It's been a long time since I stepped into a Pinkberry... probably the last time was down in Southern California years ago with an old friend. Funny how certain places can instantly bring back memories. After finishing a movie at Palladio in Folsom, I looked over and saw a pretty solid crowd gathered around Pinkberry. Anytime I see a crowd at a dessert spot my curiosity kicks in, so I figured why not go investigate. The moment I walked in I was greeted right away, and it felt genuine, not forced. Always a good start. As I scanned the flavors one immediately caught my eye... pomegranate. That was an easy decision. I loaded it up, added some fruit on top, and just like that I was in business. The flavor was refreshing, bright, and exactly what frozen yogurt should be after a movie... light, sweet, and satisfying without feeling heavy. Ordered the Dubai chocolate cup and wanted to add the milk chocolate crunch to it. 2 young girls refused to add it saying they weren't allowed to even if I paid for it. I then said, okay well if I order a single flavor of frozen yogurt can I add the milk chocolate crunch to that? And she says, well I can sell you the milk chocolate crunch "on the side", and I'm like ok, that's what I wanted...a side of the milk chocolate crunch to add to my Dubai chocolate cup. Then she says, "no, we can't put it in your Dubai chocolate cup, we have to put it in a separate cup because we have to charge you for the side cup." I'm like okay, fine charge me but save your cup and just put it on top of my Dubai chocolate cup. Then she says we can't do that. Resigned, I said ok just put it in the side cup. She proceeds to add the scoop of the milk chocolate crunch in a small side cup, hands me my Dubai chocolate cup, and I dump the milk chocolate crunch into my Dubai chocolate cup and throw the little side cup they insisted on giving me. Where is the common sense? Both young ladies working there at 8:35 pm on Thursday April 9 did not have any common sense at all. If someone wants to add an additional topping for a charge, why wouldn't you allow them to? I purchased the exact same thing just last week without any issues. The prior staff understood, charged me for the extra topping and simply added a scoop of the chocolate crunch to my Dubai chocolate cup. Pinkberry is my favorite dessert. There are two Pinkberry locations, one at the Palladio and the other in El Dorado Hills by the cinemas. The Palladio Pinkberry has good kids working there, nice service, but the complaint is they are stingy in their portion size. You purchase a medium, and they barely fill the cup even halfway, and then they are stingy on toppings too. I started going to the El Dorado Hills PinkBerry, because they actually serve you a full size portion with all the toppings you want. When I brought the issue to attention of the girl serving the yogurt she stated that most likely it's due to packaging of the cups. I said it shouldn't be inside the good! Perfect treat after dinner or shopping! My sister and I walked in on Wednesday evening and the gals behind the counter were friendly and fast. I ordered a small half pomegranate and half peach. I love that their frozen yogurt isn't too sweet but rather more tart. They had lots of toppings available and the fruit seemed pretty fresh. This establishment is stingy and makes you feel unwelcome. For $7 you get a tiny portion of yogurt and they say the portion size is the same as before. Felt like I was begging them for food. Stopped in last night with a $10.00 gift certificate. It was my second time at this location and it will definitely not be my last. When you walk up you tell the cashier what size, frozen yogurt flavor and toppings you would like on your creation. I decided on a medium sized dairy free coconut milk coconut frozen yogurt, after trying a free sample and it was the best flavor I have ever had despite being dairy free! For my toppings I chose coconut flakes, mini chocolate chips, mini yogurt chips, toasted almonds and a waffle cookie, it turned out delicious! My only complaint would be that the cashier who rung me up had trouble figuring how to redeem my gift certificate. She was nice enough tho to let me leave and said she would figure it out. They aren't ever rude to us, they just seem like teenagers without good instruction or an example to follow in customer service. Inspiring leadership is needed and missing (at least the times we go there). Again, I wouldn't say they are ever rude to us at all. I think they are trying to be kind but don't know how to seem excited about their customers and what they are doing. The portion size is absolutely lacking. The tips of the ice cream (yogurt) barely, barely cross above the top of the bowl. It's a very empty-ish bowl for the cost or even if it was cheap... fill the bowls :) I love the flavor and quality. I love them serving it rather than me serving myself. I'm sure the staff will get more excited about their jobs. They just need to be inspired from leadership and maybe some gift card bonuses when their name appears in a review. We hope to update this rating soon. You should join their free rewards they have it in an app and can just scan your phone at the register. I got a free small yogurt on my birthday last year with it. The customer service at this location is HORRIBLE! Came in and tried to order a smoothie for my son. The girl working told me they didn't have any clean blenders so I would have to wait if we wanted a smoothie. I was okay waiting until she stated it would be 15 minutes and had major attitude throughout our entire interaction. Talk about L-A-Z-Y! How long does it take to clean out a blender? This was my 2nd time getting a take it home size, 1st time at this location. Get home, open it up, it's about 3/4 full. I think, well, it was a bit of a drive, it probably melted a bit. Start scooping and the middle is HOLLOW. All told, if I was lucky, I probably got about the same amount of yogurt you would get in a large, but paid $3 more. So not very happy.
