As per previous reviews food was great and so was the price. I also enjoyed the prompt friendly service.

Food full of msg, no sweet and sour sauce to accompany the spring rolls, honey chicken was below par. Won't be returning

Reluctantly I paid the 10% surcharge and ate in as I didn't really have anywhere else to go being far out whoop whoop with just me and the bike.

I was brought up on Kantong. Every family has their own little rituals, and well, whenever I go to…read moremy folks for dinner, we always get Kantong, put on a cheesy action movie and have a Chinese feast carpet picnic in the lounge room. Kantong is a stalwart of the Everton Shopping Village. Other shops come and go, but I'm fairly sure Kantong will always be there. It is, by far, the best Chinese place in this particular northern pocket. Highlights on the menu include the curry puffs ($5.50) which are always crispy, and make the most satisfying CRUNCH noise when you bite into them. I always opt for the Beef and Black Bean ($10.00), and occasionally I'll splash out and get the sweet and sour pork ($10.00). Also, I don't know what it is about their fried rice ($5.90), but I could eat buckets of it in one sitting. For you seafood fiends out there, you'll be happy to know they have a wide range of fantastic seafood options. Hell, there's five different options for scallops alone! If you call ahead, they're good at giving you a good approximate time to come and pick it up. If you eat in, enjoy the humble and relaxed setting. I reckon almost everyone living in this pocket of the northern suburbs would have Kantong on auto dial. Best part? When we call, they know us by the sound of our voice. There's nothing like being able to say 'the usual'. Yes!

I've only ordered from this place once and I wasn't disappointed at all. Over the phone the lady…read morewas really polite. She made me feel like I was the most important customer she had. When I drove over and picked up my food she kept the same attitude, that was reassuring that she cared about her customers. There's not much I can add to what's already been stated. However I will say that if you order from Kan Tong I recommend that on the appetiser side you go with the beef satays skewars. They're always tender and the sauce is one of the best I have ever had in Brisbane. On the Mains, I can never go past the chicken in black pepper sauce. The spice is just the right amount and the sauce is nice and thick coating all the meat and vegetables. Do yourself a favour and hit them up.

The staff collecting the dirty dishes was a lot quieter than the managers. He was just throwing them in making a hell of a row. I do realise that this is about turnover however it could be done with a lot less crash and bash I believe

Although I have never…read moreseen John here (damn) I did take his advice and order the quail - which if you are patient enough to pick through the tiny little bones - is pretty tasty. I do not usually go to Aspley Oriental for the dinner menu however - I go for Yum Cha! Yummm cha!! The lovely little dumplings and mango pancakes that come rolling past on cute little trolleys send my tastebuds into a frenzy! I love the prawn gow gees, the pork and peanut dumplings and the vegetarian spring rolls. On the downside, the manager sits Westerners and Chinese in different areas and the Chinese area gets priority, sometimes all the good things are gone or cold which is quite annoying. Aspley Oriental is probably the most expensive Yum Cha restaurant I have been too which is also a bit of a bummer. It is best to go on the weekends as there is much more variety, you do have to wait outside for a while though unfortunately. The food is good though, and worth the wait.

As is normal with Chinese / Malaysian Restaurants there is a very wide range of meals that Im slowly making my way through!! Its priced well and I always walk away very satisified! I normally share a few meals with my friends to mix it up and am never disappointed!!

The restaurant is subdued, relaxed and not too flashy, and serves its meals in the traditional manner (plates to share). The menu is extensive and has some great Chinese and Malaysian options. The staff expect to have to help you with menu choices because some of the menu listings are a little abstract to say the least. "Seafood Supreme in Birds Nest" ($19.50) is such an example. The San Choi Bau ($18.50) is high on my list of recommendations, as is the Braised King Prawns in Champagne Sauce ($17.50). There is a spinning plate in the middle of each round table, which makes sharing easy to manage. I've always enjoyed coming here- it's a neat, tucked away restaurant that is as good as any Chinese Malaysian place that you'll find in the more popular inner suburbs. It's all in the name 'Treasure House'.
