Working out of Regus in Woodland Center I was looking for a nice lunch spot that was fast, casual, convenient and priced right. Take a Break Café rings all the bells! I work in the same business complex as this cafe so it's very convenient to come here on some days for breakfast and lunch. They offer a wide variety of Cuban food in addition to typical deli food. The staff is always very friendly and remember their repeat customers! I always get the oatmeal for breakfast which is probably the best oatmeal I've ever eaten. Get it with cinnamon sugar and WOW!! You get a big serving for a little over $2. Pricing here is typically very reasonable. For lunch my 2 go to things are their Cuban sandwich which is huge! Comes with chips or fries for about $5. Then the chicken Caesar salad is so good. The flavor on the chicken is good and what gives the salad a plus! They have seating available and do take call ahead orders. First time in... I order a Reuben... The guy throws a shockingly small portion of Corned Beef on the hot flat-top, cooking out any fat and tightening up the meat... He toasts the bread in a toaster and puts sauerkraut and cheese on the griddle as well... Plops the Sauerkraut and cheese on top of the Corned beef and scoops it all onto the toasted bread, unevenly, which then goes onto the press... After a couple minutes he lifts up the press for a second to check it and all I see are two pieces of toast in there... I paid, and they handed me the order which weighed nothing... When I took a bite in my vehicle, going by taste, the only way I knew there was Corned Beef in the sandwich was because it all pulled out as I took my first bite... This place is absolutely horrible!! I got so sick after I ate their food. I called before I went there and they said they will give me a refund. Then I went there and the owner Joe said I feel so offended you don't like my food. And he said he is NOT going to refund me. This review is based off the service as I have not been given the chance to try the food. My company asked me to reach out to them to supply food for a company event with 100 guest. I spoke to the owner Joe and he told me to email him the basic info and he would get back to me. Sent 1st email and no response, sent a 2nd email, again no response. I would have thought that a smaller business like this would be all over an order to feed 100 people but I guess we are not important enough. Oh well their loss. I prefer to get breakfast over lunch only due to them being usually busier during lunch hours and I prefer to pick up my breakfast and go. They have a small menu for lunch and breakfast and usually some specials. Its all the basics from breakfast sandwiches, omlets, home fries and my personal favorite cuban cheese toast with a cafe con leche and for lunch sandwiches, soups, salads and some daily choices of hot meals (varies each day). I have worked in Woodlands for 5 years and you have no idea how much I would love this place to be good...it is awful. I have ordered 3 times and given up. 1. Ordered a turkey sandwich and when I looked at the meat it was shiny and multicolored. 2. Ordered a salad and it was just not good in a general way. My coworker who does eat here often says to me from across the table, "I know it's not very good but it's not terrible and it's super convenient". 3. I had told myself I would never go back and one morning someone yelled out they were running to take a break and offered to bring back food. I skipped my normal breakfast so I asked him to bring me back an egg sandwich. It arrived with a huge blond hair in the egg. Never again...done with this place. The thing is, the location is a can't miss because they have about 2000+ people working within 100 yards of it. All they have to do is not suck and they would have a line out the door all day. Great lunch spot! This is located in the same business park as I work so it is very convenient for my short 30 minute lunch break. I sometimes call ahead so my food is ready when i get there and it always is as promised. Everyone is very friendly and remembers you if you're a regular. I've enjoyed the food every time I've gone and I like that they have daily specials so there is always something new to try but you have to make sure you get there quick or they will sell out. I usually get the Chicken Caesar salad which is really yummy :). They also have great cake for dessert that you can buy whole or just a piece. They also serve breakfast that I heard is good but i haven't tried it yet. They are only open until 4 o'clock though and "shut off their grills" at 3pm which in the past was aggravating when i had a later lunch but now i just adjust the time I go if i want something from the grill. read more
