I thought it was going to be hard to find a nice Thai restaurant in the northern suburbs- and I'm…read moreglad I looked a bit harder to find Chaa-Ba Thai Cafe! The restaurant is BYO. They have wine glasses and canisters to hold the bottle of wine. I had the money purse as an appetizer, and prawn coconut curry as my main dish. The money purse order comes with 4 and a side of sweet chili sauce! The little fried delicacies were very tasty! The coconut curry was awesome- I got to choose my level of 'hotness'. I ordered the dish medium heat, and also a side of jasmine rice (this is a la carte, and will set you back $3 for a small size; -1 star for having to pay extra for rice). The curry was really good and even had bits of coconut in it! I will definitely be back to try other dishes!

Not sure if I ever posted a review of my last Thai restaurant experience. It was out in the 'burbs…read moreof Melbourne and it did not go well. So my wife was keen to have a Thai meal for her birthday recently but there were a range of factors making it difficult for us to travel closer to town for one of the well knowns: soccer practice, me working late etc etc. But our neighbors had tried a Thai less than a mile (and walking distance) from home. What could go wrong? (Remembering my most recent experience gave me chills) Turns out, a young Thai couple have set up in the ruins of an old coffee shop nearby and the night was a great experience! Luckily we had phoned to see if they would be open after training as she said we needed to book. On arrival at 7:30, only one of the eight tables was set with cutlery... But over the next hour or so the tables filled and people arrived to collect their take away. One chef, great fresh, timely delivered food and a free dish for my wife's birthday! Not only that, the hostess then brought out a complimentary deep fried ice cream with sparkler to celebrate! If you've read my reviews, I'm pretty reluctant to give out five stars, but I'm making an exception this time for a new family run business, out in the Brisbane 'burbs who are doing it right.

Yes its true, I cant speak highly enough of this place. Nestled in the green suburb of Grovely,…read morethis Thai restaurant is a cut above the rest. The service is impeccable and the staff, some of the best in town. Never has there been a time where I've gone to Thai At Grovely and felt I was being rushed out or thought that the food was not as good as the last time I visited. When I go here, I make sure I invite some friends so they too can spread the word. For me nothing beats, for starters, the chicken satays skewers. The chicken is so moist and plump and the sauce is so viscous and chock full of peanut. For mains I always order the green chicken Curry. Its served with fresh vegetables and the meat is always tender and never overcooked. Love this place and you will too.

If you're looking for a high quality Thai restaurant with fresh ingredients and friendly, fast…read moreservice this is a great place to eat in or take away. The place itself is modern and comfortable, not busy at all when I visited (a Saturday night). The menu was divided into soups, salads, chef specials, curries, stir-fries, noodles and rice as well as vegetarian options. New to Thai dishes and not keen on spicy dishes, I opted for pork pad thai with chicken skewers for entree. The food didn't take long at all which was great. The chicken skewers were accompanied with a delicious peanut sauce; I definitely recommend it. The pad thai was large, with a side of salad, sprinkled with nuts and a generous amount of pork. It was full of flavour and quite filling however a tad salty for my personal taste. In saying that, I left satisfied and couldn't finish my plate due to the portion size.

Restaurant clean, spacious and service is good…read more. This is a simple and extremely clean Thai restaurant on the Northside. When we entered we were greeted straight away, and asked if we were dining in or if we wanted a takeaway. Once seated, the service was fast and friendly, this couldn't be faltered. Bottled water was on the table instantly, and a plate of complimentary prawn crackers were placed down moments later. The food was delicious, the servings were very generous from the serve of coconut rice to the Chicken Phat Khing and vegetables. I would definitely recommend this meal. I am not sure what the couple beside us were eating, but they also made it known that there meal was delicious and they were happy with their meal. What did surprise me is the chef came out and walked around the tables ands spoke to us, asking if our meals were to our satisfaction and if there was anything else she could make us to let her know. Over all it was a good experience, the owners took pride in their restaurant, keep it impeccably clean and I will definitely go back if I was ever on the Northside for a meal.

Did someone say, 'let's go to Brighton and have Thai for dinner tonight'? No? That's a shame,…read morebecause if someone had said that I would have replied, 'great idea, I know just the place'. Because it is a great idea. And I do know just the place. And that place is Thai Sa-Bai. I cannot sing its praises highly enough. Eat in, take away, it's all amazing. The menu is varied and delicious ... OK, I'll confess, every single dish I've eaten here has been duck. Green duck curry, BBQ duck ... and seriously, I couldn't be happier. Delicious!!! The curry puffs are delightfully curry-y and (so I've heard) the Pad Thai is so good it's stupid. Please, please, please order the garlic rice. My mind was blown by the garlic rice. In fact, I'd be happy to just have the garlic rice (I need to say garlic rice one more time). The service is amazing and the staff are so very friendly. I've had take-away on Saturday night and during the week, and I've eaten at the restaurant a dozen times and the quality just doesn't vary. Seriously, you need to eat here. (And I know you're wondering why I haven't given this amazing place 5 stars ... it's because the air conditioning is much, much too cold. Bring a cardie).
