I had a visit planned this year and I had to cancel. I followed the cancelation policy (and submitted their form on their website) and they still refused to refund me. This is not professional behavior expected of a business. Please be weary when deciding to have your stay here. You will have a great time but if you need to cancel, THEY WILL KEEP YOUR MONEY and refuse contact with you. They do not respect or follow their own policies. Don't fall for it. They will not refund your money if you cancel within the time frame stated in their policies.

The decor is so charming in the house. It's like stepping into an antique shop. Joe, the owner, was extremely nice. He gave us a little history of the house and was kind enough to give us recommendations of where to dine in Galena. The breakfast he served was so yummy! I definitely was a member of the Clean Plate Club. The 24 hour refreshment hutch and fridge on the guest floor is great. And the fresh cookies were a treat! The location is only a short walk to Main Street, which is another plus. Will definitely be back on our next trip to Galena!

I was pleased that each room had a separate sitting room and it's own bathroom/ shower. We went in the fall/summer so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the bedroom fireplace but it looked so nice! The owner (who took it over in April from his parents) was very friendly and helpful- not overbearing at all! Breakfast was good- we were able to pick between a couple options when he asked us upon checkin. Coffee was good & several juices on the table. On the bedroom level here was a mini fridge, coffee machine, and water machine for use. Also the bedrooms are more separate and since there are only 3guest rooms it was a nice private feel. The only two negatives that I found was I wished they had a surge protector next to the bed because I had to unplug the clock/radio since I prefer to keep my cell phone on the nightstand charging while I sleep (my husband had an extra outlet on his side to use); the other part is they put a lot of effort decorating... There was lots of vases and stuffed teddy bears on the ground which upon leaving I could not simply scan the floor that nothing was left. However the Best part of this place was the location! Excellent perfect location! We were able to walk to everything! When we drove to Iowa (15mins away) we passed a lot of b&b that were not so close which made us really appreciate this place!! We had a hot 90 degree day but inside there's central air, plus a window unit, a ceiling fan and additional tabletop fan if needed. Needless to say, we were totally comfortable. Our room also had a free-standing tub, which is unique to us. You may not like that part if you're claustrophobic, because you're totally enveloped in its graceful, pretty shower curtain... just an fyi. Definitely added to the charm, though. Also, if you're used to a king bed, like we are, this bed might feel a bit snug. Again, just fyi. The B&B is very conventionally located to town, just a few minutes walk. Make sure you bring your walking legs for the hills though ;) As with the whole area. Breakfasts were filling and delicious. Cookies and candies are always available, too. I used to take my littles there multiple times a year, but they are now 12 and 9 and even they are starting to take notice of how trashy it is getting. All that staff seems to be allowed to do is nicely ask them to stop, which is not doing anything to correct the situation. Someone needs to start pulling some passes for the day so the word gets out so that the behavior doesn't kill this ski hill!!!

We are not B & B people, however, Walnut Ridge is not your normal "communal" accommodations - "Back Again" is an 1100 square foot cabin, well appointed - privately and quietly welcoming it's visitors from nearby tourist locations like Galena,Dubuque, Platteville, Prairie du Chien, Madison, Spring Green, Mineral Point, Dodgeville. "Back Again" is a respite for the weary traveler and casual guests - radiant floor heat, fireplace, stocked kitchen, whirlpool tub - neatly finished in an expertly restored 1800's log cabin - set in an iconic, rural, Wisconsin wooded lot of 5.5 acres. Check in and check out was unobtrusive - we never saw our hosts. Drive in, kick off your shoes, mix an Old Fashioned, and run yourself a warm, relaxing soak. Ah, even a bathrobe waiting for you in the sun room. Enjoy - we did.

Check in and check out were hassle free, and as other reviewers have mentioned, we never even saw our hosts during the visit. 5. Jill was responsive to our questions and was able to recommend a nearby area for a scenic walk. Cons 1. The website describes the cabins as private and secluded; however the owner's residence and cabins are all within 100 yards of each other, so the feeling of privacy was limited to the interior of our cabin. Cabin Life is also quite close to the road, so traffic noise could be heard even while inside. 2. The website advertises a "continental deluxe breakfast" delivered to the door of Cabin Life each morning by "the breakfast fairy". While the breakfast fairy did exist, and delivered on time, we did not feel that the contents of one small fruit tart, 2 banana muffins, and a scant palm-full of raspberries were up to par with our expectations from the website description. We chose to dine at the Country Kitchen in Platteville instead, which had good food and pleasant service. 3. Hair conditioner was not included with the bath products provided, which resulted in our evening being interrupted by an unplanned half hour round trip to the Platteville drug store.

Although they advertise WiFi there was not. RV dump station is not RV friendly. Water is not close enough to the sewer to rinse hose after emptying holding tanks. Nowhere to dispose of trash at the dump station. Only one trash dumpster in the entire park and not easily accessible by RV.
