I have been seeking psychiatric care since I was a young teen and have seen both psychiatrists and psychologists, and I can say with confidence that Barbara, as a Clinical Social Worker is superior by all measures in actually helping to provide the tools to navigate through daily life and relationships, and not just provide some framing diagnosis that ultimately becomes the enabling factor that allows for continued unwanted thought processes and behaviors. She has never failed to deliver! I'm not sure how she has the strength to work from the wee hours of the morning until late at night. She must have some type of super-human emotional/physical power, as I feel like she too, feels the pain of her patients. I have referred her to several friends in need of help, and all of them feel the same way about her work. It's like some secret sisterhood when one of us references 'Barbara'. She is a very nice lady but I do not recommend her as a therapist. She is very rigid in her beliefs…read moreand she is very difficult to get a hold of for scheduling or any other purposes. She doesn't have a voicemail where you can leave a message, she "doesn't receive reception" where she lives, and she was unwilling to let me email her, so she is impossible to reach outside of session. When I asked her about this she went on a tangent about professional boundaries and twisted the conversation to seem as if I was trying to get a hold of her in a nonprofessional way. I liked her as a person; but she didn't guide me or help me in ways that were good for me. I love my former and my new therapist, but she almost turned me away from therapy altogether.
