My mom was placing in my care her prized grandfather clock, which she had given my dad almost 30 years ago as an anniversary gift. We needed to move the clock to my house 20+ miles away, and we needed to do it quickly. You don't just pick up a grandfather clock and move it... not if you want it to run right again. Pinet Clock Repair had always serviced this clock for my folks over the years, and we wanted to keep it in good condition for many more. I called Alan and explained the situation. He was very accommodating in setting up a time to meet. Alan fully explained the services he had performed over the years, and we noted that my folks hadn't had it serviced for some time. It was time for a regular minor "tune-up". Alan removed the clock's works to take back to his shop for the regular service, plus some minor repairs needed due to age. He helped me carefully prepare the cabinet for transport. A couple of weeks later, Alan called as promised, reporting that the services were complete and he had been running the works in his shop to make sure everything was right. He then came to the house to put it all back together, fully explained the repairs, and instructed us on how to run and care for this beautiful piece. He even gave us some really interesting history on these clocks. (Alan really knows his stuff...) I inherited a grandfather clock that was not working and I know nothing about this type of clock. I checked the internet and found Pinet Clock Repair. I emailed him figuring I wouldn't hear back just because email is not very reliable at times, but he promptly emailed me back. I asked if he would service a clock 45 minutes away from his location and he said he certainly would and asked I call to discuss the details. I phoned and after asking me some basic questions he told me the best case and worst case scenarios and asked if I wanted to proceed. I did proceed and he came to my home, removed the internals from the clock and said he'd need it for a couple of weeks to clean, oil, and check it out. He wanted to have the clock running at his home long enough to make sure it worked properly. Two weeks later he brought it back and reassembled it. It is working perfectly and it only cost the best case scenario, it didn't need anything other than a cleaning and oil. He told me he'd see me in 5 years. He was very professional, polite, and courteous throughout the entire process. I happen to like clocks and Alan was more then willing to explain how they work, the history of the chimes it plays, and also how to take care of the clock going forward. We have a grandfather clock that hadn't been looked at for twenty five years. It survived two long distance moves but after a third shorter one it stopped working. Alan came out to look at the clock and gave us two options for repair, we chose the more expensive longer-term fix. While he was looking at it he also noticed the key was broken and the pendulum taped together (we got it that way!). When it came back he got everything working and the clock is in better shape than ever. The pendulum has been fixed and a new working key found for it. We also learned that yes, the weights DO have a specific place they want to be, how to adjust the pendulum if needed, and that we have an option to stop the chimes if needed. His prices were very reasonable considering he spent hours at our house and the clock was in perfect working order before he left. Another family member had an old wall clock from Japan that was not working right, Alan picked it up at the same time as our clock and called to let us know what the repair would cost for it. The owner very much wanted it fixed and went ahead. They are delighted now that this clock is running better than it ever had from new! I just inherited a 45-year old German grandfather clock from my mother. It's a beautiful clock, but unfortunately, she had dropped one of the weights several years ago when rewinding the clock so it no longer ran. I called Alan Pinet to see if he could repair the clock. He came to my home, took the clock apart and brought it back to his workshop. A couple weeks later, he called back and brought all the pieces back. The weight was repaired and looked like new, the chains had been cleaned and polished. He installed everything back into the clock cabinet and I am now once again listening to the beautiful chimes of this old German grandfather clock and it keeps perfect time. One of the things I liked most, is that Mr. Pinet is very knowledgeable. He explained what was wrong with the clock and showed me the repairs he would need to do even before he left my home. If you choose to have Mr. Pinet repair your clock, good luck. No matter what his past good record has been, he certainly did not live up to it in my case. On August 20th, he took the "workings" of my Howard Miller Grandfather clock to his shop. At first the price was 275.00, and when I made the actual appointment, it was 300.00. At my home, I told him I was "capping" the cost at 300.00 and no more. On August 30th the clock was supposedly ready so I gave him my check. In a matter of a few days, the clock did not work right. When I called him he said that he was going on a ten day vacation and would tend to it upon his return. When I didn't hear from him I called to set up an appointment. While I was talking, he cut me off and HUNG UP on me. After coming to my house on the 20th and 25th he called me later and said that he would return my payment because he could not fix the clock. After all this time, I'm left with a clock that is all messed up i.e., for the clock to be SILENT, the arrow has to be on STRIKE, and vice versa. read more

Pinet Clock Repair has worked on two of our clocks. Our Howard Miller Grandfather clock had never been serviced so Alan came to our home, removed the clock from the case and oiled it back at his shop. Because we did not maintain the clock for such a long period of time it worked for a bit and then stopped working because of friction with the chimes. Alan came back and took it back to his shop and it is working wonderfully now. He also repaired a Howard Miller Wall Clock.
