Sun Chung Cafe is just in a small complex of shops on Gympie Road and it looks run down! Like, really run down. There's hardly anywhere to sit inside, so you can tell they just focus on takeaways only. Dine in even incurs a 10% increase, so if the decor wasn't enough to discourage you, the price hike might. However, the meal prices were crazily cheap, so we stuck with it and WOW, am I glad we did! When we got home and opened those takeaway containers, the meals looked and smelt fantastic. We had ordered Lemon Chicken, Chicken special with ginger and shallot and Mongolian lamb. Lisa (previous reviewer) wasn't kidding about big succulent pieces of meat. The Lemon chicken was something spectacular and the chicken and lamb in the other two dishes were so tender and delicious. And so much food! The dishes were really generous sizes, and for less than $10 a dish! Sun Chung has definitely raced to the top of my Chinese Takeaway list - we ordered 3 dishes and large rice and paid just under $30! What a bargain!

For a special occasion try the Peking duck where the whole duck is brought to the table and the skin carved off and served on small pancakes with hoisin sauce and spring onion, then the rest of the duck is taken to the kitchen and made into a delicious San Choy bow. On more normal visits the salt and pepper pork ribs are definitely worth having, as is the sizzling steak and the hot and sour soup - or in fact just about anything on the menu. The service is also exceptional. Hot towels are provided to freshen up, and they are hot! At the end of the meal the ladies at the table are each presented with a single rose. Try the crepes Suzette for dessert - I know they're not Chinese, but a great theatrical experience as they are prepared at your table, as are the liqueur coffees. We have been going there regularly for over 10 years and have never found a better. Last visit we just asked Angela to decide the meal for us and she served us two delicious dishes that weren't on the menu, so we'll definitely be trying that again.

For those five or so minutes you could feel the rest of the patrons enjoying their meals. For me the sizzling steak was a winner I could have eaten another ten plates of that.
