I have never had a poor experience or poor food from this location! My friend and I were supposed to be going somewhere else for dinner but due to work related challenges we had to adjust our plans and decided to come to pio pio. We were able to be seated right away without a reservation at 6 PM on a Friday night. They have such an extensive menu and there really is a little bit for everyone. We opted to start with the tostones and guacamole as well as the Spanish sausage with corn cake. The Spanish sausage was amazing! It had such a nice crisp on the exterior that you got that pop when you took a bite of it. The tostones and guacamole were delicious as well. I'm not a huge plantains fan but the way these were fried and the spiciness of the guacamole was out of this world. Definitely something I would come and just put as a mobile order to pick up and take home to eat. My friend opted for the quarter chicken with rice, beans and cassava. I opted for the strips of grilled steak and chicken with rice, beans and cassava. Again meat is perfectly cooked chicken is perfectly cooked perfectly seasoned and just absolutely amazing. They are located in a strip mall by a Publix. So there's a huge parking lot so plenty of parking is available. it is a quaint little place although I have seen it accommodate larger groups anywhere between 6 to 8 people. Family friendly and something for everyone! We enjoy Pio Pio for dinner once or twice a month with the family. The chicken is good as well as the sauces. My husband really enjoys their house soup. This location has soup with barely anything in it, empanadas are purchased from the publix next door, the chicken tastes like nothing special and I have heard they are watering down their sauces. As soon as the waiter approached I ordered immediately . He was great, so nice and brought the food really fast. I had Skirt Steak, rice and beans and plantains. All delicious. The rice was especially good, it was moist and not over cooked. When I added their sauce to it, wow, DELICIOUS! The Peruvian menu has many yummy choices. My husband's favorite is Chaufa rice which is essentially fried rice with additional spices like ginger. This time he tried the salmon. Basic grilled salmon. It better when you add the ranch-like dressing. Came with vegetables (frozen) and rice. He also had a delicious salad with fresh, crispy lettuce, big pieces of tomato and cucumber. Same Ranch d I always get the whole rotisserie chicken and take the leftovers home. It is always perfectly done and juicy. I add saffron rice and green plantains as sides. I always get the lemonade which is a slushy version and so fresh. The place is fairly small with about 20 tables. Does a strong takeout business as well. This one is on our shortlist for regular visits. For my Low FODMAP friends, this restaurant can be a little treacherous as it is hard to avoid garlic (in the roasted vegetables) or onion (in saffron rice and on chicken skin). Before moving to Florida my wife and I were very frequent visitors to PioPio #1 in Rego Park and PioPio #2 in Jackson Heights New York. We could never get enough of their Pollo a la Brasa and the green pepper and white garlic sauces that came with it. We spoke to the waitress who told me that the owners are related to the owners in NY... we told her how much we missed the food and we were so happy we found the restaurant. Wow! I read reviews for this place and was hoping the good ones held true for my experience. The place is clean and has a contemporary setting with paintings to represent the Latino culture. The energy of this place is warm and cozy. I imagine that it will be much more lively in the evenings during dinner rush. Prior to Covid this places seems to us cloth tables covers which speaks volumes about the intent of the owner. Most places it's just a table that gets wiped down for the next customers. Not this place, instead of the cloth which is still on the tables they have added sheets to cover the cloth and table. So no worries about making a mess the y will replace it with a new sheet. The utensils are noticeably different and clearly there for specific purpose. I have yet to see restaurants do this. As for the food, when it is ordered it is quickly put together. Believe me when I say, I am pretty certain they have a garden in the back that they pick the produce from. A lot of effort has gone into the avocados and cilantro just to name a few being fresh. Not turning brown or barely ripe, that perfect freshness that Michelin rated restaurants are known for. The same can be applied for the meats, rice and even the beans. I've eaten in many places around the world and in lots of parts of Orlando so I would strongly recommend you make this place a staple of your places to eat when dinning out. My father is a harsh critic and even he couldn't stop eating. Portions are fair but the flavor and freshness is what you're paying for. You're looking at plates in the low $20's. Servers are attentive, thoughtful, and their uniforms are what you would expect from a high class establishment. This place is a hidden gem. I hope they are here to stay for a long time and that they take very good care of their staff. I watched as people came in to get takeout orders or to place them and they were in and out fast. Heard good things about their food so we decided to give them a try. Not much of a quality restaurant feel as you can see from the pictures, felt more of an upscale fast food joint. Service was prompt but there weren't many customers, it was a Sunday night. The server was a bit pushy on items to order, seemed and felt like he wanted us to order more food. We started with two glasses of their house Cab, healthy house pour and it was delicious. We ordered the Pork Skin-Chicharrón appetizer, it was really good, not too crunchy, (wouldn't want to break a molar on those things) meaty enough with delicious seasoning and just the right amount of pig fat to savor it all. I ordered their half chicken, it came pipping hot with a delicious savory skin and perfectly moist meat. The food is seasoned well and the rice flavorful and fluffy. However, I felt I was served soup for beans it was so much juice in the cup and 2 tbsp of beans. I mentioned it to the server but she said that's how it comes! WTH! I feel like the oneon international drive give you more food and provide better customer service. I did not realize that there was a Pio Pio on Maguire. It is located where Matthew's Steakhouse used to be. This location is smaller and more comfortable. My husband I started with Tostones with Guacamole ($10.59), Beef Empanadas ($4.50) and Chicken Empanadas. ($4.50) all of the appetizers were freshly made and delicious. The guacamole was the best in the area and the tostones were very thin and crispy with great flavor. The chicken empanadas were my favorite because they were a little more juicy over the beef. The beef was dry and needed as little more garlic sauce. For entrees we both ordered the skirt steak with sweet plantains, rice and beans. ($40.75) The steak was cooked perfectly and with the added chimichurri it was outstanding. We ordered an additional side of fries and this messed up our order. The kitchen assumed that the fries were replacing one of the entrees order of the the sweet plantains. The fries were cold and had thin slices of dried out kielbasa in it so we sent it back and hot fresh fries without the kielbasa appeared. The sweet plantains that went with the entree never made it to the table. For dessert we ordered coffee, flan and tres leches. The coffee was cold but both desserts were good. read more

Incredible food! We went in for a quick lunch, just wanted a small bite and boy were we blown away. We got the empanadas, which I would say are pretty traditional. And we got the picada platter which filled the 4 of us all the way up. Staff was great! Ambiance at lunch was nice and quiet and felt great to get out of the heat for a minute. Stunned by the amazing flavors and spicy sauces we encountered here! We started with the Peruvian Ceviche which is $18, BUT is an appetizer that can easily ( and most definitely should) be shared by 3-4 adults. We chose the " spicy" option which included bits of sunny habanero sprinkled through the citrus juice, white fish, onion, garlic, red onions and cilantro-c'est magnifique! (Yes, I can exclaim in French about great Peruvian food!). This dish also includes fried corn and sweet potatoes and those were uniquely delish and didn't make sense to us American diners- but our lust for food prevailed and consumption ensued! CHICKEN is king here, hence the name Pio Pio! I had to use all caps because my husband had this special meat plate with fried pork, skirt steak, and sausage and though the flavors of these were all very good, none could compare to the divine savory spicy flavors of the succulent bird that arrived on my plate! We always joke that he picks the best dishes on the menu, but tonight I claimed victory! Seriously, you must order the rotisserie chicken and as other Yelpers have recommended, get the half, not the quarter- you can always box up any leftovers and enjoy them later! Most entrees come with rice and beans. The rice is good, but the beans are extraordinary! If you add a little of the jalapeño sauce (one of two they bring to each table at the start of your meal), you will lick the bowl clean, I swear it! Most dishes come with fried plantains and because this girl's body rebels against fried foods, I ask for help and the server was happy to offer alternatives like salad and yucca. My salad arrived before the meal and it was fresh and huge! We had no room for dessert as we were already boxing up half of our dinner to take home, so we ordered Flan and Tres Leches to go-will update on those later. I am thrilled to have such yummy cuisine in our neighborhood. The service here, BTW- stellar! The young man waiting on us was from Columbia and was very good at explaining all the dishes and made great suggestions. There was always someone stopping by to bring us more iced tea or Diet Coke. This latest location in the Pio Pio chain takes over a nice space in the Publix shopping center that was previously a mediocre BBQ place. Pio Pio is much better. I love their rotisserie chicken, which always has a delicious golden brown crust. It comes with rice, beans, and plantains. The quarter chicken is surprisingly small, so you may want to get the half chicken. Both are very reasonably priced. Not so reasonably priced, but also delicious, is the ceviche ($18). It's a Peruvian style ceviche, (which is a bit confusing since the restaurant is often listed as Colombian).The Mixto version combines raw white fish and cooked shrimp with onions and lots of lime juice. It's served with the traditional mutant(!) corn, and also cracked corn kernels. Service was excellent. By the way, they also have whole rotisserie chickens to go at very reasonable prices.
