This is a very nice place to grab a quick bite to eat and be on your way. The place was clean, including the restroom. And the gyro was made quickly and fresh to order, the pita and tzatziki sauce were excellent. The place can be a bit hard to notice as it's in the corner of a large strip mall center, so be sure to watch for it. The staff was friendly and talkative in a helpful way. For something different that a burger, stop in here and get a tasty hot meal. I will eat here again, and you should give them a try if in the area. read more

The food was very good. I went to sample a couple meatless pitas, for their meatless Monday promotion. I was satisfied with everything except the place wasn't kept very clean and the guy behind the counter was cordial but seemed put off by me asking questions. If you are one who expects friendliness and cleanliness to be too priority you will have a bad time. If I didn't enjoy the food so much I would completely bash them for how dirty and unfriendly it was there. The food alone is worth a 4 star rating. read more

Look, I get the reviews below. The employee there doesn't look the happiest and he's pretty dry. But the food is great. It's reasonably-priced, and you get a lot of good-quality food for the price. I frequently get it to go, and I have no issues and never have any complaints about the food. It's not really the type of place I'd sit down at, but it really doesn't seem to be going for that. All the Mediterranean staples done well and for a good price. Not much more you could ask for when a lot of places are charging $15 for platters consisting mostly of rice. read more

Rarely do one star ratings, but Pita's left me no choice. When basic fundamentals are not met, you gotta bring out the dreadful one star. Let me start with the pros: .........hang on I'll think of something.... well they are in a pretty good location and have a cool sign outside. now the cons: Place lacks three Cs... charm, cleanliness, and customer service. Used to be a fan of Pita's, and will probably go to other locations in the future but this particular one needs to start over or it'll be out of business soon. There's only one person running the entire place, cashier and preparing orders. That's not so bad when the person in charge has it down to a science and is on their A game. The server at this particular location didn't crack a smile and appeared very disinterested. I saw a lady placing an order attempting to strike a conversation and share a laugh just to get snubbed. The establishment was very uninviting, at first I considered to dine in, but after walking inside, it just felt cramped and a little dirty. Needless to say, I got my order to go. The food lacked spirit, it wasn't prepared the way I'm used to having it at other Pita's Republic establishments, took a few bites and threw the rest away. I don't know what the hell happened. Tend to rate places based on certain factors, food, service, atmosphere, and overall experience. Sad to say this particular Pita's failed. So, yeah... Methinks not sounds about right. read more

So, we liked the Pitas Repiblic that closed down on Tampa Road in Oldsmar, so since I needed a late lunch we decided to pop in. The vibe in here is not like the one we were used to. It doesn't look as clean for one. Also, I asked the lone employee if I could have the ingredients for the "mid east piece" on a pita with gyro, she told me that all the ingredients are posted on the menu...I kinda don't even know what she meant by that so I just told her that I wanted the "Feta Supreme" with Gyro. My husband ordered a low carb pocket with falafel. Note the whole time we were ordering she kept turning around to watch some mystery show on t.v. So we sat and waited. She called out the names of the meals and people walked up to get them from her. She then looked up and told my husband that they didn't have any pockets left, but the Pitas are whole wheat. So he said okay. She calls out falafel and supreme. We open our Pitas before leaving and my pita had chicken in it. So I said, this has chicken in it. She looked up and said, that's what you ordered. I said, "no I didn't. The menus clearly says feta supreme and you can pick your meat and I told you gyro." She then tells me that I wasn't specific enough, but she make me another one. Really! Of course she will, but no apology, just adamant that I wasn't specific. If she was paying attention instead of watching t.v. Maybe she would have noticed how specific I was. So we leave to get an oil change and car wash and ate our Pitas there. They weren't horrible, but they weren't good either. They also weren't very hot. So if the food was at least something to yelp about, I'd give it more stars, but since it wasn't I'd say don't wast your time at this Pitas republic. Zero stars for service. One star for at least having food to serve...but only one way with no deviations. read more

Better to die of hunger than risk your life eating food at this place. The quality of the meat, vegetables and other products being used now is atrocious.. This once passable pita joint has taken a turn for the terrible. The ingredients are so far INFERIOR to what passes as acceptable anywhere else it's shocking. Mystery meat looks like a compressed combination of many different scraps of discarded mystery something...Soylent Green? Soylent Brown? Not kidding. Is this a COVID issue? Who knows. The salads had grit on the greens and one had some kind of dark hair mixed in with the feta. Hardly appetising. One of us loves falafel, but here it was over cooked and so hard on the outside it wasn't a pleasure to try to crack. One of us skipped the meat and tried the advertised smoothies, finding them extremely sugary despite being advertised as "no sugar added." Possibly the premixed powdered package already had the overwhelming sugar component mixed in. Not a healthy alternative. The fruit that was offered as a mix in did not look fresh or inviting. The service is slow and surly, bordering on rude and indifferent. Couldn't care less if you come in or not. So do yourself a huge favor and skip this place in favor of the Vietnamese place next door (delicious boba smoothies!) or anything else on the strip. Your stomach will thank you. read more

I enjoy Greek food every once in a while, but I just don't find myself eating too often because there is no value to it and it just feels overpriced to me. Any sort of gyro and a side will run $10 at most places and there are plenty of other similar restaurants that I can get a sandwich, side and a drink for around $7, especially when I just need a quick lunch. I walked in here during a weekday and there was one gentleman running the shop. He was working the counter as well as making food and did a very nice job doing both. He was friendly and really cared for what he was doing, unlike most people working in the restaurant industry. My food was ready in no time and it was to my liking. The portion was bigger than I anticipated and all of my ingredients tasted fine. My side of potato salad was also a nice size and was very cold, which I prefer. I always feel safer ordering potato or pasta salad when it is kept inside of a refrigerator compared to being in a container on ice for people to see. I liked my food, but I wasn't crazy on the value. read more

This isn't the same restaurant it was a year ago. It as a totally different owner who actually cares, a re-decorated interior and an upgraded menu. The food tastes the same but virtually everything else has changed. I had written this place off in 2015 due to the poor service but last week my assistant (who doesn't read Yelp) came into office holding a pita with nice chunks of gyro meat hanging off the side. I asked her where she got it from and upon hearing it I cringed. "Not that place," I said but she assured me things were different. "What the heck," I told myself, and though every ounce in my body told me don't do it, the pull of a gyro was too much. Good thing I did. Nothing was like a remembered it. The owner noticed me from my Yelp review and explained to me what happened. He just bought the franchise a couple months back and he's trying to turn everything around. Service was great and food is good. As I said before, the pitas here are not the best I've ever tasted but also not the worst. THIS RESTAURANT IS UNDER NEW MANAGEMENT AND IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT NOW. It is very unfair that yelp is putting all the good new reviews in the "not recommended" section that people don't see. I took a friend there and she loved it and wrote a good review. It was put under the "not recommended" section for some reason. Really unfair to a business that is now great and trying to overcome bad reviews left over from BEFORE they owned it. (Edited) This place is amazing! The gyro is soooo good. Pita's republic is a pretty solid chain in the Tampa Bay Area. I love the fact they've got so many ways to customize your pita. They've got a wide selection of meat, vegetarian and vegan options. I've been on a vegetarian kick lately and so I ordered a hummus pita with all of the veggies and avocado. The man behind the counter was quite accommodating and provided some options so that I could get a better value for my buck. I didn't want a drink but the combo with a drink was the best option so I got it. The hummus was pretty basic so it didn't over power my topping or the pita the avocado looked like a prepackaged but it was still good. Will I go back I always do. This location is consistent with the brand, the restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. If you're in the area and want to get your pita fix definitely stop in. read more

I love their gyros wrap with feta cheese & a healthy dose of hot sauce (available on the other side of the counter). Basically Middle Eastern fast food -- tasty & pretty healthy (certainly compared to, say, McD's; maybe a bit less so than Subway depending on what you get). $5-8 per menu item or so. read more

My husband and I were just at Pita Republic in Tampa, Fl-the Hillsborough Ave location. We often get food from there, but this was by far and away our worst experience. The restaurant was filthy-there are 6 tables in the dining area, and each one had copious crumbs/sauce caked on the tables, and the pitas were horrible. My husband got a tuna pita, and it was literally dripping with liquid. We opted for to go order, and before he was even able to take the pita out of the foil, it had saturated the paper bag it was in. He attempted to eat it, but it was completely inedible. Sad to see that in spite of new management, this location's rating is getting pulled down by old reviews. Starving at 8:53 on a Friday night, desperately looking for a quick place nearby with decent vegetarian options, I hoped the food gods would be merciful and let the owners be kind enough to help me even though they closed in like 5 minutes T__T The owner was incredibly kind and did not act at all put out by my coming in right before closing. He put together 2 awesome pitas which he loaded with their amazing hummus and eggplant and falafel. The vegetables were crisp and fresh even though it was late in the day. This location is under new management so if you haven't been in a while it's time to give them another try. The place has improved so much since I last visited. Service was friendly, the dining area was clean, and the food was actually served hot. You can really tell the new owner takes pride in his product!!!
