The outside and entrance are beautiful in this not so out of the way location near Iron Mountain. Entering the lobby you will feel as though you are in for a great experience at a bargain price. Things change as soon as we entered the closet sized elevator. I received a metal key for the door which I haven't seen in nearly twenty years. The room had a cramped feeling, the TV is not wide screen (how spoiled we've become). These are not too serious and I can live with some outdatedness and the beds were comfortable and the room and bath were clean as expected. Now to something a little more serious. There was no hot water. I let the shower tap run for three minutes and the hot water never arrived. Since the water temp. was not ice cold but more like room temperature I took a shower anyway. After all I've been in third world countries and the army and experienced worse. Figuring perhaps housekeeping should know they may have a problem I went to report the lack of hot water. The desk clerk's answer was ..." oh someone must have took a long shower and it ran out, just wait a few hours." Since the hotel did not appear to have dozens of teens running around that are prone to twenty minute hot showers I can't accept an answer like this. The next excuse was that the hot water heaters for the rooms is in the basement and if there was a real problem the kitchen would not have hot water and they aren't reporting a problem. Jump to the next morning and still no hot water. I got through another room temp shower and wondered what kind of a painful poor shave I could accomplish with cool water and decided to use the coffee maker to run clear water. Before laboring I gave the water another shot and ran the sink tap and suddenly there was hot water. Problem solved? Not quite, that night and the next morning no hot water again. Next situation. There was absolutely no Wi-Fi in the room, also 3G did not register on my device. The restaurant and lobby had a weak Wi-Fi signal and I could squeak by. The next day I did have an urgent message to send and could not find enough strength to send. I asked the desk clerk about the Wi-Fi and I was told .."Go stand in the restaurant.". I wonder where the transmitter was kept as the restaurant signal was one bar, but enough to get by. Some other little problems-The cable reception is sometimes fuzzy and the audio at times cuts out. Not all the channels listed on menu were available . Both nights we stayed we did not hear rowdy guests but there was a mysterious bumping noise and rumbling drifting through the walls. It reminded me of apartment living when someone upstairs would be moving furniture. The grounds are beautiful and be sure to go get some exercise by walking the steep steps next to the lift.

Ahi tuna with avocado and rice. The best I've had anywhere and I've been to lots of places!

Large plastic piece found in our sandwich. 3 people in the kitchen-one of them just standing there-is he a security guard?? So strange. Bartender was friendly and quick-only reason they deserve the one star. Have eaten here so many times in the past-will never be back.

It was probably about another 10 minutes before she came and took my order! I ordered their 8oz burger, medium rare, with no bun and French fries. 30 minutes later she finally brought the burger to me. Everywhere else I've ever ordered a burger without the bun it's been brought out on a plate! This was brought out in a basket on a single layer of liner paper. Just the act of moving it to the flat surface of the table so I could use a fork to eat almost turned into a disaster! By the texture and lack of taste it was obviously microwaved! There's wasn't a speck of pink to be found anywhere, only the same gray appearance throughout! It was juicy, but again it had no taste! No browning either which proves it was microwaved and not put on the grill! I waited another 5 minutes before I went to the waitstaff station and asked when I might get my French fries. She went and obviously got them from under the warmer lights! There's absolutely no reason I'll ever want to eat there again!!!

I don't mean to disparage this place too much, but there are a few concerns I'd like to address:…read more - My son fell on the bunny hill, and when he was taken to the infirmary to assess his injuries, one of the questions they asked him was whether he was wearing a helmet. We were never at any point offered a helmet. Didn't know they were available. We did appreciate the care he received by the ski patrol. - Wish there was a shorter ski pass option available. It was my mistake to assume skiing conditions would be OK on an icy March day, but I ended up skiing all of 30 mins. in very poor conditions and spending $300 on three of us to ski and take a short snowboard lesson. - Love the "Learn to" package deal. It was confusing when and whether this was offered, but once we determined it was, we really appreciated the intro lesson. - Ski rental -- the person working here did not set up my bindings correctly and I had to go back and have him fix it. - Apparently there was a group of people sitting in the lodge laughing and making fun of the inexperienced skiers falling. Not the fault of the ski hill, but just thought people might like a heads up about the culture and clientele this place might attract. Won't be returning here next time we're in the UP. Just not a great vibe overall. People really should be ashamed of this kind of behavior. It's not the Michigan that I grew up in.

I have grown up skiing in the Midwest majority of my life. This place is decent size but if your…read morelooking for a beginner place then be wise. Majority of the hills are blue square and black diamonds, this wasn't a problem for us be could for others. Three lifts, not busy when I went on a weekend. 4 stars because both days we went it took well over a half hour-hour to get my boyfriends rentals. They were not busy at all I just think they need to be more organized with how they have it set up due to covid. They also got his gear out when he bought lift tickets at 8:30am. They left his gear for an hour and a half outside and didn't give him warm boots. Overall, definitely check this place out. Tons of fun.
