Just had lunch here. Wife and I stopped in for a late lunch (1:45 pm). I ordered the Bistek Ecebollado (Steak and onions) with platanos maduros (sweet plantains) and the wife ordered 1/2 a chicken and some yuca. Wife's chicken was on the small side, so about 1/2 of a 1.5 lb fryer, though roasted well and a good flavor, if quite salty, and the skin was spongy, obviously it had been kept warm for a while. The yuca was really good though, well cooked without being dried out and still warm enough when brought to the table. My steak was thin, tough and dried out. It was about the size of 2 playing cards, had about 4 tablespoons of onions on it and I got 5 slices of platanos with it. I think my steak had been cooked at least twice as it wasn't even all that warm when I got it. I ate it, because I was starving, it was already a late lunch for me, but it certainly wasn't a $13 steak. I'll get the chicken next time. read more

Very authentic, affordable prices, and great portions. Went with a group of 5, 30 minutes before closing and they were very accommodating. Service was friendly and food was quick. The ceviche was true Peruvian style and delicious. I didn't even have time to picture it because I ate it so fast. We also tried the empanadas as a starter which were good. For dinner we ordered a few different things and shared. The half chicken with rice, beans, and tostones. The steak with onions, rice, beans, and plantains. My friend ordered the platter with chicharron and it was HUGE! Everything was delicious. I would suggest ordering the dark meat chicken because the white meat was a tad dry and just a heads up they charge for chimichurri. The food is good, but service is always lacking here. Even after several times, at slow times of the day, we had 3 different servers in one sitting. If you go here be prepared to track down a new server every few minutes. Know what you want to order when they ask for your drinks, and have your money ready when the check comes. Great place in the area for Peruvian/Latin food! I recently picked up dinners to go and was impressed by the quick turnaround time and attentive service of the host. The restaurant is on the small side so there is really no space to wait as they make the food so I headed to publix next door to pick something up while I waited. What I got: quarter rotisserie chicken dinner (dark meat requested) with rice, beans and plantains; another chicken dinner, same as above but with white meat; and of course, vanilla flan! The chicken was really moist but wasn't as flavorful as other Latin rotisserie places I've been to in Central FL. Plantains were amazing. The beans and rice were good, but my one complaint would be that some of my rice was a little hard. The flan was really really good - however, it was packed in a styrofoam box and when I got home the sauce spilled everywhere. :( it was still very very delicious! read more

Latin American restaurant that focuses on rotisserie chicken, a product they produce expertly and quickly. Very flavorful and juicy chicken which my family loves, and certainly not bland as in other such chicken dishes. As for me, I had the lomo saltado which was unbelievably good; it's one of those dishes that puts a smile on your face with your first taste. A bit of a "guilt dish" because of the salt content and fries incorporated into the dish, but the soy+wine reduction is excellent and overall the dish is extremely gratifying. Would eat it over and over if high blood pressure wasn't a possible outcome. The service is very gracious and friendly though I think my water cup could have been filled more often. The atmosphere is a little dated or corny but does not detract from the experience. read more

Oh. My. Gosh!!!!! No Orlando vacation should be called finished without including lunch or dinner at this place. The fried plantain starter with guacamole was absolutely on point. Then the meal.... Whether you get some of their terrific rotisserie chicken or a grilled item... So delicious! They bring two sauces to the table. The green one has some heat to it. Both of them pair really well with the meats, plantains (fried or sweet), or yuca. I had a taste of my friend's rotisserie chicken (such wonderful flavor), and I ordered the grilled chicken with onion. You could feed two people on that grilled chicken, and it was flattened but still very tender. The onions melted in my mouth. Seriously, I may have to go back and try one of their beef entrees. I'll definitely come back to Pio Pio next time I am in Orlando. My usual MO is to look for places with great reviews and to try something different for every meal. I also try to avoid most of the ordinary tourist places. Real people were eating at Pio Pio, not just vacationers. I think I'll have to return to Pio Pio before this trip is over. read more

6:30 found the restaurant about 1/3 full. We were escorted (motioned) to the 1st class NFW table choice that had two chairs by the kitchen walkway and zero privacy from the front door. Really? When we left an hour later the place was 120% out the door waiting, so I'm sure some would jump at this one under those conditions. We liked the chorizo and the garlic sauce. Good unique seasonings! The corn cake was mostly tasteless and crumbly. Did a good job holding some sauces. My grilled skirt steak was near impossible to cut. I don't think this was due to some error, just the way they do this entree. Flavor with the grilled onions was meh and just not worth the effort to masticate. I guess I just don't "get it". The fried cassava was like being served a baked potato without any butter or sour cream. The garlic sauce helped some with this very dry entree but the plantains I traded for made me real envious. The beans were okay and added rice helped me leave this place feeling full. The "taste" of the 6 oz (w/o ice) $9.00 Sangria made me happy, but also happy we didn't pay $18 for drinks with 75% ice.. Yes, they've raised the prices. I still think they are a good value as a 1/2 chicken dinner is enough for two meals for me. I only get takeout from them, I've never dined in, so this is only based on take-out. The best chicken I've ever had, amazing. The rice is always moist and delicious. Not the best beans or sweet plantains in the world, but they are fine. I call them for takeaway as I'm leaving work, and they've always had it ready and waiting when I get there. My only complaint is that they sometimes seem a bit disorganized and if you don't know better when you walk in and stop at the hostess station, it can take several minutes to be acknowledged, even as the workers come and go from that station. Just head directly to the bar to pick up your take away food, because that's where it will be and where you will pay. They should either tell you that when you order or have some signage at the hostess station or gee--novel idea--actually greet people standing there obviously waiting for something. read more

Great service and great food! I've gone to the location on I-Drive and the food is the same! Yummy! The service is better at this location though. Very courteous and you almost feel like you're being taken care of like you were in someone's home. I get the chicken soup with sweet plantains on the side. Never disappoints! Walking in on a Saturday and was seated immediately. Amazinggg especially with a toddler, I was impressed. The outside of the restaurant is plain, once inside the decor is a beautiful spanish influence. The service is top notch. The food was perfectly cooked deliciousness. For appetizers I ordered calamari which was perfectly cooked, it came with lime but next time I'll change it out for lemons. Still, perfectly cooked and portioned very well. For dinner I opted for half chicken which came with rice, beans and sweet plantains. The chicken was juicy, flavorful and kept you wanting more. I left room for dessert so requested a to go bag which by the way the leftovers were still tasty as the first day. For dessert I tried the flan which was ok but tasty. My husband and I went to eat dinner there. It was empty. My husband asked for churasco steak and I ordered shrimp. The food came out hot besides the steak. My husband cut a piece, put it in his mouth, spit it out and informed the waiter it was cold. The waiter brought the steak over to us again. It was the same steak!! I asked the waiter if it was the same piece including the small piece my husband spit out. He stated yes, he said it was cold. I asked him if he knew about covid. He said yes but it's fine because the stove is out. Needless to say, we left. Btw: the steak wasn't churasco it was palomia. I tried warning you if you get covid there. I found myself adding salt because it lacked a little flavor. Next I had the lomo saltado which was plentiful! I literally got 3 meals out of that dish. Very delicious. At first I thought it was overpriced but like I said, you could feed 3 people on that serving. My husband had the grilled steak with rice and plantains and devoured the whole thing. Pio Pio is easily one of my favorite restaurants in the Horizons West area; they have a diverse menu, delicious food, and great service. I've ordered a number of items from their menu, and have yet to be disappointed! Guacamole is a staple for me at any Latin restaurant, and Pio Pio ranks high on the list of fresh and flavorful (Bonus: in place of tortilla chips, they use tostones as dippers!) Moving on to the entrees, the portions here are no joke and can easily be shared or provide lunch for the following day. Favorites of mine include their chicken soup (hearty enough to serve as an entree), the grilled chicken and the breaded pork chop.
