Went here for a Yelp elite event and had a great time. The venue is a good size it was nice and clean. You can register online and come at any day or time you want. The staff are only there when you request a coach to be there. With just a few tips in less than one hour my ping pong skills improved drastically. There is a place where you can practice with a robot and I loved the little device that picks up the balls without you having to bend down to get it. I highly Recommend this spot for dates, family Or friend time. read more

Booked the private room to play some ping pong with my brother. Entering the PingPod space was a breeze with just a quick tap to activate the entrance pass. There were light switches to control the room light and the "disco lights". There was also a small soft bench to place our stuff so we didn't have to use the lockers or put our stuff on the floor. It was helpful to have replays of other players on the TV to provide guidance for our forms and playing style. I really liked how easy it was to add points by just pressing the button on the underside of the table. 1 hour of play time passed by really quickly and I'll be looking forward to my next visit. Paddles were well taken care of. Only thing is that if you want to listen to music as you play, you can only select from playlists on the tablet that's mounted on the wall instead of being able to cast your own music. I had visited their Astoria branch before and in their private pod, I was able to cast my own playlist. I think it'd be nice if they brought that option here too. There were also snacks and drinks for sale. Bathrooms were in the back by the couch. read more

I absolutely had a BLAST and lemme tell you why. When I logged into my account before walking in, I used my reservation to unlock the door. Once we got in, we walked to the very back where our private pod was to the right of the couches inside a private pod, it was quite spacious and came with ping-pong balls , paddles, and ping-pong ball scooper. There was also a music player you could play music playlists on, and a monitor could keep track of your points and plays. The room also had party lights but it was too dark to play with them exclusively on. Outside of the room you could buy some snacks and merch through the app. There were no workers there at all, which belt odd, but it all worked out just fine. People respect the space. Fav things about the VIP Private Pod -Keeping track of points and games (soooo satisfying) -Spacious af (I went with a group of 4 but you could be comfortable in there with up to 6 and feel cramped by 10) -Pong ball scooper What could be better -More light in party mode (was too dark to play with the cool lighting) We decided to go for an hour which during peak was 40 bucks. PingPod is the perfect place near Times Square to be able to get away from the crowds and enjoy ping pong at any time of the day. Being open 24/7, you book reservations on their website which then give you access to the locked building. Depending on the times, reservations can range from $15-30 per hour of play. There are about 5 different tables you can reserve, with one table having a machine that will feed you ping pong balls to practice your returns. They have a separate private room to play ping pong in that even has a disco light in case you feel like having a party while playing! If you want, you can also work with coaches who can help you improve your game as well as help you buy a custom paddle that they will help design. Finally, they do have key code lockers to use to store stuff while you play. This is an amazing idea and is located in a great place! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for something to do in this area! read more

Came here for a Yelp Event and loved it so much I came back with my friends. It's a cheap activity that is more fun then sitting at home on the couch and less expensive then going out. Completely self service so make sure you have your phone on you and charged. read more

Thank you Katey and PingPod for hosting this event. I have been to three PingPod locations so far. This is the only location with the partial ping pong table with an automatic machine that spits out ping pong balls for you to practice. It was pretty fun and cool to use the machine to train your brain to know the motion second nature. read more

I just found a fun indoors activity for any season in NYC! The space is great, clean, and fun! They even have a private room to play with your friends and have a small little party. They also have small screen by each table that helps you record your plays and mail them to your email. The staff is very friendly and the coaches are super fun. They also have a robot playing table in case you want practice your abilities or just have some solo fun. They have snacks and drinks for purchase in case you get hungry. I love this place and will be telling everyone about it. read more

What a fun idea!! I'm so glad there was a Yelp Elite event here so I could learn about PingPod. The venue is spacious with a good number of tables. It's a very high-tech facility with cool features so you can see your performance in real time and improve your ping pong skills. The staff is super friendly and the coaches are helpful. It's a relatively small space, but there is plenty of space for a party of four to play ping pong at one table together without feeling crowded or bumping into other people. There are open tables as well as a private room, both of which can be booked on the website. To enter, you need to have your reservation open on your account to unlock the door. The bathrooms and space are clean and the employees are very nice. I probably wouldn't go here unless my friends specifically asked to play ping pong, since the space is very brightly lit and no alcoholic drinks are allowed. It feels like a very clean atmosphere for people actually wanting to learn and play ping pong, not just hang around at a party and play drunk with friends. :) read more

I have been going to PingPod for a year now and it has been amazing!They have all bases covered. It's a place for people of all levels. They even have coaching options available if you're looking to improve. Not to mention a league and tournaments for people of various skill levels. They provide balls and paddles (good quality paddles,not the $10 Amazon ones) if needed. Don't have anyone to play with? You can just join the community on Slack and connect with hundreds of possible people to play with. Don't wanna leave your dog at home ? They're also pet friendly ! Most importantly, masks are provided and proof of vaccination is also required as per NYC guidelines. It's a fun place to be at any time of the day or night( open 24 hours). All in all, the best place in NYC to play Table Tennis. read more

Such a great spot. I've been a couple of times (between their two locations) and I definitely plan on going back. I'm not too great at ping pong but every time I go there I really feel like I'm a pro LOL. Personally, I go there with my gym buddy after we hit them gym but really you can go with anyone, or even go by yourself and play with a robot. read more

The location is prime, if you plan to take a car, remember this is NYC & traffic is bad. You can probably walk faster than a cab or car service. Especially during the month of December. NYC gets more visitors in December than all year long. The venue has 2 bathrooms for women which is not good, however worked for this crowd. After a quick bag search, I went upstairs to the women's locker room which was cleaner than expected. Staff were nice in reminding us to lock up our stuff. As a former competitive swimmer, it was extremely difficult to do flip turns, not only because they closed half of the pool horizontally due to lifeguard staffing issues, but also because there were multiple people moving in different directions. It was busy when it first opened in the morning but then calm downed a bit and folks were able to do more lap swimming. Water was pretty clean and temperature was good; chlorine levels weren't too bad. Sounds like they close for the fall/winter so I'm hoping to come back before it gets cold.

I came here on Thursday midday with a handful of colleagues for a work lunch/bonding experience. This particular Five Iron location is a short walk from the office (probably five minutes or so) right off Herald Square; the signage is a little inconspicuous from the outside, but we didn't have any difficulties locating it and accessing the premises on the 5th floor (we looked on the map carefully before leaving the office, and I'd recommend the same for anyone else unsure). The actual setup is pretty cool; it's a very spacious facility, which makes sense, with at least two different bar areas, a very nice bathroom and then at least 12 golf simulators with accompanying couches, etc. Definitely could have been more that I didn't see. The primary issue is that the heat was very clearly not working, or at least it wasn't in our section (11). One employee made a remark about the temperature, but we never received an apology nor offer to go to a warmer area. Given that we've been in the midst of an atrocious sub-freezing stretch, it was legitimately uncomfortable/unpleasant, to the point where I ultimately put my winter jacket and accessories back on because I was having trouble feeling my extremities. A huge miss in my book on multiple levels. The actual simulator was pretty cool. I had ZERO formal golf experience coming in, though I've acquitted myself well over the years at various mini-golf outings, but this is a different, more sophisticated beast entirely. One of my co-worker chums is a legitimate golfer who played varsity in high school and has golfed at the Old Course at St. Andrews (which I can tell, even as someone who's a golf bumpkin, is clearly a flex), so he looked right at home in front of the simulator. The closest type of experience I have is high school softball/Little League, so my swing SORT OF mimicked the correct way to go about things, but not really. All that to say, I was pretty bad but it was still fun. I'm not entirely convinced it truly gave accurate representations of what would have happened if we'd been at St. Andrews (I picked that course for the one hole we ended up doing), but no matter. The food I had was mediocre at best. There's some metaphorical window dressing on this menu (a few Indian and Mediterranean food references, e.g.), but ultimately it's just normal bar food, which is fine in theory. I ordered the Hot Honey Whipped Ricotta app. It didn't show up with the rest of the initially-ordered items, nor did it come with the second wave. We had to remind the staffer literally three or four times before it showed up, but it legit took an hour if not longer, and we were getting ready to leave when it made its appearance. The only upside to that? It didn't have enough time to get cold, which happened to the rest of the food very quickly due to the temperature in there. A lot of people got fries on the side, but those were icy within 10 or 15 minutes, unfortunately. They were honestly the best items I tried - cooked thoroughly which is my preference, though they needed ketchup for flavoring purposes. We also got a plain pizza to share, which was pretty bad - it was basically just a frozen, tasteless, rubbery pizza that wasn't even as good as a Celeste Pizza from the freezer section of the supermarket. I'd for sure avoid that section of the menu if you can. The bathroom was pleasant (and warm!). Everyone who visited came back raving about it, which is...unusual in my experience. A lot of amenities in there, like floss and sanitary napkins. It gives it almost a country club vibe, coupled with the bougie lockers in there. I don't see myself coming back, and certainly not when it's this cold. Frankly, I'm more concerned about the lack of accountability/acknowledgment from the staff than even the heating issue itself. Regardless, when your biggest selling point is the bathroom, that's a problem.

Upon arriving there were 9 groups ahead of us (YIKES) and you cannot use the Groupon after 6pm. However, the front desk and general manager Kendis, were very accommodating, informative and patient with the amount of times we checked in. Haha The moment something became available, him and his team made sure we didn't miss the 6pm cutoff. My waitress was also great, polite and made sure we were well taken care of . The Al pastor was definitely our least favorite--there was a weird, almost spoiled flavor to them that we couldn't figure out, and I couldn't even finish it. The rest were just kind of forgettable. I also tried the cotton candy lemonade, which tasted good, though it mostly just flavor-profiled as regular lemonade with only a tiny hint of cotton candy. The food was definitely a mixed bag, but I'd still go back for the fun atmosphere, bowling, and great service.

They also have tons of tools to use at your disposal (stencils, different types of brushes, hairdryers, etc). Reservations are up to 2 hours, which I found to be on the shorter side (esp for a perfectionist like me!). My friends and I actually did not finish our pottery pieces during our first visit, but they were very accommodating and we were able to come back to finish our pieces a few weeks after. Pieces are ready for pick up 1 week after you finish painting, which is a very quick turn around.

We would play so much back at home, it became economical to buy my own shoes and bowling ball (and also clearly great props for picking up the ladies...) It is not normally something worth doing in NY, due to high prices and low availability, but when I first heard of Better Off Bowling (BOB), I got really excited. In total, there are 40+ teams sized between 6-10 people. The league is pegged as recreational, though don't be amazed if you see players scoring 180+. Each week (total of 6) you are paired against another team, using your team's top 4 scores to battle it out. At the end of the season, each team is put against a team of similar record in the playoffs, but there isn't really like a single-elimination tournament at the end to crown an overall champion. The current season is finishing up, but there will be a new season starting at the end of Feb with a Sunday league and possibly a Wednesday league as well. (I'll update this post once more information comes out) Regardless, it is another opportunity to do something unique in a city full of new and random activities, spending time with friends and drinking (half price) beer. There is also a great post-game bar with loads of flip cup and beer pong a happening. So far, the people I have met during competition and afterwards have been awesome and ready to party (especially "Table Man", if any of you are lucky enough to meet him). Don't let lack of bowling skill stop you from having some fun a normally boring Sunday afternoon. I highly recommend getting a group of friends together and joining up. After all, dodge ball was only cool when the movie came out, so you should pick a different sport anyways.
