The entire property was renovated with high-end materials, furnishings and decor. We got The Beach front cottages next to each others, some good friends of ours traveled with my husband and myself. It was perfect. Very low-key. They recommended Midway café, and oh my gosh, such a great find! Maybe a 3 to five minute walk from the cottages! They also gave us recommendations and I don't remember the name. We walked across the street for dinner the first night the second night we Uber to another place down the road. Pines and Palms retirement community! We've stayed here for a few years and always had a great experience... last year (2024) we were told that the resort would undergo a renovation and would be featured on HGTV's Restoration Island. We were excited about the new changes and rebooked for 2025. Fast forward to 2025, we arrived and were pleasantly surprised by the new look! the property looks great! Now to the bad.... the pool/bar. The property doesn't have a liquor license. therefore, if you like anything other than beer, you're out of luck. If you do happen to have a preloaded yeti with your favorite mixed drink, watch out! The pool boy will promptly call you out and ask you to stow it. Additionally, at 8pm the pool closes !!!!! No evening dips. I was told that was due to no attendant present. However, the beach is still open and "swim at your own risk" as if that's safer at night.... seems as if the unavailability to charge you $10 for a drink has out weighed your ability to use the pool. Additionally, pines and palms charter is no longer here, I was told the boat was sold, I was given a number to a captain that provides services to the resort, snorkeling/fishing and such. That person doesn't answer... You're better off going elsewhere. In the end, I'm sitting here writing a review while at the resort at 9pm, disappointed. Great new renovation to this hidden gem in islamorada. My boyfriend and I have been coming here for years and we were a little worried when we heard about the renovation because we loved the old charm . However, we were floored by the beautiful new rooms. Every detail has been thought of . It's the little stuff for me like the nice wine glasses , great smelling soap , lotion and a powerful iron steamer, but most of all the bathroom renovation! Great relaxing experience. Have stayed a couple of times in the last month or two and really enjoy the renovation of the property.

Everything about this little resort was nice. It is exceptionally clean and well maintained. The front offices staff is very welcoming and pleasant. We love this meandering paths & tropical foliage. The pool area was nice and relaxing. It is a salt water pool. My only complaint is that the toilet in our bungalow #14 was positioned in a tiny - itty bitty alcove within the bathroom. So strange! If you need some elbow room while on the toilet, ask for a bungalow with a normal size bathroom area. read more

When we visit Islamorada we typically stay at one of the Postcard Resorts which we love but due to construction we were unable to book for over a month and just ended up booking a beach cabin here as it seemed similar to La Siesta. We ended up having the most fantastic time and it has been our favorite place we stayed at yet! We travel during the off season primarily because my husband is a CPA and we have to do it prior to tax season and also don't want to miss the holidays at home. We practically had the beach and pool to ourselves and it was so peaceful! Our cabin was a quick walk to the beach and the heated pool which was absolutely perfect for our toddler. They have kayaks, paddle boards, and gorgeous beach area to use. We also had a full size kitchen with refrigerator, oven, and a microwave. The staff even washes your dishes for you daily which I found to be one of the greatest luxuries of all! Such a beautiful and relaxing place to stay. Thanks for an amazing vacation. So much potential and very much pretty grounds. For future bookers please be advised to request to know where the ac unit is in your room. Unit 12 had an ac unit directly above the bed. If you are noise sensitive this is not ideal. We even tried to move the bed but the unit does not have the space. The bathroom toilet is wedged between two walls you will touch tile. I love this place. Your own little cottage by the shore. Friendly, helpful staff, the rooms are super clean and well appointed and the drinks are exactly what you want on a Keys holiday. If all you want to do is chill, this is the place. If you want a romantic getaway where you can grill fresh-caught fish with your sweetie, this is the place. If you want to be pampered and take a sunset cruise, this is the place. Our flight was repeatedly delayed so our 6pm arrival was well past midnight. The staff made sure I had access to the lock box so I could retrieve the keys and get a good night's rest. They will take care of you. Oh, and you can just park anywhere on the property. (We fretted over where to park when we first arrived; the front desk assured us it was ok) Just don't block the lanes. Vey laid back and relaxed. Nothing fancy or stuffy. Just you and the ocean. After my last stay here, this resort really won my heart. I took my daughter here on our trip through The Keys for her 8th birthday. We booked one night in one of the adorable cottages, and ended up staying two! As far as my daughter is concerned, this place won her over in 2.2 seconds! She loved the woman who helped us during our stay, which means a lot in my book, and she adored our cottage. The pool was her second home while we were there. I loved the fact that we had a fully stocked kitchen! It is very helpful when you are traveling with a little one. The bed was pretty comfortable, though I have to say I wasn't a fan of the sheets. Very "scratchy" on our skin. Other than that though, we loved every inch of our cottage. We will definitely be staying again in the near future. read more

We had a horrible experience at Pine and Palms in Islamarda with COCKROACHES in the kitchen, our two bedroom suite had mushy smelly mattresses, swimming pool was freezing, air conditioner was spewing mold- we were ALL COUGHING . We were promised a voucher for another two night stay, but, after more than a year of trying to get them to mail our promised "two night voucher" it never came. After Dozens of phone calls, for over 500 days - management has screwed us out of $885 which was promised to me. I stayed there August 13 through the 16th 2024. I have been coughing for the past week that room was full of mold. We were not told about the mold do not stay there. I do not recommend it. I called and talked to Caleb at the front desk. I told him they should not be renting those rooms out and have been sick ever since I stayed there and he said thank you very much. Awesome!!! I live in Miami, and I'm always going to the Keys. But this resort it's probably the best I've been ever. The staff of the front desk and a woman who calls Ana, are so nice and hospitality. The pool food, it's really good!! I've order a capresse salad, and has the same taste like in Europe, where I was born. Tomorrow we will rent bikes, and maybe paddleboard in the front desk. Was excited to stay here in a cute cottage right by the water. It was in fact very picturesque, well landscaped, and ideal for somebody who wants a postcard islandy feel instead of a big mega resort. Unfortunately, the entire experience was soured when the owner (at least I assume is the owner) bragged about animal cruelty upon arrival. I saw an iguana down the road and innocently asked if there is a lot of iguanas here on the grounds. He told me "There used to be until I shot at least a hundred of them". What kind of thing is this to say to a tourist? It does not take a genius to understand I was asking this question because I like iguanas. The owner had no way to know I actually have a pet iguana and REALLY love them. But at the very least, he could have assumed I might be a tourist who enjoyed their exotic appeal. While I realize that many in South Florida consider iguanas to be an invasive species and dislike them, this is not how the average tourist feels. On top of this, it's pretty creepy and unsafe knowing the owner is going around shooting guns on hotel grounds that guests might be around (even if you discount he's killing innocent creatures for no legitimate reason). So although I could have enjoyed the place if the owner had been smart enough to shut his yap and simply say "no, not too many iguanas around here" instead he genuinely upset me and my wife and ruined the entire experience. I was really unable to enjoy my time there at all and didn't bother hanging out there except to sleep. And it was quite a lot of money I feel like I wasted on what could have been a beautiful resort. I will grant that it was well priced in comparison to the high prices in the area, but still a lot of money nonetheless. I couldn't enjoy being there. And honestly, if it was riddled with iguanas it would have been really fun to hang out there and see them in a tropical environment. Instead it was just a place to lay my head and feel sad that a bunch of them were murdered by a cruel guy. What a waste! read more

We just finished a week long vacation at Pines & Palms. It far exceeded our expectations and was exactly what we were looking for - a quiet week, oceanside. The grounds are beautifully landscaped and provide privacy between units. Even on the days the resort was at full capacity, it was quiet and we never felt like there were too many people around. The units are updated and fully stocked with dishes, silverware, etc (including the all important corkscrew!). The owners and staff were always present and provided amazing service. We've stayed at two other resorts in the Keys, this is our favorite and will be our "go to" in the future. Thanks for a great vacation!!! DO NOT MAKE A RESERVATION AT THIS RESORT BECAUSE THEY WILL CANCEL IT. We made a reservation for the weekend to celebrate my birthday. The Resort does NOT accommodate guest requests for early/late check-ins. And when you express your complaint to the Resort regarding this issue, they send you an email canceling your reservation, and accusing you of canceling the reservation (which we DID NOT). The email said we should receive a full refund without any fees. Still waiting to receive the refund. These people should not be in business ! Unprofessional conduct at its finest! read more

Great resort that is quaint and cozy! Views from the dock are amazing at sunrise and sunset, and beautiful views of ocean during the day. I enjoyed the landscaping as it's very tropical. I was in South Florida and had some free time and looked to head the Keys for a weekend to in some scuba bottom time. I used an online portal to book trip with Pines and Palms. However, I mistakenly entered the the wrong weekend ( i entered the next weekend). Soon after I booked it, I tried to change it. I wanted to stay at there hotel But they said that the upcoming weekend was booked. However, they would not let me cancel and charged me for the stay, even though we told them, that I would not be able to use. I still had to book another hotel. I work in the scuba industry and I understand the economics and tight margins of this industry, but during this season, the room is not going to go empty, the owner is just double dipping. It does not take much effort to generate either good will or leave a bad taste in your mouth. read more

Five star if I've ever seen one. I can't help to read through others' obnoxious justifications for rating this property anything less, but I'd venture to say it stems from their own lack of organization and adherence to the rules. We are wrapping up our honeymoon week here, and I must say, being here has been one of the highlights. We were offered a complimentary upgrade, which is a pretty darn good start to things. Beyond that, the access to a tropical wonderland is what is delivered, and it far exceeded what I was even expecting. Every inch of this place is pristine, from the buildings , to the pool, to the raked sand, and the interior of the rooms are actually better than what is represented by some of the photos on Yelp. For the price, this was an absolute home-run, and being that we now live mere hours from here, I guarantee you we'll be back. Our young family loved staying at the Pines and Palms. Our cottage was clean and had that perfect Keys feel. Our kids loved riding bikes and paddle boarding in front of the resort. We saw sea turtles, rays, tarpon, and barracuda on the sea grass beds. The pool and pool bar area is located right on the water and was very relaxing. The staff was very accommodating. Anderson at the pool bar, Julissa at the front desk, and Kenny in maintenance were all amazing. We highly recommend !! read more

Went here for a week on my honeymoon. The room was so spectacular. Everyone waves and is friendly when u arrive. They have a bar by the pool and have great happy hour deals. You are right on the Atlantic Ocean. The maids do a very thorough cleaning of your room every day. You can sit out on atlantic and sunbathe. The pool is heated so in February when we went is was pleasant to get into. There is a cafe in walking distance called the midway cafe. Best cafe and best service ever. The owner will greet u and serve you like you are an old friend:). Islamadora is a small quaint town but it's right in the middle of the keys. We drove to key west twice and had our fixed the shops and people. But at the pines and palms, it's so quiet and relaxing. It's not at all like key west lodging. P.s. I know it's shocking when you start to drive to key west as florida drivers are absolutely nuts. No blinker, speeding and weaving in and out of traffic. I am rating this less only because our first room was not good. They have been updating the place and apparently have not gotten around to all of them. (see my note below). Otherwise, the property deserves a 4-4.5 Cute pool and beach (but not a swimming beach like most of the Keys.) The little bungalows facing the ocean are what you want. Not a resort, this is a quieter place to just hang. Pool has a bar with happy hour 4-6. Staff is great. Beware! DO NOT reserve Room 14- the two bedroom cottage. It has a terrible mold smell and needs serious renovation. Plus, the bathroom is tiny- like only suitable for little people tiny. We asked to be moved and were accommodated. Management knows about the problem but rents the room anyway. Otherwise, this place is great. I will definitely go back, but will not stay in an old room. read more

Vacation almost ruined before it started. So disappointed. Long time guests specifically at Orchid Cottage. Received a phone call the day before our departure advising there was a problem with our accommodations which were booked a year ago. Office person said there was a maintenance issue with second floor bathroom and they would put us up in another resort 10 miles away in Key Largo. HUH??!! This cottage is only one floor. We complained in a e-mail to the manager, stating this was totally unacceptable. Fast forward- we get a email back hours later. All is well! The " repairs" which could not be done for 2 weeks were miraculously done within hours. Upon arrival, we saw no obvious repairs or problems. Found out a few days later the Orchid Cottage had just been listed with a realtor and is currently on the market for sale. Do not book! The Orchid Cottage may be sold before you arrive. read more

It was my friend's bday and she had no pitty we even offered to pay the day and she wanted to charge us for a room with capacity for 4 people so that the 4 of us could stay. It's near plenty of amenities, so it's very convenient, yet not too touristy. Excellent property. We booked last min (24hrs prior) and were not disappointed. We ended up getting caught in some rain driving in and the later arrival was no problem at all. Room was much larger than expected. Living room area separate from bedroom and a balcony to wake up with the sunrise. The workers were up early raking the sand and getting the lounge chairs ready for the day. We will definitely return and share this property with friends. read more

We stayed over night with our small children. The two bedroom cottage had an unkept bathroom. We requested to checkout at 12- they agreed until 11:45. Then we went to the pool (we were told we could use the resort facilities at check in) . There was no one else at the pool. We were told by a male attendant to leave the pool area immediately their policy states no one can stay at pool after checkout. I asked to please let us stay till 1 since my children were there and we had been !told we could. As I was packing the female in the picture below came up do me and said to leave now because I had 9 people in my group. I had to correct the lady and show her we were. NOT with other families she pointed at. She was very unprofessional and basically said leave now. She made us feel very uncomfortable and followed our 10 and 7 year old kids to the car . She stared at us as we packed the car and made my children cry. Not sure if she didn't like us as Hispanics staying in her property, but we felt very uncomfortable. We are a family who spent over $500 in one night and were treated like trespassers and escorted off the property . If you have a family and wish to stay in a pleasant place and with amenities DO not stay here. read more

our second stay and the Pines & Palms and it was just as wonderful the second time around. Checked in for a couple of day to celebrate our anniversary. We had a one bedroom cottage. It was awesome! Nice size, full kitchen, grills available if you'd like! Small pool bar that has happy hours from 4-6. Chris was awesome! You can also arrange a fishing trip with him. Adorable little resort with a super "Keysey" feel throughout. We rented a two bedroom cottage #14 and it was super cute. The Only two Downsides were the loudness of the window AC units and the pool area was rather cold and uninviting... I'd say the resort is kid friendly but the pool is so small if you have kids you can't let them play and splash around because you feel bad for other guests...I wish places like this would have two pools one for kids and one for without. read more

Pines & Palms also known as Pitty Palms in which we have named ourselves. This resort does not deserve 3 stars whatsoever. Let's start off with the pool. It's filthy. Looks like it hasn't been cleaned in a week and is a greenish blue with debris and once you go anywhere beyond that it smells like dead fish and the water is so dirty there are gnats flying everywhere. The only good part about the pool was the very helpful and friendly bartender who doesn't get enough credit here. The room we are staying in is the one bedroom "suite." Online it talks about how it can accommodate four people but it's only good for 2. There is a small kitchen with a stove but they do not give you any pots or pans so don't go on a big grocery shopping thinking you can cook without buying a whole new set of cooking utensils!! We had to call someone in to fix both of our TVs. The pull out couch has a huge bar running down the center so if you don't have an already bad back you can happily receive one here. The bar closes at like 6pm and there is no music and turns into a ghost town by 7pm. Not only is this "resort" not a resort at all but the staff made it even worse. There is a lady at the front desk who has a serious attitude. If your guests aren't happy with their stay then they should be offered something to make up for it. The whole place is empty and they wouldn't even upgrade us to a bigger room. Disappointing in most aspects. Would not recommend. read more

When we pulled up to the front office our friends were staying down the road and they wanted to greet us because we have not seen them in a year. Immediately the front desk tells us "no day guests allowed"...I mean, come on, you're in the hospitality business! This was an older lady, however, the young lady at the front desk was nice. We got room 22 (right on the road) and it was okay. However, there was these tiny little fleas or something crawling all over the bathroom and kitchen. The room was sub-par... The pool was just meh and pretty small. The bar had beer and you can only order margarita's and other frozen drinks. I don't think they are allowed to serve other stronger liquor. The positive was this place is nice and quiet. You can get a small grill and there was a full kitchen (not stocked) with plates, utensils and a few pots. When I pulled out 2 of the pots it was full of grease and not washed at all. Beware: they give you 2 towels and will charge $30.00 if you lose them. They will also charge you $30.00 per key lost. Over all I will not stay here again. Do I recommend this place? I think it's one of those places you have to try for yourself. You may get a good room and you may have a better initial experience. Have stayed here many times, great location, Boat dockage, property is always kept very clean, beach area is very nice, pool is heated and always clean, small pool bar is good (wine based no alcohol but fun none the less) guy that works the bar (forgot his name) also does charters and has lots of useful information he is willing to share, he is very friendly and courteous, rooms are old Florida (this is not the ritz or the Hilton but I come to the keys for old Florida) they are very clean, comfortable and have small kitchens. You can grill in front of your room, docks have seating (I suggest wine on the dock at night). The only complaint I have and reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the sea weed are piling up in extraordinary amounts and dying, the smell was awful! It made it hard to use the beach area at all. This is not the fault of the hotel, there's not much they can do and Anna has tried. But if you are going I would check to see if the weed condition exists and if so I recommend something gulf side. The only other reason is, the girls at the counter up front I felt were somewhat unfriendly, which over the years the staff has been very friendly, I wouldn't go as far to say as they were rude but I thought they definitely fell short of being polite and courteous. There is definitely room for improvement in that area. I recommend pines and palms for any occasion especially if you're looking for keys/old Florida charm with a beautiful ocean front relaxed setting. read more
