Once we had a signed contract in place, work began within a couple of weeks and the yard was done within 3 days. We are a month in and still love our yard! We've had a few minor issues along the way (drip irrigation blockage, one of the plants died, one really small patch of dead grass), but Roberto was really responsive and quick to address each issue. I have a large project I'm trying to get landscaping work for. I Spoke with Robert earlier this week. He told me he works Sundays and we scheduled an appointment for 10:30 today. He said he had a project in the Desert but would meet me at 10:30 at my house in Tustin for a quote. He never showed up, no call or anything. When Roberto and his team came to our rescue we had been apologizing to neighbors for our yard since we bought it a few months before. Now it's no exaggeration to say we are stopped several times a week while people sing its praises! It's amazing. He planned two different types of landscapes for us - full grass in the back and beautiful, drought resistant landscaping out front. So I get a quote from Roberto to level the dirt in the back yard and lay down some decomposed granite (DG) at my rental home in Long Beach. After the DG is down and compacted I see that there isn't enough DG and the level is too low, which will allow water to pool there instead of running off to the driveway like I wanted (I made it clear that I wanted the DG built up enough for any water to run off). So after some back and forth, I agree to pay for two more yards of DG to raise up the level, which takes another two days to deliver and lay down (with his Bobcat tractor in my driveway for my tenants to deal with) except it's still too low! How can a materials estimate be so far off? If I had an accurate estimate of materials and price up front, I probably would have considered another company. Instead, I was stuck with what I had. I wish that was all, but there's more. That Bobcat tractor stayed at my rental in the driveway for a couple of more days. I was to meet Roberto to pay but he texted that he was running late so we agreed that I would leave the check in the tractor and he would email me the invoice. So far, no invoice. The check cleared the next day. It's been over 3 weeks and I need that invoice for my taxes. Also, I don't know what's going on with the company name change to Pinewood but I found Roberto under Deleon Landscaping. That's what was on his business card. I made the check out to Pinewood. Robert was our final bid and we hired him within a week. He has gone above and beyond to earn a 5 star rating. My brother in law already hired him and he is going out to bid a project at my sister's house. He's just that professional, talented, and all around great! Robert managed a complete redo of our front yard (3,000 square feet) including demo, haul away, irrigation, creation of berms for ground cover, installation of plants, bender board, dry river, and decomposed granite. He also took the time to go out plant shopping with me at local wholesale nurseries. He only uses top quality materials- irrigation supplies, for example, are purchased from Ewing, not Home Depot. He's a techie, too- takes cool drone photo shots of your project and posts a time lapse video of the project on youtube. To top it off, his bid was competitive and he's the type of guy that works within your budget. Everything is transparent, and he's easy to talk to. Having been a property owner for almost 20 years, I have my share of experience with home improvement. It's all in the details with Robert! Day 1, he showed up with a Skid Steer (my kids were in awe)- he was able to haul away 20k lbs of soil from my property in 1 day. He also had a port-a-potty delivered, so professional as his crew of up to 5 workers per day had a place to use the restroom. Robert's crew is top notch. Each worker is specialized and has perfected their role. From irrigation to plant installation- these guys are experts. Our project has been completed for 2 weeks now and Robert has checked in weekly. Because of the rain, there were some footprints in the DG and he came out with his crew to regrade it. Also, I asked him to install more gravel in the river bed and he was out the next day. This kind of service is exceptional. Robert is the real deal. It's so refreshing to work with someone who is motivated, shows up early, leaves late, and works until the customer is satisfied. I moved in to a home with a small empty backyard. With a blank slate to start off, it was quite challenging to come up with ideas. I had some very basic things in mind but Robert really made it come to life. I decided on pavers for the most part with a small section of some silver sheens sitting on some decomposed granite which is very low maintenance which was my plan all along. When I mentioned to Robert my budget, he said no problem and will work around it. He and his guys got to work on schedule and got it done in a few days.
