Bingo time!

Attached to the bowling center was Beach Bingo which happens We'd-Fri from 430-10 with bingo games starting at 6:30. It was great fun! It wasn't the bingo I was expecting so it made it that more exciting to learn something new. They followed COVID-19 restrictions so you had to make a reservation to play. Tables were well distanced and hand sanitizer stations at the front. There were different variations of bingo played that I'd never heard of and the other regular players were very helpful. You have to buy a package to play but can buy extra cards if you want. The package is $24 and contains most of the games that would be played throughout the night. There were probably 25-30 games but maybe 3-5 that you had to buy. They played X out, 3 layer cake, blackout, regular bingo and special L from what I can re. It goes by fast since some the package contained 3 cards for a particular game. I don't remember the name of it but there bingo game that was something like reverse bingo where if they call a number you would cover that number and it's reversed. Ex:B14 then you cover B14 and N41. They have computer bingo you can purchase so it does the work for you and tells you when to say bingo but starts at $50. Had a really great time taking my mom there. I would definitely go again and can't wait to take my daughter when they have summer family fun bingo. Unfortunately it's for adults only until the summer. Two

We were previously stationed at Kings Bay, and really enjoyed bowling at their bowling alley on base. It was new, clean, and inexpensive. For a family night, we decided to check out Mayport's bowling alley. Like everything else on this base, my first impression of it was "it looks OLD!" I didn't care too much about that though, because bowling is bowling! The lanes and ball return were very clean and newer looking, but the carpet and bathrooms need to be renovated. They have a small arcade area, and a restaurant inside that is surprisingly very delicious. The price of bowling is fair too. We paid $20 for 2 games and 2 shoe rentals. We had a blast!

I really want to like this place, and I will definitely be back to give it a more thorough second…read moreopinion, but for the time being, I will give it an opinion based on the things I did try and experience. I went in thinking this would be sort of a standard arcade experience, and it sort of is. The games we played worked well - no issues with the FPS game we played. Daughter really likes crane machines and is pretty darn good at them so she tried a few of those and it is laughable how bad those are. You can watch the crane prongs as they limp jiggle while pretending to "grasp" the items she legitimately snagged. Seriously, if there were any sort of tension on the crane prongs, people could actually win but you can see them jiggle back and forth as it caresses the items before snapping back closed once it clears the item and opens and closes with movement the whole way to the drop zone. I wish I had filmed how obvious it was. The arcade itself is pretty dim, which really makes it stand out that ALL of the games are bright, flashing neons. It legitimately hurt my eyes, head and made it pretty hard to see, which sucked because the flooring was coming up in a few places, which I know at least we stumbled on because you are blinded by the flashing lights. (Hey Main Event! Maybe fix the flooring over by the duck crane game before somebody actually severely injures themself because it was BAD over there.) Also, some of the games panels are off center. Not the location, but hear me out. This is one of the arcades where you spend certain amounts of money and get credits in return. Like $10=50 credits or something. Then each game has a different credit amount 7.2 credits to play this one, or 12.6 credits to play that one. But several of the games we wanted to play had the actual graphics of the card Swiper off center, so instead of "play this game. 7 credits." It would just read "ay this game. redits." Cutting off the left hand side of the screen, so you don't know how much the games costs until after you swipe your card. Which kind of sucks when the games each nickel and dime you. That's already my least favorite type of arcade, but that definitely makes it worse. I'll probably go back and give this place one more chance because I do love other places LIKE this, but so far, this has been my least favorite one I've been to and my nerdy self has a pretty large sample size to compare it to. And I'll take a LOT more ibuprofen before I go.

There's a lot going on between the arcade, bowling, laser tag, restaurant, and bar, so it definitely has that big entertainment-center feel. It was lively without being overly crowded when we first arrived, although it got much busier later in the evening. When we walked in, we looked around and eventually seated ourselves because there was no hostess, waiter, bartender, or anyone around to direct us. We waited for quite a while without really knowing if we were supposed to order somewhere or if someone was going to come to the table. I took my daughter to the restroom and there was no paper available to dry our hands. I walked to the main register to ask for napkins or paper towels, but they didn't have any either, so I ended up walking back toward the restaurant area to grab a napkin. After waiting at the table for so long, I actually called the restaurant from my phone to ask if they were still serving food or if someone was going to come over. Shortly after, someone finally approached us and explained that they had been busy taking an order over by the bowling lanes. It definitely seemed like they were short-staffed and everyone was covering different areas. I understand that happens, but as a guest it was confusing because there was no direction and we didn't know who was supposed to be helping us. The menu was okay--not a huge selection, but we found things everyone wanted. We ordered loaded nachos, boneless chicken wings, corn dogs, a few beers, and two iced teas. The food was good and our server was okay, but the interaction felt more like taking our order than actual hospitality. He never asked if it was our first visit, explained how things worked, or recommended anything. Our kids were also never offered refills on their iced teas. After eating, we closed our tab and went to the arcade. The games were fun overall, although a few took our credits without actually working. We had to ask for assistance, but they did return the credits, which we appreciated. They also have bowling, which was pretty packed by the time we left, and we tried the laser tag. Laser tag was actually a lot of fun! My only complaint there was that the employee running it was not very friendly and gave very little explanation about how to put on or use the equipment. When you have families with younger kids, a little patience and guidance goes a long way. Overall, the atmosphere is fun and there's plenty to keep both kids and adults entertained. We enjoyed ourselves once we got into the activities, but the hospitality and organization need some improvement. A little more communication, friendliness, and attention to guests would make the entire experience much better.

We booked a party here for my daughter's birthday and for $350 we were able to host 10 little girls for a game of bowling, a game of putt putt golf, a game of laser tag and then time in the arcade ($15 each). If you look at the deals on their website (there are some cheaper than what we paid), they will tell you what is included: ours included the above-mentioned events plus our own part room that is already decorated, 2 pizzas, unlimited soda (2 choices), cupcakes, plates, gift bags and your own event coordinator. All you have to do is show up with your kid. The kids had a great time and the staff were attentive and kept the party moving.

Definitely frustrating when you go to a normal bowling alley and all they have are leagues so I highly recommend if you want to bowl to come here and try and get one of their lanes. What else we did was the black light wizard golf, a nine hole very quick putt putt experience that had entertaining decor that reminded me a lot of Harry Potter themes, but just on this side of copyrights. My husband and I finished the nine hole mini golf in about 12 minutes and there was a mix of challenging and easy on the course. Definitely more for kids or families with small children, but still fun if you want to do some putt putt as part of a date night or with friends. They have about 29 games to play and you can redeem tickets for prizes. They have laser tag but we didn't try it so no review to offer there. I do want to say I saw a two lane Small Children bumper bowl lanes with the petite balls for small kids' hands! Totally great for your mini-me's!

We asked for red sangria, and the bar tender told us to try the bar upstairs because she would have to make it and "it would be a little bit" before she could make the drinks. We tried upstairs and they didn't have it either. We came back down and told her they didn't have it either, she told us she would make it for us. She made her version of sangria. Which wasn't too bad. But we seemed to be an inconvenience overall. I don't really have a desire to return to this bar.

It's a cute location in a cute area; it had such a fun, authentic vibe outside and in. We came in and wanted to get straight to bowling, and the staff member who set us up was helpful and friendly. The alley area is pretty small, as it's only four lanes. But while I'm sure that could be a disappointment on a crowded night, we found the small size to be conducive to chatting with each other as we played. It's definitely different from standard bowling: you don't wear bowling shoes, the pins are attached to strings that pull them up (as opposed to freestanding pins at a standard alley), and you use smaller, hole-free balls. You also get three throws per frame as opposed to two. I'm not good at bowling, and I'm -- so far -- not good at the duck pin variant. But I didn't find it frustrating, just fun to learn and play! I managed no strikes and a whopping one spare, although I did find the advice posted on the walls helped me get a bit better. I think there is a type of person (someone who takes bowling seriously, or maybe too seriously) who wouldn't enjoy this, but it's really entertaining if you can go in with a good mindset. And not having to find shoes or bowling balls that fit is a huge plus. As far as timing, it took us about an hour and 15 minutes to play two full games; we didn't rush, but we didn't daddle, either. They charge by the hour or half hour, and we paid for our first hour then added a half hour to finish out a second game. A couple who came in about halfway through our visit managed to just squeeze in 10 frames in 30 minutes. We didn't explore the (intriguing) upstairs area, but I did get a fabulous drink -- the Saturn -- at the bar. While I felt like the bowling was a little pricey (not unreasonably priced, to be clear, just something I couldn't afford quite as often), I was surprised at the great value of the drink. Plus, it was delicious -- super well-balanced -- and the bartender was lovely. Even outside of the bowling fun, I could see this being a regular hangout for me if I lived in the area. But even though it's more than an hour from home for me, I'll absolutely take family and friends up to visit when I can. It's an awesome place to have in the region.
