Had a great sail with Pirate Adventures. The crew was clearly experienced with boating AND kids. From arrival to final departure they had ways to keep the kids attentive and engaged, including dress-up, bandanas eyepatches and swords that the kids got to take with them, and even a share in the treasure. I feel like the sweet spot for this activity may ideally be 5 year old and up but that said my two year old did alright and there were plenty of younger kids aboard. If you're traveling to MV with children, definitely recommend Pirate Adventures!

Pirate adventures on Martha's Vineyard was a blast. The crew was amazing and great with kids. They made it fun for all!

We were so excited to see this back up & running this year! Definitely one of the highlights of our vacation & both our daughters, ages 4.5 & 7, LOVED it (as they had when they were 2.5 & 5!). There were some older kids on the boat too who seemed to also really enjoy it so it's good for all ages. They do some great commentary to make it fun for the adults too & it's a nice excuse to take a boat ride around Oak Bluffs. Highly recommend & we'll be back aboard next year!

6 STARS This is absolutely worth every dollar. My daughter had the best time interacting with the staff. The staff does a very good job including all the kids with little tasks that make them feel like they are on a actual pirate boat. The next time we are in Martha's Vineyard we will definitely be going back. Awesome job.

Sooooo much fun! Great for kids. Fun for their grownups. Awesome crew who obviously have fun doing what they do. Definitely recommended!

This tour of Martha's Vineyard is amazing. In about three hours, we got an interesting glimpses and…read moreexperiences on the island. Our tour guide, Stan, gave an interesting & informative presentation of the island's history and qualities. He's lived on the island from childhood & brings many personal insights of the island and its inhabitants. Stan's the Man! Dee-Dee of HomeGrown Tours was superbly helpful when she contacted us about a need to reschedule our tour for earlier in the day. She asked how we were getting to the island and shared a much better way to get to Oak Bluffs. Very glad she went the extra effort to make our trip more enjoyable. Among the stops on the tour were Menemsha where we enjoyed seafood soup samples & had seafood sandwiches from Menemsha Fish Market. The stop at Aqinnah (Gay Head) Cliffs was stunning with the views of the ocean, beaches below, multicoloured cliffs, and a lighthouse. Another memorable stop was at Orange Peel Bakery. Oh, what trip on Martha's Vineyard wouldn't mention Jaws filming sites. Stan pointed out several of the key locations, including "the Jaws Bridge", providing back stories about the filming. I highly recommend HomeGrown Tours.

I made a few phone calls and Deedee arranged to meet us for an afternoon tour. She is a very enthusiastic MV host. We got a fun tour of things you would expect and some you would not. The narration, history and stories of local life were non-stop. We had a great time. She really is a pleasure to work with and saved the day for us. Give Deedee a call if you are planning a trip to MVI.

There's a lot of interesting and good information, and I liked the people. But.... The first half of the tour is in an old mini bus. The bus has tiny windows, like 4" square, and no air circulation. No fans. No air conditioning. Today was nearly 90 out by 10 am, when our tour started, and temperatures inside the bus got so hot that stepping out felt cool! You don't travel far, and then they stop for 10 minutes to talk about what's out the window. It's brutal. Ironically, the travel distances are so slim most people could walk it. But, just sitting on the bus in the heat? Yuck. The second half is in an old shed where you learn about harvesting. Again, it could be interesting, but it's a good 10° hotter, even with the fans going, and it makes it hard to focus. Or even listen. Better weather would have helped. But, we had an old lady in our tour group nearly pass out, and the guide indicated that that was not uncommon. Heck, complimentary water would be nice. Waters are a dollar. The tour is fifteen. It's all cash only.

A very mixed experience. I was supposed to go on a 2:30 trolley tour. However, it got cancelled…read morethe night before. I didn't realize it until I showed up for it and they said they reached out to me. Sure enough they did, but it was in the body of an email sent the night before. The subject line of the email said, 'Conformation Downtown Edgartown Tour...'. So I assumed it was like the 2 other emails I got confirming the tour and didn't read/click through it. Now, I'll take some of the blame for not reading the body of the email, but you'd think if they were cancelling it would be in the subject line or view text or phone. Anyway, I got a $5 refund and did a different tour later in the day that ended up being virtually identical to the tour I did with another company earlier in the day. Not their fault, and in hindsight, I probably should've just taken the full refund. Anthony, the guide was great. Very fun and has an infectious personality. Much more upbeat than the other tour I did. The bus was very loud and probably needs new brakes based on all the squealing whenever we slowed down. All told, this is probably more of a 3.5 star review, but alas, yelp doesn't allow half stars and I'm bumping it up to 4 because of how great Anthony was, although I really should be giving a 3 star review. And although it was part of what made him so fun, Anthony probably shouldn't be using a pointing stick while he's driving. Edit- forgot to mention too the tour was closer to 2 hours than 2.5. And again, I really should be giving 3, but Anthony was so good that I'll still give them 4.

It was a fun time. The driver was entertaining, and it was a great way to see the island in a few…read morehours. Only thing I'd suggest is a bit longer at the stop by the lighthouse. There's a few cute shops, bathrooms, an awesome view and a lighthouse. Not quite enough time to do it all!
