Just recently they took care of my puppy who had a bowel obstruction and needed surgery to get out the object. They explained everything in great detail and kept in constant contact with me on the progress. My puppy is home and doing well. When I was in to pick up my puppy up someone rushed in with an emergency. They handled everything swiftly, professionally and with care. I would highly recommend this place. They saved my dogs life.

Only on weekends, just for established patients were a couple of the excuses they offered. Upon arrival my companion and I were treated with dignity, respect and above all compassion. Dr. Auto thoroughly explained the results of lab work and xrays. We were able to compare an xray of healthy cat's chest cavity with the one she pulled up on the screen which showed my 2 years old cat's chest cavity. She then explained the options without forcing us to choose one way or the other. When I chose the option to euthanaize my precious Calvin, they proceeded with such professionalism and compassion. I was able to hold Calvin while the doctor walked me through each step of the procedure which was via a cathether. What a peaceful way to go! Now only that but they said to stay as long as I needed once it was over! Two phrases, "Come on down," and "Stay as long as you need to," sum up the reasons I'm giving the five stars. Thank you, thank you, thank you! For Calvin and for me. The expense was worth it, 100% in my view.

I asked to see the veterinarian after she only prescribed one medication and I was told I was not Able to because she was seeing other patients. They demanded payment from me as they were running a test on my dog, not having the results of the test already prescribing the medication and demanding that I pay for it. I got second opinion from another vet and they also said to find a specialist. I was told he would need CT scans, ultrasounds, and surgery. I was overwhelmed and desperately trying to set up the earliest appointments I could get for him. But within that time, it continued to grow. Within a week and a half it went from the size of a golf ball, to the size of a grapefruit. I felt like I wasn't getting the immediate help my dog needed. That's when we came to AEC and met with Dr. Melissa. She had the confidence and experience to perform a procedure on my dog that was absolutely necessary and as a result, she saved him from a great deal of pain, and me from a great deal of panic. (Not to mention thousands of dollars). Melissa introduced herself to my dog so he could became familiar with her. Then she explained to me what she would do, what she was looking for, and what would happen next. All before she took him to the back of the clinic. After the initial check she came back with more details, explanations, and information about the next steps she would take. One thing I greatly appreciated is that Melissa gave me an estimated time as to how long the procedure MIGHT take, but she emphasized that an extended wait time did NOT mean something had gone wrong. That helped settle my anxiety and keep me from watching the clock too closely. I admire emergency physicians and everyone in this field so much. They have to treat traumatic and urgent situations while also balancing their compassion for the animals they are helping. Melissa walks that line with kindness and integrity. She trusts her intuition and seemingly puts herself in the position of her patients. As a result, she provides them with not only the most comprehensive and quality care, she also provides them with a great deal of comfort. One month later, I'm sitting on the couch next to my HEALTHY dog writing a review for this amazing doctor, Melissa. We are so grateful for you! I want to wrap this review up by acknowledging and praising the entire staff at the AEC. My interactions with the receptionists were particularly wonderful. One of them even helped me carry my still somewhat sedated, nearly 80 pound dog through the ice and snow in order to safely get him in my car! If you're having an emergency and need an exceptional doctor, a clean and calming clinic, with the kindest and most compassionate staff, this is where you need to go.

Then, decided to take the longer drive later that day to Oakland Veterinary Referral Services. Called ahead and my cat got serviced within 15 minutes. Everything was thorough, friendly & professional; and the fee was reasonable. I highly recommend this establishment which did an terrific job in attending to my injured cat. My vet recommends Oakland Veterinary Referral Services in emergencies when his establishment is not open. I clearly can see why! It was well worth the drive -- now my cat is doing well. Luna came into the vet lethargic, not being able to walk properly and she also had some tooth pain. we told the vet how she was acting and they brought her back and checked her out. we agreed on doing blood work and that took about 4 hours (that's fine) and we got a call when she was almost done to come back so we did. the receptionist kept telling us the doctor knew we were there and a hour and a half later the doctor brought us back and said "sorry, nobody told me you were here" so not sure wtf was going on there. the doctor told us they gave her pain medicine and checked her vitals and that everything looked good and normal and her bloodwork was normal. they gave us gabapentin for her and sent us home and said she will be lethargic but overall she will be fine. so tell me why, monday, april 13th we take her to another vet who looked at Luna for 5 minutes, noticed Lunas back legs were cold and finally said "yup, it most likely is blood clots" and we had to make a decision. spend 10k on treatment just for her to never be the same again or put her down right then and there. all day sunday we could have spent the entire day with Luna and cuddling her. instead she was stuck in a hospital who truly didn't care about her. if you have any concern for your animal please go to the Southside Animal Hospital. they were amazing
