Pineappétit - Pineapple chicken bowl and lemonade
    Diane H.

Pineappétit is one of several counter service restaurants located in the food hall for the shops at Railroad Square in Tallahassee, Florida. This restaurant was recently featured amongst 6 featured on The Food Networks' Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2025. It's a rather small counter service restaurant, but I think it houses just what they require to produce a quality meal. My dining companion and I split the Chicken Pineapple Bowl - A pineapple sliced in half and hollowed out, filled with cilantro, lime rice as the base, teriyaki chicken, teriyaki sauce, and topped with their signature salsa. It was definitely enough for splitting with another person and we left completely satisfied. The flavors blend well together. Yum! We also split a lemonade which was tasty and refreshing! Pineappétit also offers pasta, wings and Caribbean patties. We plan on returning to try some of the other menu items. The restaurant offers a Sunday brunch menu, but the pineapple bowl is not on it. There is also a soul food Sunday menu, but again the pineapple bowl is not on it. We previously stopped by on a random Saturday for the pineapple bowl, but they were only offering the soul food Saturday menu. If your heart is set on trying the pineapple bowl as was featured on DDD, make sure to visit on a weekday! Since the counter service restaurant is located in a food hall, the dining tables and seating are shared with the other shops. We had no trouble finding parking or a table when we visited. We plan on returning to sample some other menu items!

What a great concept! When traveling for work, I love finding local gems. I saw this place when looking for something great to try. One of the hotel staff members also said this was a good choice. It's located in a food hall type setting with an outdoor courtyard. The chef was so friendly. I ordered the salmon bowl and the jerk chicken pies. Both were absolutely delicious. All of the ingredients were very fresh. I really enjoyed my entire meal, and I hope to eat here again of I'm ever in the area.

I was a fan. Only in town for a travel day, on a Sunday. I decided to go local. And this place hit the spot. I went with the Rasta Pasta with salmon and broccoli. Everything is cooked fresh. The pasta was cooked perfectly. Salmon was great. The broccoli was great. The bread was great. Did I say how great everything was? 2 people were working the restaurant. The young male employee was nice and did most of the cooking and he acknowledged me and took my order right away. A female employee seemed to be teaching him along the way. It's located inside a food hall type building. But, yeah, I would go back.

I decided to stop by this place while I was running some errands in the area. I remember when the owner was still selling plates one FAMU's campus. It was good to stop by now that he has a full service restaurant. I had a pineapple bowl and chicken wings on this visit. The pineapple bowl was amazing. I had a shrimp bowl for my first time and it was so good. The shrimp were plump and well seasoned. I also had the honey lemon pepper fried chicken wings. I was a little skeptical of this flavor at first but this was very good. I loved the fact that that the wings were fried hard but hey could've had a little more flavor.

Sweet and spicy wings with a side of sweet plantains

I was privileged to try the infamous pineapple bowl with chicken, rice, and a sweet and spicy sauce back when Pineappetit was just a food truck. Once I saw they had a freestanding restaurant, I decided to try their chicken wings and sweet plantains. The wings were wet and crispy like I like them. The sweet and spicy sauce was more sweet than spicy, and more red Thai curry flavored (which I love). The sweet plantains weren't moist like you would get at a Cuban restaurant, but were tasty and dusted lightly with cinnamon sugar it seemed. The atmosphere is modernized and they have a selfie wall for those who are interested. The service was fast, so I'll be able to come back during my lunch breaks.

The atmosphere inside is different, caught me off guard. The food and service were both AWESOME. The staff was very friendly and got us our food quickly. We got 20 dry rub wings and a pineapple bowl. The wings were so good. Definitely recommend this place to anyone

I'm in town for the weekend, and my mom suggested that we stop here for lunch. I've seen filled pineapples over the years, but have never tried one. When we arrived, it was a couple of people waiting for their order & dining inside. Then more people started to arrive quickly! You could tell that the spot was "poppin"! The cashier was helpful in explaining to us what the different sauces/ salsas tasted like to help us decide. I ordered the chicken pineapple with the pineapple salsa and sweet & spicy sauce. It was definitely a party in my mouth!! I enjoyed every bite/ the experience and will visit again!

Let me tell you, these pineapple bowls are insanely good! I got the chicken pineapple bowl with pineapple teriyaki & sweet and spicy sauce, and the pineapple mango salsa and it was absolutely delicious! I remember my first time having one of their bowls a few years back and it was sooo good, that I had to come back when I was back in town to get one again. Definitely give this shop a chance, it's totally worth your time & money. Plus, the owner, Sam, is phenomenal!

    Chicken Bowl Friday

I truly had a five star experience during my first visit here on a Friday evening. There weren't many people inside. We walked right up to the counter and placed our order after the host offered recommendations when I told her it was our first time trying the establishment. She said the wait would be about 15 minutes and I think she was pretty spot on. Time passed quickly admiring the cute decor and playing Pac-Man with my toddler on the arcade game inside. Super cute touch IMO. I had the honey chicken pineapple bowl with pineapple salsa and it was so good! Hot, and fresh ingredients. My husband ordered the chicken Rasta pasta with a side of broccoli. It also came with garlic bread! It was equally good. We tried the shrimp patty as well! Delicious! I forgot to try the plantains which are a fan favorite of mine! Will just have to try next time. And they were out of chicken wings, which I also really want to try. I will be back soon!

An incredible new food truck in Tallahassee! Pineappetit brings something so completely new to the capital city, serving something so beautifully simply and delicious while making it look like we're sitting on the beach in paradise! The concept is half a fresh pineapple, hollowed out, and packed with cilantro lime rice, your choice of protein (chicken, steak, shrimp, and salmon), and your choice of sauce. The chicken, made with fresh bell peppers and onions and topped with jerk sauce, was so unbelievably good and full of flavor! As an added bonus, you get 2 pineapple spears to snack on while you wait, so nothing really goes to waste! Overall, pull right over if you see Pineappetit parked in the lot! You don't want to miss this!

Is this establishment still open? I've called several times and even been there to try and eat. Each time I call, no one answers and the times I've been, the place is closed.

It is still open. I was near there Thursday during lunchtime. I haven't tried calling though.

I had wanted to try Leon's at Lake Ella and just hadn't been able to get there on the right day. We…read morewere so fortunate that we decided to take a chance on a Saturday just one short hour before closing time. The weather was beautiful and we snagged a lovely lakeside table. Our lunch was beyond expectations! The She Crab and Tomato bisques were savory, filling, and hearty enough to eat as a standalone. Paired with the sandwiches, they satisfied our tummy with enough leftover for dinner too. The Fried Green Tomato sandwich was a perfect blend of savory and sweet with the tomato jam kissing the Rosemary Focaccia and the Boursin cheese added a nice bite. The Grilled Cheese sandwich brought us back to our childhood but better, with an adult flavor profile for refined palates. Shhh don't tell Mom. The level of care, expertise, and love that goes into each of these dishes, shines through each and every bite. We had the pleasure of enjoying Chef Leon's food at a local charity event. We were fortunate to snag a very coveted lunch spot. The restaurant is going through some changes and is currently not serving lunch BUT Chef Leon is offering soup orders on a regular basis. My goodness! I can just put all of my pots and pans away and order directly from him. I look forward to what Chef Leon has planned for us next. Be sure to follow him on Facebook to stay up to date on his plans and to get alerted to his next date for soup orders. I AM CERTAIN THAT WHATSVER Chef Leon has planned, it will be worth the wait.
