If you hadn't figured it out from the signage or the masses of motorcyclists gathering out front, PitStop is so named as it serves as a natural spot to pause and take a, you guessed it, pit stop as you make your way up Mt Mee.
While not on two wheels, we stopped here to take advantage of the expansive views from their back deck after spending the morning marveling that this beautiful landscape is right on our back door step.
There's no mistaking this cafe as a place to pay tribute to motor racing and motor cycling. There's paraphernalia throughout the entire space to indicate as such. There's even a small wall bracket out front with tools for any last minute bike repairs needed.
PitStop's menu is like any road-side cafe with your friendly and familiar cake cabinet, toasted sandwiches, cold drinks and hot chips. My other half went for a ginger beer and I opted for a flat white. While almost too hot to drink when first delivered to our table, it was given the space we were in, a decent enough cup of coffee.
That said, you're really not there for a six-star, fine dining experience. You're there to stop and take in the view which spans as far out as Stradbroke Island in the distance. Keep that in mind and you and PITSTOP will get along just fine - even if you're not a mad racing fan. read more
