Eddie was informative and answered our many horse related questions! We took the shorter ride and it was a very quaint and smooth ride through the woods with Eddie leading the way. All and all a great way to spend an hour of your day hanging out with some beautiful animals and great company.

We asked them about parking (no fee) and were returning there for lunch later anyway. We then hiked up Rt 190 about 50 yards and found the trail crossing. We opted to do the one on the left - I think it was Bentley? The one on the right was the Pine Mountain trail. The trail was a nice hike through the woods but never more than 200 yards from a main road. We followed it to a junction and turned right so as to begin the loop back. Since it had taken longer than planned already, we hiked back along Route 190 instead of another trail. In total, it was about 2.1 miles and took us from 10:45 a.m. to 12:05 p.m.! The trail was hilly with a lot of rocks so the pace was slow. I enjoyed the hike, though.

FDR State Park near Warm Springs, Georgia…read more Very nice state park with lots of nearby attractions to visit including Calloway Gardens and FDR's Little Whitehouse. The small town of Warm Springs had several little shops that were nice to walk through, even found some unique Christmas gifts. The highlight of downtown Warm Springs was the Bullock House Restaurant for their country cooking lunch buffet, a great bargain at $12.50 for the good food they serve. The park has several campsite areas, I believe were numbered as Campgrounds 1 through 5. The check-in building in a large CCC flagstone structure with a nice camp shop, but don't miss the scenic overlook out behind the building. Most rv camp sites we rode by were very wooded with good shade and seemed to be level. Each area has its own bathhouse. The one in our area was clean and offered two family restroom/shower room combinations in addition to the standard women's' and men's sides. Campsites in Campground 1 with numbers starting in the 100's are on or near a small lake. They did have some paddle boats but I didn't see any being rented so they could have been discontinued for the Winter. We did see several people fishing from the lakeshore. A Georgia license is required for fishing and the camp shop had a "Bait for Sale" sign. The CCC built Liberty Bell flagstone pool was also drained and closed for the season. A handful of the sites in Campground 1 are directly in the lake and some of those have full hookups. We were lucky to be in one of those lakefront full hookup sites. The park has several hiking trails but bikes are not allowed on them. It is a short drive to Dowdell's Knob, an overlook that FDR used to enjoy visiting and picnicing at when he was in the area. The foliage was still colorful but past its peak when we visited in mid-November. We enjoyed our stay in one of the best campsites we have had in a state park this year.

A very nice place to see a fish hatchery near Warm Springs…read moreWarm Springs is a very nice quaint town with a few things to see and do. We were lucky to have a harvest fair that was going on when we visited. We decided to see if a place we had visited before was open since it was during the government shutdown. The building was not open but the surrounding parts of it are accessible to the public. The Warm Springs Fish Hatchery is a quiet and peaceful place that feels a bit frozen in time but is still well worth a visit. You can simply stroll around the various ponds and see fish moving through the water while birds gather nearby. The wooden walkway, though showing its age, adds a rustic charm as it is positioned under trees and over a pond filled with fish, giving visitors a close-up look at the hatchery's work. Informational signs along the concrete pond on the north side and along the walkway provide details about the fish and the history of the hatchery, making the visit both relaxing and educational. We visited years ago and found that it still has that same quiet appeal--a reminder of a time when places like this focused more on nature than on presentation. It's a good stop if you're in the area and want to enjoy an easy unhurried walk, learn something about fish conservation, and take in the sounds and sights of the outdoors.

We have stopped here many time because my parents live not far from here. They used to have a spot…read moreto pull over to look at the river below but not they have parking spots and a beautiful deck to overlook the river below. They also have clean public restrooms. They have cabins/tv/tent spots to rent on Airbnb and reserveamerica.com. We have rented their cabins 4 years in a row now. They are gorgeous. They also have a small country store with supplies if you forget something if you rent the cabins and shirts and souvenirs to buy as well. The park itself is down the winding road to the bottom of the mountain there is not designated parking just a gravel road. They have trails to walk and a park and also newly built gazebos to rent or reserve for parties and celebrations. They do have restrooms there as well. You can swim in the river but the current can be strong and there are no lifeguards. If you want a extremely peaceful place to visit take a chance and go here.

I was astounded by the sight of it and when I actually sauntered along the shore of Robin Lake Beach at Callaway Gardens. Honestly, I have a high standard of what beautiful beaches are. I come from a tropical and archipelagic country renowned for world-class beaches--long stretches of powdery white sand, crystal-clear turquoise waters, and a backdrop of beautiful landscape and sunset. Robin Lake Beach has sugary white sand shore that you can enjoy frolicking the whole day. It is also a pristine lake that water enthusiasts and sun lovers will surely spend time doing a lot of water activities, especially during summer time. What is one good thing visiting here is that it is nestled in Callaway Resort & Garden. After exploring and enjoying the other areas in the garden, you can relax here in the late afternoons--enjoying the picturesque scenery until the sun sets.
