Our third winery stop (out of five) was at Pipers Brook Vineyard. It shares the same vineyard area as Jansz (they specialize in bubbly/sparkling wines).
We dropped in on a Monday afternoon (around 1:15pm). The inside has a spacious tasting room (with even a few stools to sit at) and a cute courtyard with bean bags. Too bad their restaurant was currently being renovated but there's a food truck outside (open from Friday to Sunday). The only food they had was a cheese box ($22.50 AUD).
Wine tastings are $5.00 AUD/person but you can try whatever you'd like from the list. They only had one that we couldn't try because it was sold out. Tasting fee is waived if you buy a bottle.
There's Ninth Island, Pipers Brook and Kreglinger wines; a total of 15 wines. Both hosts were friendly and gave a nice description of each wine. We ended up sampling 8 wines.
- NV Ninth Island sparkling - our first one turned out to be our favourite. We bought a bottle ($25.00 AUD). Quite reasonable for a sparkling.
