This trail partially follows lake Massabesic until it veers off into the woods and you can no longer see the water. It's not as scenic, but well maintained and easy to follow with some side paths too. This trail seems to be fairly heavily trafficked by all walks of life. It is totally flat and not challenging whatsoever. Just a nice stroll to go on if that's your thing. It is dog friendly and has porta potties for the rest of us. The park area is a fair size. Wish we could swim in it, but that's not the case. Many signs say not to. Guess we will have to all admire it from afar. Plenty of free parking here also and a boat launch if you can find it (different address than listed here).

I'm sure there are better spots to swim, but this place looks like it gets the job done. Dog friendly everywhere except on the beach itself. Dogs must be kept on a leash. Doggie clean up bags are not provided, so be sure to bring your own.

Cons are that, no floaties are allowed, only coast guard approved PFDs are allowed, no skipping stones, no horseplay, etc. there also porta-potties in season. Did I say picture perfect? Idyllic. The water blocked off for swimming is not that deep. I think the deepest is probably 5 feet. They do have lifeguards on duty and a little snack shack. Water is clean for a lake and typically warm. There is a playground and a couple picnic tables. Not much shade. Kids are allowed to wear lifejackets, but that is all I recall seeing for flotation devices. They do have kayaks and I think paddle boots you can rent. Opens at 10 AM.
