Robin and his team are great, and have been doing business with my family for over 20 years. We highly recommend them.

My last experience before finding H and M was horrific; a faulty wiring job left me broken down and stranded. H and M completely turned that around. They not only fixed all the mistakes from the previous shop, but also installed a kicker motor and completed a long list of upgrades I'd been wanting for a while. Everything was done cleanly, efficiently, and with a high level of craftsmanship. Shane is a total badass. He's clearly an expert, and it shows in the quality of work he and his team deliver. I run a quality-oriented construction company myself, so I know what it takes to do a job right and I can confidently say H and M Marine is the real deal. I live in Martinez, and I'll gladly make the drive every time I need work done, no question. I'm already making a list of projects for the off-season. If you're looking for top-tier workmanship at a fair price from people who genuinely care about what they do, look no further. These guys are awesome.

First interaction with H&M was to purchase a new Yamaha outboard to repowered our Grady White. More…read moreboat work was done in addition to just hanging a new engine. The price for work completed was fair. Covid hit hard and I believe we were the last boat done before they temporarily closed. Ethan was very professional and did the best he could communicating with us during difficult times. I'll focus on recent major work I had done to install new electronics on a newer Grady I purchased. I had planned to install myself, but the project was a it more complicated and involved than I wanted to tackle. I had already purchased a new Garmin chartplotter/fishfinder and radar, along with new antennae's, mounts, and lights. I approached Shane, Ethan's partner, about installing what I had in addition to new Yamaha gauges, all new Yamaha wiring and network cables/components to make Command Link compatible, remove and replace new hydraulic steering lines, R&R helm, install new throttle and shift cables, install Starboard to replace damaged wood (one piece I had Tap Plastic custom fabricate using old piece as template). After initial agreement Shane came back saying he needed to charge a "corkage fee" because I did not purchase the all Garmin products from him. I apologized and explained they have already been purchased from West Marine. I have seen their install work and was impressed, so I paid the additional $500 fee. I found out about the retail pricing when I also purchased from H&M a Standard horizon VHF and another Garmin MFD , priced $100 and $500 more than WM. I also supplied the the LED deck and spreader lights, VHF antennas with mounts, radar pedestal, GPS antenna, VHF loudhailer, and I had a custom stainless navigation light mount fabricated. An estimated 2 weeks turned into 2 months. I get they have a yard packed with boats, and luckily I have another boat I used during that time almost daily. Boat is done. Custom flush mounted electronics are beautiful! Super clean wiring with wires neatly concealed in the radar arch. New MFD shows all engine functions. Love it. Total bill was over $11k. Ouch. That's not including what I purchased prior. Now the not so good. Picked up boat and launched 2 days later. Load gear at O dark thirty, go to start, nothing. Batteries seemed ok. Tilt and lights all ok. No crank. Bypass neutral start but check engine light and won't run above idle. I call H&M and tell them the issue. I am told the motor needs to be hooked up to shop computer and diagnostics done. I find internet instances where a low battery, not faulty, will cause the issue I am having. I relay info to H&M owner who replies he has never heard of such a thing in all his years of servicing. I ask him to throw it in a charger and see before dumping money into computer and replacing a TPS he thinks is the cause. I also question the neutral start switch as something they may have done since they replaced throttle and shift cables. "Impossible, we only changed the cables". A week later I get the call. Yes, surprisingly topping the batteries off worked. Never saw that before. Oh yeah, we fixed the NSS. No charge. (Later I get bill for over $400 for checking if code reoccurred) Good Very nice custom install of electronics. Wiring through arch very clean. Location Bad Did not top batteries. Suggest to top off if boat sits or extensive electrical work done. Cabin had debris like wood shavings, old caulk, and wire insulation strippings. Shop reply per email was, "it was better than it was." Really? Old radio bracket left mounted in cabin. Factory livewell switch was removed and replaced with new spreader light switch. Now how do I turn on baitwell pump? So far after 2 emails issue still Unresolved! Typical upsell. Hydraulic leak at SeaStar helm. Not hose or fittings. Owner recommended replace entire helm. I mention I've experienced this and has been steering shaft seal. Simple fix. He strongly suggested updating new hoses and if replaced steering shaft seal no guarantee. O-ring replacement worked to his surprise, and I was charged to remove old hydraulic lines and install new ones. I physically installed radar dome on the arch using a short pedestal. Owner and installer both said it didn't look right on it, and if I towed a lot better clearance without. Advised mounting it flush to arch, and the installer would purchase it for his hardtop on his own boat. Paid $120 new, sold for $50, and was charged a removal and reinstall fee. There's more, but I'll stop here. No marine mechanic is perfect. I have taken my boats to all of the major dealers in the Bay Area for the last 4 decades, and have had issues with all of them. Not just minor complaints, but straight up pay for Job and not fixed! I'd give H&M 3.5 stars if I could. I do love their install work, and looking at my every time I'm on the boat looking at my dash and using my new electronics makes me happy. Happiness just comes at a cost

We absolutely recommend CN for a steady journey of proper education and experiences getting certified with awesome qualified instructors. Having had no sailing experience or even interest prior, my friend convinced me to sign up with her and begin this journey of courses, tests and certifications to open doors to a future I never imagined. I had no reason to say no so we signed on and the excitement began. It took us almost a year but we are now BBC Certified and ready to travel! She has plans to continue to Coastal Passage Making and even Offshore Passage Making, while I am content with destination pleasure sailing :) Everyone in both offices and all of our instructors have been amazing in all aspects of their program.... communication, instruction, preparation, encouragement, and most importantly... safety! And the boats! We have been spoiled with the nicest boats in the bay! If you're shopping around for sailing programs trying to find the right club... this one is definitely the right choice. Thanks CN!

After extensive research and 22 years of sailing/powerboating in SF Bay, I can confidently say that…read moreClub Nautique is the premium place to charter a sailboat or powerboat.  The US Sailing Classes is a great format too for newer sailors and powerboaters.  My family and I have spent 60 days on the water in the last 12 months with CN and it's definitely a professionally-run operation. The best thing you will find is the fleet condition ... nowhere else will you be able to charter 1-3 year-old boats that are maintained, clean, and shiny.  Think electronic instruments, autopilot, climate control, powered winches (on the larger boats), and bluetooth audio systems inside and out.  The presentation and feeling of a premium charter is unparalleled.  The staff are serious about their jobs; the owners of the business treat boats and members with prompt, service-oriented action. As far as pricing goes, I've also been a part of other clubs in the SF Bay and CN is on the higher end for a reason.  The CN boats are nice and you won't be sailing on 20-year old boats with inoperable systems that are accepted as normal.  There is always fleet availability via an online booking system.  The community is great and getting like-minded crew or joining social events has been easy for my family. Other reviewers have complained about having to pay for expensive repairs and this is a good chance for an active CN member to tell it to you straight.  The boats are owned by fellow club members and if someone broke something on your boat, wouldn't you want it fixed too?  For new boaters, please be aware that everything on a boat costs way more than you think it does because most parts do not benefit from large economies of scale like the auto industry.  Things require individualized labor to repair and as any boat owner will tell you, it's never simple because ... it's a boat.  Sailing and powerboating is fun, but with it comes an associated spend. Both Sausalito and Alameda bases are excellent. Enjoy and be safe on the water.

Unfortunately the boats weren't in 100% efficient working order and apparently our scheduled maintenance wasn't getting done as well as we had hoped. When our maintenance department started falling behind we decided to look to outside vendors to maintain the boats. Needless to say we couldn't find one to our liking locally. It was then passed onto our planning department to try and find someone who is a "Yamaha authorized dealer" since we use Yamaha motors. Our search brought us to Park Presidio Marine located on the other side of the Bay. Luckily for us, PPM was willing to come over to us and take a look at our boats and come up with a plan to service our boats at our facility. It's now been 8 weeks and 4 visits since we first made contact with PPM and I can't say enough good things our how this is working out. Ryan has been able to get 2 of our boats back up to working order. He listens to my concerns and addresses them quickly. From what I've heard, our planning department is now expecting to try and purchase a 250 HP replacement motor and have them mount it on our twin motored 32 footer. I'll be sure to write up another review about how that goes, but so far we are very satisfied with PPM. Keep doing what your doing Gary and Ryan!
