This property management company is a nightmare to deal with AND the cabin we rented (Bearadise) was pretty dumpy. There are VERY strict policies about pretty much everything including check in and check out times. But I read the agreement and knew the rules. Since the key is onsite I figured they tracked check in and check out with an electronic lock box. Wrong. it's a standard lock box. Instead, the moment we drove up the near 90 degree death trap driveway (not visible from any listing photos) we were greeted with a camera placed in the owners' shed pointed directly at us and the hot tub/porch area. It also swiveled while we watched it. So they're totally spying. We found another camera inside the cabin! We unplugged it. You MUST report issues within 2 hours of arriving...another rule I found odd implying they know you'll find stuff and speak now or forever hold your peace! We called about the cameras and the total invasion of privacy, two fluorescent light fixtures not working, and the disgusting and obvious stained sheets and comforter on one of the beds. I don't know how you don't see these stains when you're making the bed. The guy seemed totally befuddled by our very real issues with the cameras and blamed it on the homeowners and had just said "I doubt they work"...except we'd seen them move. We were totally put off by their "sorry not sorry" attitude. With the first complaint I was told "well you're free to leave!" We hadn't even been there an hour. Another woman called the next day and we got new sheets but were also told "yeah that fluorescent light is just finicky" and just deal with it basically. That would be OK if it wasn't the single source of light in these dungeon like basement rooms with black ceilings and next to no natural light. They obviously are aware of issues and choose not to address them. Which brings me to the photographs in the property listing. I am not sure what kind of amazing cinematographer they hired but the force perspective and lighting they used made me feel like I was renting a cheerful Bear themed cabin with a great room for gathering, not a bear nightmare that was so dark in every room you could barely see to cook, brush your teeth or do your make up. Not to mention the main living space is like half the size of what it looks like in the photos. Later inspection revealed the oven hadn't been cleaned and there were roaches in the lower level. A kitchen chair leg was broken but not immediately visible and someone fell out of the chair and injured themselves. An overall lack of pride of ownership of the cabin and no maintenance ever was apparent. We would call, they would sort of act like they cared but not so much and the cycle continued. On our last day we woke up to find there was no water in the house. Apparently some local contractors had been working and cut the water line to neighborhood we learned. Given this was the morning we went out and about and made sure we let them know to keep us updated on the status. Around 5 PM we called and they had nothing to report and said well we heard it might be tonight but we asked if they would go and check and they said no we're just a property management company and offered no solutions. I understand the cause of the lack of water was not in their control but it's all in how they respond to it. They could not have been more rude and once again we were told "you're welcome to leave at anytime". This being the evening time and the fact that we had flights the next day our plans were less than flexible as to where we were going to drive and find somewhere else to sleep. There was never once an offer for how about some gallons of water brought to the house or to suggest we stay in another one of their many cabins for the night. No solution or accommodations were made for the fact that the cabin we rented had no running water for seven people. Luckily the water came back on about 7pm. We checked out early the next day and won't be back.

I was worried it might be too small, but it was just right! I stayed in the loft bedroom's king sized bed and my friend stayed on the queen sized sleeper sofa downstairs. We had perfect timing and got to see the leaves changing color and enjoy the cool weather (being from South Florida these are both unusual!) We cooked some of our meals at the cabin in the well-stocked kitchen. There is a full fridge, stove/oven and a full set of dishes, glasses, cooking utensils and silverware. It got cold enough that we made hot apple cider and lit the wood burning fireplace. It was also nice to have the hot tub to soak in after a day out on the town in the cold. The nearby town of Helen is an adorable Bavarian Alpine Village with great little shops and restaurants. We also drove to nearby Dahlonega to check out the shops and artists there. We were able to go horseback riding at the Sunburst Stables in Clarkesville and we also took a trip to the North Georgia Zoo in Cleveland - I highly recommend both! I can't wait to come back in the summer to enjoy some more outdoor activities like tubing on the Chattahoochee River or boating on Unicoi Lake at Unicoi State Park.

I loved the windows looking out across the mountain. Not sure we have ever had such a beautiful view anywhere else. We enjoyed getting up in the morning and sitting in the hot tub to watch the sunrise over the mountain. It was so nice to have the hot tub right off the bedroom. The cabin had every thing we needed...charm, coziness, cookware, coffee maker, beautiful view, hot tub, jacuzzi. We could tell that a lot of thought was put into this place. We would definitely go back! We were a a short drive away from Clarkesville which had nice food, and of course we loved visiting the Old Sautee store, and coffee place across the road. For us, this was a great place to wind down, reconnect, and enjoy the quiet. We had no planned agenda except to escape the tyranny of the urgent and to enjoy our marriage. Cabin Rentals of Helen - Mouse dropping that we woke up to

Cabin Rentals of Helen

The home itself was great- nice amenities, layout, neighborhood and location…read more Upon check-in on Wednesday we discovered sticky mouse traps throughout the home and found a mouse the following day (Thursday). The property management company was immediately made aware of the situation and said that they would send someone to clean the home, but stated that pest control had serviced the home the day before and that it's very hard to catch a single mouse. We returned home from a hike on Thursday after the cleaning crew had reportedly cleaned to discover mouse droppings throughout the home and subsequently took it upon ourselves to call the exterminator that had serviced the home prior to our arrival. The exterminator came quickly and laid out more sticky traps. The property management company provided us with the maid's contact information and we arranged for housekeeping to come that afternoon. Mind you, housekeeping only vacuumed and mopped the kitchen and dining room, even though we were not eating in the house for fear of sanitation concerns. We woke up Friday morning to mouse droppings and chewed up glue traps covering the kitchen floor, mouse droppings on the kitchen counter and a torn up glue trap under the couch with clumps of hair adhered to it. My husband had to scrub the floors with Clorox wipes as cleaning services were unavailable when this was discovered at 7:45 AM and we didn't want our toddlers touching and/or putting mouse droppings or pieces of sticky traps in their mouths. Upon notifying the property management company of our findings Friday morning (halfway through our stay) they offered to relocate us to a different home, however, the layout of that home was not suitable for our family which is why we did not rent that home when looking at properties. I contacted the exterminator who returned to the home and voiced concerns about a possible rat based on the appearance of the hair on the trap. I also contacted housekeeping to coordinate their return to the home. My husband and I notified the property management company about the exterminator's concerns and also expressed our growing frustrations with the situation and requested that some of our stay be compensated given that the rodent hadn't been caught and the alternative home offered was not appropriate for our family. They ensured us that they would do everything they could to try to make it right. On Saturday morning (the day before our trip ended) we caught a mouse with one of the snap traps that my husband purchased. In spite of housekeeping servicing the property daily my mother-in-law discovered mouse droppings in her pillowcase when she stripped the sheets on the day of our departure. After our stay had ended we made several attempts to contact the property management company about updates regarding the pending refund, but did not hear back from them until I escalated the situation to Vrbo. They offered to refund us for one of the four nights that we stayed in the home. We understand that situations especially those involving wildlife and pests can be difficult to control, however, we do find it irresponsible that the home was rented knowing that there was an active rodent infestation because we would not have stayed there had we been privy to this information. Now we are in the process of contacting the homeowner to make him/ her aware of the lack of support and care Cabin Rentals of Helen provided.
