My child is slightly scared of heights so the gondola ride up was a little scary for him. Once we were on the top, he was fine with the open views of all around Georgia. The mountain was also the site where the second Ku Klux Klan was founded in 1915. Knowing that history made it difficult for me to fully enjoy the experience. They've built a family-friendly attraction area around the park with shops, activities, and entertainment, but when we visited, it was DEAD. There were barely any people around, and the area felt almost deserted. I'm not sure if it was the day we visited, the cost of the attractions, or simply that people come more for the hiking and scenery, but the attraction area lacked energy. The mountain itself and the surrounding nature are beautiful, but personally, the history behind the site is something I can't overlook. I'm glad I experienced it once, but it's probably not somewhere I'd go out of my way to visit again.
