Place is clean and inviting. I was there 5.30 on a Saturday, barely anyone. Right on point 5.55pm a crowd trickled in. So if you can arrive at 5...you will experience very quick service. If you arrive at 6.15 you will notice a crowded place. Food flavor was fantastic! I eat a lot and with that flavor I did want a slightly larger portion. Easy street parking. My wife and I visited Pints & Union for St. Patty's Day. We had a blast. The bartenders, busy as they were, found time to ,are us feel welcome. Never rushed us and gave excellent advice on their various beers. I'm not a Guinness fan, so I was steered toward a Guinness lager, Harp. Great suggestion, very much like the lite beers I prefer, just ore full flavored. My wife chose a Daredevil Dark Ale, almost coffee like in flavor and exceptionally drinkable. Even for a lightweight like me. I ordered fish & chips for dinner. Two large, lightly breaded and crispy pieces of cod on top of a good sized portion of crispy fries served piping hot. My wife went with fried cauliflower and hummus with naan. The cauliflower was a disappointment. Heavily coated in breading, deep fried and then tossed in a wing sauce. The menu didn't really explain the dish accurately. Not bad. Just not what we expected. There were two dancers from Ryan's Academy and they were a joy to watch. They really added to the evening. Our fellow patrons were friendly, most were willing to strike up a conversation. Finally, when we checked out, our bartender brought out the remainder of the days hummus. Not enough for a full order, so he added it to our takeout. Good food. Cold beer. Nice people. Excellent, friendly service. What's not to like? read more

Randomly stopped in after dinner on a Saturday night. We lucked out- there was one booth open. Bartender hollered and said come up to order when you're ready, QR code menu on the tables. So we sat down and scanned the QR. I was surprised they have food- lamb curry that night sounded good but we had just eaten. They had one cocktail. Otherwise, beers and wines. You could see they have a ton of whiskey on the bar wall. But I wasn't sure what they had for gin? This place is more of a dive bar than a cocktail bar Nothing fancy, but they can make whatever you ask for. I had a boulevardier. It was delicious and pretty. TVs were playing old He-man cartoons lol. Hand sanitizer on the tables. Last call at 10 pm. A little strange. Maybe a covid curfew? So we requested an Uber, finished our drinks and left. Celebrated Louisville Burger Week here at this cool place! You order at the bar and the servers bring your food to you. We knew right away what we wanted so it didn't take us long to order! We both enjoyed a beer and ordered the hummus with naan bread for an appetizer. The naan bread was outstanding! Hummus was good too! We both got the burger special, the Union smashburger with fries. Louis the Ton was a neighborhood favorite, so we were devestated when the owner decided to sell. However, we were overjoyed to hear that our Ton bartender was opening his own place across the Bridge. Pints & Union is in Downtown New Albany in a lovely block of quaint shops & restaurants. The decor is eclectic with mixed lighting, taxidermy, and a reading & games area. We bellied up to the spacious bar and perused the menu. I love a shandy and they have several to choose from on the cocktail menu. I chose the Banned in N.A. and it was delicious! Holy aioli was a huge bowl of fries with a trio of mayos - curry, sriracha, and garlic- lime. Sriracha was my pick. My friend ordered another shandy and adored it. Wish I lived closer to Pints & Union because it's got a homey vibe and serves inventive drinks. I'll definitely stop in next time I'm shopping in historic downtown N.A. read more

We really liked this place. Really cool and unique atmosphere to hang out. Great selection of beers (my kind of place) both on tap - and the beer can/bottle list will take you a half hour to absorb. Sierra Nevada Celebration IPA ($6) and Daredevil Liftoff IPA ($8) were my choices and if I say so...excellent selections. We ordered the Red Lentil Hummus ($9) which was a little thin in consistency but the serving of seasoned naan was fantastic! We also went with the Chicken Chili Cheese Nachos ($10) and I can say we've never had anything quite like that before. The bed of naan bread was really special (notice a theme here) and the flavors they put together on this plate we thoroughly enjoyed. In fact, we couldn't stop eating them. Service was fine....but keep in mind you need to go to the bar to order for both food and drink. read more

Finally stopped in to highly-recommended Pints & Union September 2020 for a quick drink (COVID 'review' at the end). Building is another in a long line of repurposed structures in downtown New Albany...and another great job of making something out of what was previously nothing. There is a long, solid feeling bar and several booths, as well as a common 'pub style' area at the front. There is a staircase that may or may not lead to additional seating/bar area - we didn't explore (COVID). Overall feel is of a 'rich mahogany and leather-bound books' vibe. Very good selection and variety of beers on tap and in bottles. They were out of what we really wanted, and the barkeep made a suggestion for a substitute and we very much liked what he came up with for us. Looking at the menu, there seem to be some interesting signature cocktails etc as well as their plentiful beer selections. I don't think anyone will leave thirsty. We didn't eat, but their menu indicated it'd be right up our alley. Think 'accessible upscale bar food' and you'll probably visualize their food options. They do also have veggie options which is cool. It seems like they 'host' local food trucks every so often as well...might be cool to check out. Vibe seemed subdued while we were there mid-afternoon on a Saturday, with some obvious regulars milling about and lookee-loos like us checking things out. Seems like things could get a bit crowded in there w/he design and space limitations, but was fine when we visited. *In terms of COVID precautions, we felt they were doing as good a job as possible changing up their procedures to accommodate the local restrictions and the needs of their guests. All workers we saw were masked, and they were distancing people and limiting capacity at the time we were there in Sep. 2020* It took us a while to get there, but we will definitely be back. Did a mini New Albany crawl as there are tons of places very walkable and circled back to this one to close it down. Great experience based on food selection, beer choices, and staff/crowd interaction. Only complaint, barmaid poured using a shot glass, no free pours but I was doing pints that night. We went to Pints&union one night for trivia night. It was our first time being on that side of the river and sometime and painting union was a refreshing your spot. It is a British themed pub which was really quite enjoyable. It's a cute space and they have a lot of options. The trivia was great. It's held in the upstairs area of the spot and you can go downstairs and order drinks and food. All of our drinks were fantastic with some very specific beers that we had not seen elsewhere. My friend got fries and a burger which she enjoyed. My other friend got wings which were a lot larger than anticipated and tasty. I got the saag paneer. I've said it before and I'll say it again, I LOVE the nachos made with naan and yogurt marinated chicken. So obviously, when I saw Naanchos on the carry out menu, I ordered that right up! I was a little worried about what the difference might be between ordering the food in-house and taking it to go - but it still tasted great and I have no complaints! Went to Pints&union last night to meet a friend for a drink. Fell in love with the place. Excellent chill music, not too loud. European pub style. Gorgeous restored building. Dark wood but well lit. Booths with glass windows separating them. Upstairs dining area too. Fantastic food. Excellent beer selection. Unbelievable bourbon list too. Had the hummus to share at the bar with a girlfriend. Served with fresh and warm pita. Really good. I was enjoying the vibe so much I called the hubby and insisted he join us. He enjoyed a few beers on tap with his favorite being the Bells Two Hearted. We will continue to explore this evolving selection. For me it was bourbon. Rare bourbon at fantastic prices. We ended up staying for dinner and both had the Fall Break Burger with bacon, Brie, apple chutney and lettuce. Fries with that. Perfectly cooked and crispy fries. Some of the best fries I've ever had, frankly. The owners are absolutely concerned with the safety of their team and their customers. So much so that they changed their business model to a more restaurant-centric focus. And they've hit a home run. Quality is unquestionable. Did you know they also have 2 air purification systems? I had two regrets after my first visit to Pints & Union. First, I had waited so long to try it. Second, I really wish it had been winter when I did. The second regret first. This place has a great feel, like an old-world English pub with just enough punk rock mixed in to keep it from feeling too curated. There are a ton of unique little touches and I really appreciated the time and thought that went into creating the feel. I genuinely wanted to look out the massive front windows and see gray skies and the errant snowflake rather than the beautiful spring day blossoming to punctuate the English feel. Rarely do I have that desire. The layout downstairs could be a little wonky, with a long bar along the right wall and individual booths along the left with a loooooooong brass barrier to keep the kids out of the bar area. This wouldn't be an issue at all except that you order food and drinks at the bar. If you are going to make multiple trips, like I did, and you don't choose wisely, like I didn't, you're going to be racking up quite a few steps going back and forth, not to mention squeezing by your fellow patrons while balancing your beverages. Upstairs is great, with a dining area as well as a gaming area. I can't imaging two groups of people each playing Settlers of Catan, but they could! Of note, the restrooms are also upstairs, so if you have a disability that precludes you from stair use, this may be an issue unless other accommodations are available that I didn't see. I also wish I'd visited sooner! The drink and food options are not expansive, but are unique. Don't expect to find 10 kinds of hamburger, but you will see some really interesting choices. I need to pay attention to menu changes here because each dish we had was great! They also have a lot of cool events going on that make this a spot worth following. Husband has been there for a beer with friends and I had seen a local "magazine show" review the food, so we decided to try it. We were staying in, so we chose to order and pick up. We pulled up the menu and, sadly for me, there were only 4 options since I am GF. I was ok with it since I like curry. I chose one but unfortunately, they don't have veal as an option anymore... I told them to take it off the menu if they don't offer it. My husband got a curry option as well and wanted to try the schnitzel. Son got a double smash burger. Little did I know that was the smartest decision!!! We were told it would be ready in 10-15 minutes (???) and it was. Came home, unpacked everything. It all looked good, smelled good and their containers were top notch and reusable/recyclable. Other than the son's burger, that's where the good times stopped!! I started to eat my curry and loved the sauce, but was upset by the very crunchy rice. When I found the 3 small pieces of chicken, the first was alright, but the second one was raw, as I bit into it and I pulled the 3rd out and cut into it, but it was raw too. My husband was warned, by me, about the chicken and rice. He liked the sauce he chose but found the rice crunchy and didn't bother to eat the chicken after my experience. He decided to eat the schnitzel but it was o we cooked and not seasoned at all. Honestly, I thought about ordering the double smash burger with a bun, and no American cheese (because I eat fake cheese), but thought I would love the curry options since a "magazine show that I trusted, reviewed the food. Lessons learned: don't trust people when they are could be getting paid by the restaurant. I will NEVER trust anything I watch on Extol Magazine's SoIN again!! read more

I am a fan after a one time try! Four stars for now and after attempt 2 it maybe worthy of the 5. I visited with few friends (order at the bar, food brought to the table) and they had drinks (everyone liked them) and variety of dishes including Naan Basket, Mirchi ka Pakoda (jalapeño poppers), Vegetable Pakora, chicken & paneer Vindaloo, Union Burger (comes smashed served with fries & curry ketchup) and extra union sauce, and finally a veal & chicken Saag! I love how they added the uk national dish (tikka masala) and other curries to their menu. Do not expect this 100% authentic Indian food but you can 100% taste it the flavor and it is abit close! It is all enjoyable with reasonable prices and large portions. I just love the twist, the burger and the their dishes and virgin and alcoholic drinks were nothing to complain about. We enjoyed ourself and everything. I will be back again to support this business. This is an easy 5 stars. Great location in Downtown New Albany that's currently being revamped a lot. Inside the bar is a very welcoming atmosphere. The staff are super cool and attentive. Outback there is a patio and they have an upstairs with plenty of seating. The food was really good. Tikka Masala Nachos was great, Scotch Egg was really good and the Burger was incredible. Pints & Union is exactly what downtown New Albany has needed for a while: an ambient, cozy space with a delicious-sounding menu and -- most importantly -- solid drinks at good prices. Not gonna name names here, but for a while it seemed like Louisville Prices ($17-per-burger-no-sides) were seeping over the Ohio River, and this extortion can not stand, man. Listen up: P&U serves a $6 burger with carmelized onions, mayo, house-made ketchup and mustard, and velveeta for six bucks. $6! I don't eat meat anymore but even I know some of those $17 burgers don't quite stack up, and none of them are crowned with America's favorite cheese-ish condiment. Annnyway! It wasn't on the proper menu so be sure to look into specials from your friendly barkeep. Speaking of food: Normally, I would dock a star for limited veg* options, but I'm not even mad, bro. It doesn't make much sense to order a full meal from a bar most of the time, since all I usually want when drinking is a salty snack. P&U's Lebanese pickles ($4) hit the spot. The food menu as a whole looks pretty delicious with lots of Indian/English inspired pub food, so I can't wait to check back with friends to see if it's appreciated. Solid beer list, as to be expected if you've ever experienced the magic previously known as Rich O's. They allow half pours of all draft beers, and the gin cocktail I ordered was also delicious. The bartenders are knowledgeable and helpful. If we still lived in New Albany, I'd be here way too much, so as it is, I'm pretty stoked to come back and have a cozy place to catch up with friends. I'm sick of restaurants that don't have table service--especially if they offer a menu that isn't just beer and bar food. However, despite being a self-service place, Pints & Union was pretty good. I went there with a group of coworkers on a Wednesday evening and the place was busy--but not at all packed. They have plenty of bar space and 4-tops downstairs. We sat upstairs where they have two larger format tables. The food was solid and a sorta Indian-German fusion which was interesting. My Chicken tikka masala sandwich was good and everyone else at the table seemed to enjoy their food too. read more
