I went to PT Solutions for Occupational Therapy. The therapist was Tim Lupien…read more At my first visit, Tim barely looked at the paperwork I brought from my doctor, asked me two questions (one was "does it hurt here?"), and explained my problem as if he were bored to tears and had said those exact words a million times before. (I was later to find out, from another OT, he misdiagnosed my issue.) He did not warm up my wrist before he started me on exercises. I thought that was strange, but I'd never been to an OT before, and stupidly trusted his knowledge. There were 2 clients, both of us scheduled for the same time frame. We were a captive audience as the "All About Tim Show" continued. He talked nearly non-stop, and a lot of times he stopped our treatment so he could finish a boring story about himself and his family-- he seemed particularly frustrated with his son. When he wasn't looking, the other client, who had been seeing him for awhile, looked at me and rolled her eyes. At the end of the session, he was ready for lunch and eager for me to leave. I asked him what home treatment I should be doing. He distractedly told me to do what I'd done there. I asked if there would be a list of these exercises coming through MyChart in the paperwork that comes through after the visit. He said yes. I left. (I never did get anything through MyChart, but luckily I suspected that and had noted the exercises as soon as I got to my car.) A few days later, I was back for my second appt. I was told to go sit at Tim's table. Tim ignored me while he finished the story he was telling the other client about his high school days. It was lengthy. And boring. Then he turned to me and then looked at his laptop. And back. Asked if this was my first visit. Yeah, he not only didn't recognize me, but he had not put anything in my file, so he had no idea what he'd done the last time. He had to ask me. Lovely, no plan for my rehab. And he had to tell another story before he went to get a warming pad for me. As soon as he was out of earshot, the other client said, "Tim's a talker." We both rolled our eyes and laughed. A third client came sat at Tim's table. The first client left a little later, leaving just us two. She rolled her eyes at me a lot as Tim told story after story about himself. After 20 minutes with the warming pad, Tim had me doing an exercise (after asking me if I had done it at my first visit-- I had, so no need for instruction and he could get back to his story). In his story, he mentioned pizza, and suddenly that was his focus-- LUNCH. He yelled to another therapist to ask if she also wanted pizza for lunch. She said she did, but while Tim immediately stopped working with his 2 clients to order his part, she told him she'd be over to order hers when she finished with her client. He kept bugging her to come over and finish the order, but her priority was the client. Tim's clearly wasn't, and isn't. After I had been doing this exercise for 15 minutes, and it was getting painful, I stopped and stared at him when I wasn't checking the clock. He let me sit there 10 minutes while he kept anxiously working on his pizza order (he changed his mind), and changed exercises for the other client. After I had been there 40 minutes, I had had my hand warmed and done ONE exercise and mainly just sat there listening to him tell stories and order his pizza. Seriously? This is what I was paying for? I got up, wished him and the other client a good day, and I left. Tim said nothing, the other client asked if I was leaving because I was experiencing pain. Just steps away from Tim's table, I told the woman at the desk that I was done and to please cancel the 5 appts I had upcoming. I was at the desk for quite awhile, and yet Tim never came up to ask me why I'd left in the middle of my session. He "discharged" me days later via MyChart. I had to laugh that there was nothing written in the discharge-- still never put anything about me or my rehab in my file. I'm guessing he still doesn't remember me. I found another OT, and while he works on other clients while seeing me, he correctly diagnosed my problem and the exercise plan is helping a lot. If you are stuck with Tim because of insurance, find another PT Solutions OT. I've heard from friends other OTs in the PTS network are really wonderful. If you have no choice but Tim, bring earplugs. You'll thank me later.

Background / History I tore my left meniscus a few years…read moreback - and tried (unsuccessfully) to do PT with Wellstar. Lol. After getting more and more frustrated with the 'life limitations' imposed by my knee issue, I decided to try PT again this year. I went to PT Solutions first, but the co-pay was higher and therapist / patient ratio seemed a bit 'bloated,' so I decided to try Benchmark. Exterior They're in a small strip mall just past Home Depot. In fact, I typically turn like I'm going to the contractor side of HD, to get to them. There's a skate shop, nail salon and Dominican hair salon in the plaza, but I never had any issues with parking. Interior The space is small but not cluttered. My favorite thing is the fact that they have the 'Total Gym' style machine that allows you to do assisted squats. In fact, I liked it so much that after moving on to another facility that didn't have that particular machine, I bought one for home use. Customer Service I had a heck of a time trying to get in touch with Benchmark (tried the EW Connector location too). Here's some tips for anyone that has my same experiences: - If you are a new patient and can't get anyone to answer when you choose option 2, just try option 1. - If you can't get anyone to answer the phone when you try option 1, use the web form to contact them. - If you need any questions answered, try to call before 3:45pm - if you're having trouble accessing the Medbridge Home Exercise portal, you might have to go settings and add it as an accepted site. Before this, every browser I attempted seem to think it was an unsafe site. - Despite the hours posted online, they are only open late one day a week (Thursday). Trying to get my first appointment scheduled took WEEKS. When I called, I couldn't get a live person. And if I left a message, they'd call me back while I was asleep (despite my vmail asking them to call after 1pm). And even once I had my first appt, when I called back to schedule future visits, TWICE I got someone who told me they didn't know how to schedule and that I should call back the next day to schedule. It took several attempts for my first appointment, but Elizabeth (Libby) finally reached out to me and helped get me scheduled. I saw Nick first. He was great. Then Libby worked with me. She was amazing. And when Libby went out for surgery, Kayla worked with me. She was phenomenal as well. The only thing I found a bit strange, and I've noticed that this seems to be the case with all PT clinics - is that the support staff is almost mute. Even pre-pandemic, I've never loved it when strangers walk or stand close to me. Add to that, I'm from a small town, so I'm used to people making eye contact and saying hello. At the direction of the therapists, every now and then the support staff, I think they're called technicians, will come over to adjust a machine, set a timer and just help, in general. I found it a bit jarring / disconcerting to have someone come over to me, stand 2 or 3 inches from me and not say, "Hi, I'm so & so. I'll just be doing xyz right now." And when entering the facility, if I walked in and said hello, they would just stare mutely. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not expecting 'welcome to Moe's' when I walk in, but for me - please don't make eye contact with me and not smile, nod or say hello. It makes me feel awkward and self-conscious. Please, instead, just don't make eye contact. I do think it may be a generational thing - because they are all very young. The other thing I wish is that they'd offer an option to pay before treatment. On a couple of occasions, once I was done, I had rubber legs & all I wanted to was exit & flop in my car, but instead I had to stand there & check out. Lol. Price / Value I had a $20 co-pay for each visit, but prices vary dependent on insurance plans of course. They do have pretty affordable self-pay prices as well. Overall Overall, I liked the therapists a lot. I think the scheduling process could use major some work and I wish communicating with them was easier, but I think this facility will work well for anyone who works a traditional 9 - 5 and doesn't sleep like a vampire. Speaking of scheduling - I stopped going here because after 8 visits, the person upfront (never got her name) was supposed to be getting insurance approvals for additional visits. She was supposed to call me the Fri after Thanksgiving to schedule me for the rest of my 2023 visits. Of course, she didn't. I called Monday, but she'd left already. They finally called me Tuesday while I was asleep ... so then we played phone tag for 3 more days. When I FINALLY got ahold of someone, my Mon & Wed 3pm time slots were basically all booked up and they weren't able to accommodate me. I wound up reaching back out to PT Solutions and discovered that there had been a billing error and that my co-pay with them was, in fact, $20 - so I went back to PT Solutions, but to a less-busy facility.

I chose PT Solutions of Dallas because of proximity to my home and based on recommendations from trusted sources. I went with expectations of professionalism and compassion and received the exact opposite. From the moment I walked in the door, I was met with paperwork that seemed unending and then told I had to pay out of pocket $570 for the initial visit, $350 dollars for the next 3 visits, and $75 each subsequent visit. I did not receive a call from anyone prior to my appointment explaining my insurance benefits and was told this is what I would have to pay or I could just get billed. My understanding is we only owe a co-pay with our plan and have met a deductible but no one at the site seemed to have knowledge of our coverage. I did receive an evaluation from a PT that only lasted approximately 20 minutes during which the PT was very distracted with other clients in the gym. I felt I was ignored and he wasn't listening to me about my symptoms. I did not receive any education about my condition or new information to guide me in my exercise program. I had already received a home program from my orthopedist, and this PT did not review or contribute in any way to the program. At the end of the session, he performed a manual technique that caused extra pain and did help my symptoms. He was very unresponsive to my questions and dismissive. The gym was crowded, and I was also handed off to an assistant to perform exercises that were very difficult for me but the PT was not attentive and confusing in his communication. Would not recommend this location at all and very disappointed in my experience.

She called me sweetie and within 2 minutes felt like it was her job to give me her "shpeal" as she put it about bring my CT scan and that I needed to do that and not always does their system work or can they log into Wellstar. I was trying to explain to her that it was an old CT scan and then she stated "Well then we don't need that and it doesn't matter" after cracking her knuckles and berating me. She was snappy and rude. My husband even was shocked at how she was speaking to me. I told her I would speak to my Dr about these matters at which time she just looked at me like I was being rude. She didn't realize at all that I have been in the medical field for 30 plus years and would never speak to a patient this way. She continued to talk to me like she was my Dr! at which time I again said, I will speak to my Dr about these things. Then she kind of laughed and walked out of the room with a huff. I did mention this to my very wonderful Dr. who was very professional and listened. I will stay a patient. Even when checking me out the MA came in, rolled her tongue over her teeth, cracked her neck with a head roll, and proceeded to ask me (thank God) yes or no questions about getting an MRI. Thank God I'm very well versed in all of this procedure so it was short. She really needs a class on speaking to patients that are in pain and new to the facility. And, she is NOT a Dr. she has no right to be acting this way at all as a medical assistant
