mannn FUCK this school i went here during 6th grade and now…read moreim in 10th idk whats changed but i assume nothing since its a CMS school. i was getting bullied really badly. i tried taking it up with the counselors, and they just told me to "try avoiding them" during and outside of class. MF THEY ARE SITTING RIGHT NEXT TO ME the teachers did nothing to solve this, the one spesific teacher was ms elliot man she can go to hell i hate her they cancelled field trips because we "misbehaved" too much and blamed the entire grade on it. i remember getting in trouble with the principal and admins because i was NEAR someone who said some slurs or something. i never even heard them say anything and yet they pulled me out of class for it??? if your gonna bring your kid here from any other CMS school, just dont. its also very overcrowded, and almost nobody cares about their job there. also its next to hough which has a bomb threat like every week so yeah fuck cms and fuck you guys

If you want your child in a natural setting doing organic gardening and raising chickens as well as having strong academics, and your child likes to have teacher-guided learning, arbitrary rules, and can sit still well, and you can afford it, this may be the school for you!

This school is the best private school in the Charlotte area. Yes, it is beautiful, has an organic…read moregarden that teaches my child about the importance of healthy eating by showing him where our food comes from -- from the seed to his plate -- and allows my highly energetic son to spend class time learning outdoors (including with Chickens!). But more than that it has given my naturally shy, reserved son an amazing confidence and love of learning that has transformed him. He started Woodlawn as a person who could barely look an adult in the eye because of shyness, and ended the year doing a solo poetry reading at the school talent show. He started the year wary of the wealthy show-offs and bullies he had encountered at a Lake Norman preschool, and ended with 11 of the best friends he has ever had -- all 11 of his classmates. The teachers at this school are truly amazing, and beyond the beautiful school grounds, are the real gem of this school. We have never seen teachers who care so much about the success of each one child. They are truly shaping our son into the kind of caring, unselfish, hard-working, confident person we want him to become, and we could not be more grateful. Thank you Woodlawn!!

The school is bias against boys for sure, more than one male child told me of experiences. This school has a toxic environment for children, is run like a prison (actually worse as inmates do not receive double punishment for the same charge, but these kids do), not conducive to a learning environment and is unsafe for kids. There were 4 fights within the first 2 weeks of school. Gov Stein should strip their funds, shut them down and reorganize. The science curriculum was teaching incorrect information until I told them the online content was WRONG, they shove an iPad in front of the kids with wrong content and obviously are not teaching them. Completely disgusted at what my $5k/year in taxes gave my child as a learning experience. We have transferred to another school as a result of their incompetence. Do not send your child here, not if you want them to be successful in life.
