They quickly changed out his reel and gave him pointers on where to fish. Here's where the story gets better: That afternoon my grandson tried to cast and his line became a complete tangle. We went back to West Marine and were helped once again by Thai. He proceeded to very patiently untangle and restring the line. He tested it and once again gave my grandson instructions on how to prevent line tangles, how to fix, how to do test drops. I am truly thankful and impressed by how well we were treated at West Marine. Thank you Thai for your outstanding customer service.

I was trying to place an order for my employer online, and the order kept getting rejected for some unknown reason. When I tried calling the corporate customer service number, the message informed me there is no help available over the phone, and to use their chat feature instead. I tried the chat feature, and the agent told me to try the transaction again. I did, and again the order did not process successfully. I thought I'd try my luck with speaking with someone at the local store, so I called the Alameda location and was lucky enough to get Leparish on the phone. He diligently worked on troubleshooting with me, confirmed there was indeed some issue with the payment processing, and instead of waiting on corporate to hopefully resolve it, he went ahead and packed up the items I needed right there at the store himself, and scheduled a shipment to my employer. He made sure I had all the pertinent order information I needed in my inbox before I got off the phone. He was helpful, patient, and courteous. Customer service like this is a rarity these days. Huge kudos to Leparish, thank you so much for your help in resolving a frustrating situation. This is what great service looks like. West Marine, fix your ordering issues, and give this man a raise!

WHAT WENT RIGHT?!? Everything. Not just today, when I came in with grease all over my hands and…read moreholding back my tears. Alameda Bicycle on Park Street is a part of the community, and I feel so honored to spend my money here. Gene, George and Crew are unmatched in the Bay Area. They sell mid-price range bikes, so no $300 bikes or $14,000 bikes. I bought my first new bike here after graduating from Cal, and got my first Wall Street bonus, moons ago. It was my dream bike, a black Cannondale, top of the line. After that, got married and had children and Gene saw me through training wheels through teenage years, then sadly through a divorce. Back in a bike and climbing mountains - loving life! Anyway, today, after trying all night to get my chain back on my new e-bike (not possible on the road) I walked in and George was at the door. He sensed my frustration and said, "Come on in." It wasn't an easy fix. But they worked on it, two guys 25 minutes, and 5 tools. Meanwhile, I walked into the showroom to check out the bikes (tee hee hee). Then I noticed a new coffee and tea station with a couch and chairs, and Madeline cookies. It's just what I needed after a frustrating night and morning trying to fix it myself. Such a mindful and kind touch. People easily complain, so positive heartfelt reviews are gold. Alameda Bicycle is a solid community member and business. Honest. If I don't need something, George will say, "You don't need that." Last time, I picked up some gorgeous Ortlieb panniers (which they installed) and a fix-a-flat for on the road flats. I forgot it on the counter -- it was here waiting for me when I returned a few weeks later. They only had my old digits! BTW, I didn't eat the last Madeline cookie. I saved it for you! Come and get it -- and remember to support these incredible bike angels. Super, super Good Vibes. The absolute best Alameda bicycle shop -- to me.

One of the employees offered to let me borrow their floor pump. I was struggling to figure out how to use it, and the employee ended up helping me pump my bike tire. It's been years, but I still remember this kind gesture from one of their employees. It's hard to find parking around Park Street; it's convenient that they have four compact parking spots and one handicap accessible parking spot in their parking lot.

I actually went there to check it out. Hopefully, yelp will update that soon). They both had frozen anchovies, but the man at Phu Quy let me know their bag of anchovies was six dollars, which was two dollars cheaper than the other place. I also needed some tackle, so I headed over. The selection of tackle there was good, and the prices were very good. I shouldn't have been surprised since the anchovies were well-priced. As I went to the counter to get the anchovies, I asked the guy behind it if I should get one or two bags. When I let him know that I was going to cut up the anchovies into pieces and not use them whole, he actually said that one bag should work rather than trying to upsell me two. I thought that was pretty cool. I decided to get the second bag anyway. As they say, better to have too much than too little. I asked, and he said his name was Victor. He was really friendly and informative. Even though I was going for Delta catfish, I decided to ask him about largemouth bass for the future. He told me some spots and fishing techniques to use there. I'm glad I found another great local baith shop and a local guide (Victor) to supply and support my fishing needs.
