This review will be two fold as only part of the poor rating reflects on one portion of the…read moreexperience. 5 stars : * The check-in process was great. I booked ahead and upon arrival had zero issues checking in. * Christina, the Assistant GM, was very nice. Great service and very upbeat. She made sure she got us our gift bags too which came upon check in. * Christina also made sure that we knew the times of breakfast, check out, and what to do if we wanted to have clean bedding and towels, and how to turn on our mini fridge in our room. * Our room was very nice. We got a king size bed in the newly renovated portion of the hotel - first floor. (See photos) * We appreciated the refreshed bar in the entry way of the hotel which had coffee, hot cocoa, and even popcorn in the evening. 1 star : * We stayed for 3 days, 2 nights. On the 2nd day we made sure we put all our towels together, and bedding too, and let Josh at the front desk know that we wanted housekeeping to refresh our room. This was done at 8:30/9am, to ensure we gave plenty of time for the staff to know what we desired and also followed the exact protocol we were told. ** When we got back to our room later that afternoon, 3pm, no housekeeping had been in our room to refresh it. I went to the desk and talked to Josh again about this and he just said housekeeping had left for the day so we couldn't get our room refreshed. There was no apology and frankly, he didn't care. My husband came to talk to the GM or AGM but Josh said they weren't around and said there's nothing he can do to make things right. So we had no housekeeping and dirty sheets, dirty towels despite following protocol (see photo). *** Was pretty upsetting that nothing was made right to ensure we had a nice stay despite what happened. **** Josh was SUPER unprofessional. He made funny face gestures when speaking on the phone in front of customers and guests waiting to speak with him. He was extremely unkind, lacked customer service, and frankly didn't care how his actions or words affected the situation. It's unfortunate having a staff member like this because it puts a damper on the entire staff and hotel. ***** Fortunately, Christina was amazing and made up for the experience with Josh. She made our stay start off on a great foot and although it ended on a bad note, she was pleasant and kind.

The "new room smell" was quite strong, but the room was spotless and well-appointed. The view was amazing. We dined at the restaurant on site - good service, good food, great view. Bigby Coffee is not our favorite but it is certainly convenient. Plenty of parking, great amenities - we didn't have time to take advantage of the free bikes and kayaks but what a great option to have! The pool/hot tub/sauna are dated but it was clean and nice to have available. We would stay again if we come back this way.

It was just what the doctor ordered and aleviated my pain. I visited with my service dog and had no issues so long as he was wearing his vest. The staff was helpful and courteous. They even followed up with a text message to make sure we were enjoying our stay. The restaurant on site was quite pricy. I did not try the coffee shop that brewed their own local coffee. Our room was recently renovated. It was perfect for us since we parked right outside the door. It was tastefully decorated with scenes of Michigan's natural beauty. Outside, there was also a pathway along the lake to go for a stroll and enjoy the outdoors. I would definitely return to this hotel on my next visit to Escanaba!

Terrible. Most of…read morethe staff - at least 80% - are unhappy, miserable, and not courteous. In fact, the 80% number might be low. From the staff at the check-in counter, to the bartenders, to the persons working the casino floor... these people are terribly unfriendly. The rooms, while clean, lacked adequate sound proofing; throughout the night and day, I could hear people walking in their room from the floor above and I could clearly hear people talking as they walked past my room. The rooms are terrible! The new restaurant in the bar, the Rock 'n' Brew, I believe, was disappointing. Tried some chicken wings, which were flavorful, but the staff screwed up my side order thrice. The first time, my side order arrived with unwanted and unrequested cheese atop it. The waitress apologized and sent it back to the kitchen. The side order returned to my table... COLD! The waitress apologized again, sent it back to the kitchen, and returned with it later. When my broccoli arrived it final time, it was an overheated mash of green; steamed broccoli should retain a small crunch and not be mashed like baby food! The manager visited my table, apologized, and removed the side dish from my bill. I do not recommend the restaurant and I will not patronize it again. The casino floor was... unimpressive. While there were many slot machines, a handful of which were new, there were only a couple of card tables both of which were staffed by miserable persons. There is no roulette. There is no craps table. There is no fun to be had here. Compared to a casino such as the Oneida Casino near Green Bay, this is the worst casino I have visited in Wisconsin. Stay far, far away.
