Friendly service, conveniently locate, but the guest rooms, at least the one we stayed in, are in desperate need of renovations and a good cleaning. We recently stayed at Pine Barn Inn when in town for an event at a different venue. Check in was quick and easy and the lobby cutely decorated. Upon entering our room, we felt like we were staying in a dark cave for the evening. Upon closer examination it was quite apparent that the room was showing many years of "wear", needing renovation, or at least a very deep cleaning. After reading the other reviews I had to double check we stayed at the same Pine Barn Inn, because there definitely must be differences between the various sections of the motel. Was here form a short business related trip and stayed at the inn as well as dined here for my two meals of lunch and dinner. The inn and room was very quaint and even had a mini kitchen and separate seating areas from the bedroom. It also had two vanities/sinks, one in the bathroom and one in the bedroom. The furnishings could be updated and some details reviewed such as the trims, paint etc. The room was clean though and had ample supplies. The restaurants are both quaint as well and have a decent sized varied menu. The service was nice, quick, and food portions generous. The flavors of the salad and soup were good but could have been elevated. The pricing is fair as well. Dinner of the steak in the tavern area of the resto was a different ambience. The steak was good too and the accompanying gnocchi. The service that night could have been more helpful. read more

Attended a wedding here recently. It was great to have everything together and central. This venue is interesting because it's right in the middle of a small town and next to a hospital. There are different buildings with rooms and then the central lodge with the front desk, a tavern, outdoor bar/happy hour space, and the ballroom. We had some drinks in the tavern before the ceremony which were great. However the drinks they were pouring at the reception seemed so weak/watered down. My husband and I each had multiple drinks and never once felt even remotely buzzed which was odd. The food was okay, but not great. The breakfast buffet the next day was also bad - cold potatoes, dry pastries, etc. however friends of ours who ate breakfast at the tavern restaurant the day before (not part of the wedding related buffet) said it was great, so the inconsistencies are odd. The venue is great for a wedding given the different spaces and rooms, and we had a blast, but the food and drinks served at the wedding were lacking. read more

This is a tough review to write. The place is adorable, charming and convenient. The staff were friendly and helpful. However we had probably the worst night's sleep we have EVER had in a hotel. The bed was rather uncomfortable to start. But the biggest issue was the terrible temperature control. It was a super hot 73 degrees when we arrived and lowering the thermostat to 67 did nothing to reduce the temp until we turned on the A/C...This was on a cold October night. We got the temp down to a semi-tolerable 70 degrees, turned off the A/C and went to bed only to wake up hot with the room back to 73 degrees even though we had the system heat off. The temp was in the 50s outside! We had turn on the loud A/C in the middle of the night which did very little to help. We got very little sleep and eventually just left early. Maybe a different room or another time of year would be better. read more

Dined here twice, within two weeks. First night, my wife enjoyed her shrimp, and we both enjoyed our drinks. My Salmon was overcooked, and not delicious. I tired them again tonight, about two weeks later, with a friend. Our drinks were good, as was my steamed clams and my friends shrimp appetizer. My friend ordered ribs, which where dry and unappetizing. I foolishly ordered the salmon again, and found it to be over cooked and dried out. Neither of us enjoyed our meal, and passed on taking a doggie bag home. This being my second bad dining experience within two weeks, I won't be returning until I hear of a shake up in management and kitchen. read more

I stopped in while traveling along Highway 80 across PA. When you walk in you will immediately notice the flies, sticky floors, and outdated decor. This part of PA doesn't have many options, but I would suggest looking harder than we did. The food is mediocre, though someone nearby got a salad and it looked tasty. Our sandwiches were soggy and the fries were obviously sitting too long. The chairs and tables were sticky and probably purchased in 1980. Overall, I would prefer going to McDonald along the Highway than taking the time to come here. I will not be returning on our trip back across PA. read more

The allergen awareness here is good. For their breakfast menu they don't really offer much "nut stuff" as Laura and I would say so that is a plus on our end. The food itself is fine. That is all though. I feel it is about as average as it gets. Though, for the price the portions are fair. I ordered a smoked salmon omelette. I got this out of curiosity. Definitely not something I've had before. It was filled with cream cheese, tomato, onion, and smoked salmon. I could tell what they were going for but felt it fell a bit short. The omelette itself was not constructed well. The ingredients were not evenly distributed whatsoever. The whole dish seemed to try too hard if that makes sense? I get the idea but it just wasn't coming together well for me. The side of home fries were relatively tasteless which is lame but the jam and toast was actually quite good. The strawberry was pretty stellar. The pancakes were on point. They were semi sweet and the syrup didn't overpower the savory and buttery taste of the pancakes. They did a fine job. The servers were good as well. Ours was kind and attentive. Overall though the experience was underwhelming though. Expected more from the food. read more

First time trying the Inn for dinner, my 62nd birthday. We called ahead for a table for 4 and two kids with high chairs. We arrived and nothing was set up and we had to grab our own high chairs. it took awhile before our server came over. it took awhile to get water and then drinks even longer. The two appetizers arrived quick and were good. Things fell apart after it took an hour to get our meals and the kids had finished theirs. My order was wrong and it should have been obvious since my meal didn't come with a baked tater but the meal they gave me did and yes you guessed it, my plate had two baked taters on it. the drinks were very watery and not very good for 8 bucks. the service was slow and our meals looked and tasted like they sat under the warming lamps too long. lastly they tried to bill me for the order I didn't order. Needed a hotel close to" Knoebels" Amusement park and the Pine Barn Inn was still available. Hampton Inn and Super 8 were sold out for labor day weekend so took a chance with Pine Barn Inn. For being such an older property the hotel was super clean and newly remodeled. Super cute remodel at the front desk . The man at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The only downfall to the stay was the walls were super thin and we could hear the baby in the room next door crying . read more

My boss took me here for breakfast on my final week at Geisinger. It was a elegant restaurant with fine dining. It was surprisingly crowded for 7:30 in the morning. I got the Kennett Square Omelette with home fries and wheat toast. It was filled with shiitake mushrooms and chopped oysters. The omelette was delicious and had a soft texture. Zero seasoning, not even salt let alone a fragment of garlic. Expected a wine or broth based sauce. It missed the mark entirely. I got butter & oil noodles topped with Shrimp. Went for breakfast for Father's Day. Service was extremely slow. Had the food been good we could have accepted slow service. All five of us had potatoes that were stone cold and inedible. Two of our party ordered Crab Benedict. The crab tasted a little off and the eggs were closer to hardboiled, not poached. The cheese omelet was brown on both sides and overcooked. None of us had crisp toast - they were limp and floppy. It had been awhile since we last ate there because of less than stellar meals. This review is about the restaurant. I've also stayed in the hotel and agree with what most people had to say. This is our favorite place for brunch in Danville. We've been here multiple times but somehow I never wrote a review. You can sit in the main restaurant or the tavern, we prefer the main area. Portions are big so make sure you're hungry when you go. They also have a buffet option-Served in the tavern. I've had most savory dishes of the breakfast menu. Personal favorites are eggs Benedict, Tuscan scrambled eggs and the Presidential french toast (my wife orders this every time we go!). Mexican omelette is good too. I recently had the Spanish tortilla and it wasn't as good-Too much potato for my taste. As a meat lover, I've tried the Meat lover's scrambler but I didn't really like it. My wife also likes the homemade preserves. They have different flavors in each table and are also available for purchase. Overall I totally recommend this place for brunch. The place is nice, food is good and not expensive at all. They could be more creative with some dishes and get 5 starts ;) read more

Upon arrival the place was very clean and in order. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and nice. Booking.com gave us an issue and was supposed to let us know the reservation was cancelled but she made sure to help us out to ensure that we weren't double charged. The hotel is not very large but there are two separate buildings with rooms in them. The building we stayed in was more of a "hotel". Free coffee was offered on the first floor (delicious, definitely stop for some in the morning). Entering the rooms they were very large and clean, there were more than enough towels as well which is always good. The bed was extremely comfortable and the chairs were comfortable as well. The air conditioning kicked right on and cooled the room quickly. The shower wasn't difficult to maneuver and it got hot and cold quickly. The restaurant on site was very good and the food was farm fresh and delicious, although the service was extremely slow for dinner. If you're in the area this is definitely a nice place to stop and relax for the night. FYI - the hospital is right behind the premises so there is a lot of business people there staying for seminars but it seems that this is what keeps the hotel very clean so it is a plus. read more

I've been eating at the Pint Barn Inn off and on for forty years and the meal I just ate was the best I've ever eaten there. I had the whiskey salmon. It was perfectly baked. The only trace of whiskey was a ghost of sweetness, matched by a relative in the coleslaw. The meat was juicy beyond reason and it melted in your mouth, I was surprised by the white cream sauce on the broccoli. I contained at least one herb and immediately got my taste buds' attention. The open Sutter's Mill Chardonnay had hint of the soil its grapes had grown in and complemented the dinner delightfully. read more

We stayed there on Wednesday night for a business trip and all expenses were covered, but I looked at their web site and I feel the rates are quite reasonable. We had a king suite (huge!). It was spotless and had good amenities, although the furniture & carpeting looked a little "tired". The hotel manager was at the reception desk when we checked in and he was very pleasant. My husband ate breakfast & lunch there on Thursday with business colleagues and he said the food was good (again, he wasn't paying - but their restaurant prices seemed very reasonable). We also appreciated the quietness and the no-smoking policy - although two workers were smoking right outside the entrance at one point. read more

We've eaten here before several times, so overall we really like going there. Today was just a quick stop for lunch. When we checked in, we were met with the host, Mike. A young snotty kid who reminded me of the Maitre-D in Ferris Buellers Day Off. He asked if we had reservations, we did not and he gives a quick look around and acted like we were putting him into some sort of disposition about it, but he did find us a table. Which while our entire time there, there were at least four 4-place tables, two 5-6 place tables and one 2-place table available. Our waitress Melissa (Missy) was friendly, attentive and professional. My wife got the gyro and I got the fish sandwich. Both were very good and plenty big! Our entire time there, there were two tables next to us, never cleaned off. Maybe they need to hire more help? Seemed like there were plenty of people walking around. Almost gave it 3 stars due to Mike. But everything else was good. Service was quick, the place is clean, other than the 2 tables waiting to be cleaned and our waitress was on the spot. Worse "fine dining" experience I've had in a very long time. We waited for over an hour and 15 minutes for our food. No one even brought us bread for nearly half an hour! The portion sizes were unreasonably small. The seafood dish was 20 dollars and had maybe 4 pieces of seafood in it. My mother's dish was ice cold. The waitress' first sentence to us was "I'm having a bad day." And to make up for this they discounted the bill 15 dollars. Just ridiculous!! We will never be coming back and recommend others think carefully before spending this kind of money for a similar experience. Definitely NOT worth the price even remotely. read more

I've never had a purpose to stay in the Danville / Bloomsburg area, but found myself looking for a hotel online. After a nice amount of research, this one was picked out and it was a great score. You'll have to forgive the following review.....it's more "hodge podge"...but there are quite a few items I wanted to state that I think separate this hotel from the others I've stayed at. The room itself was a typical hotel room one might expect from any chain....in fact....it is one that I have stayed in a ton of times before (if you catch my drift...it is a typical room). But the other items what made us pleased.... Coming in from Rt 80....we saw 7 other places we looked at.....all popular names......cookie cutter and some of them somewhat beat up. Now...you might think, what does this matter? To me....when I was looking for quiet, this was it I didn't have to hear the highway.....when I was looking simply to take a walk at 6am since the 2 year old was up and the others could sleep, this was it......when I wanted to ask about the free wi-fi at the front desk, someone was there, not on a smoke break......when I asked the room cleaner a recommendation on a restaurant I could go that was kid friendly for breakfast and was more on the local side, I got a thoughtful response......when we said we were going to go to a local amusement park, the front desk staff quickly whipped out some discount coupons to see if we could use them..........these little things added up being major factors. The Pine Barn is a bit odd by the fact that there are more than one kind of room (style and size)...but that is because I think they went through a few renovations and the rooms are spread over a few buildings on the property. The prices of these rooms vary as well. The buildings themselves are located on the campus of a medical center up there (rather large hospital actually for the area) and there is a strict no smoking policy....everything had that clean smell. They have a nicer than average restaurant (actually a bit on the fancier side) and a tavern where you can get more than just beer and wine. Do yourself a favor.....if you are staying in the Bloomsburg / Danville area off of Rt 80.....vear away from the highway and give this gem a try. I cannot give a 5 star as that kind of implies a resort.....but overall....this is pretty good....well above any other in the area you will see. read more

Hotel: Great rooms and great service. It's a great 'little' place that has all a big chain hotel has to offer without corrupting the little backwoods inn feel. The rooms are large and comfortable with all of the amenities expected. I had the unfortunate pleasure of staying on the pull out couch in a suite, and even that was better than I had expected. Overall, I would definitely stay there again. Restaurant: I went to the pub rather than the restaurant proper and I think that the pub was a much better selection. The decor was much more relaxed and natural. They had great food and an OK selection of beer. The burger were nice a juicy and the onion straws were top-notch. The beer was good, but I would have liked to have seen a larger selection of domestic beers on draught, rather than only the lite domestics. Service was good and I had no complaints. read more

In town for a friend's retirement event. Nestled in a small town in central PA where it looks like time stood given the backdrop, minus the huge hospital glaring behind the inn. Very Norman Rockwell-esque. Quaint, peaceful and neighborly. This inn and banquet center appear to be a modern facility with a rustic lodge feel. The adjoining banquet center was vey large and accommodated for a large crowd. The event I attended had a buffet style dinner with 2 salads, dinner rolls, vegetables and 3 meat choices, beef, chicken and seafood. For dessert, ice cream drizzled with chocolate and cake. I would give the food 4 stars. The was a cash bar which was nice and was never too crowded. Bartenders were very friendly. Had a couple drinks at the bar. It was relatively small so it became packed very quickly. If you worked the crow by chatting up lots of people I guess it would not be so bad as you would be constantly moving. The cocktail I ordered gets 3 stars. No frills or thrills. It was just okay. The great part about having a function here was the on the grounds hotel/inn. Large room with king size bed modestly decorated. I'd have to give the mattress 3 stars as it was not very comfortable however; enjoyed the multiple plush fluffy pillows. Overall, a cool place and an all in one lodging/event in the same location gets 2 thumbs up. read more

This hotel is right next to Geisinger Medical. Walking distance close. We had a king suite and it was large and very clean. Nice amenities. The bed was hard. Like sleeping on the floor hard. And the pillows were like rocks. Some people like hard mattresses and pillows; I am not one of them. That said, the staff is excellent. They go out of their way to make one's stay pleasurable. We stayed for 3 nights and aside from the hard bed, the stay was nice. Would I stay again? Hmmmm..........probably not. Now the restaurant at the Pine Barn Inn is another matter. Good service, good food. And the Seafood Buffet on Friday's is, according to my spouse, wonderful. read more

Definitely overpriced for the quality of the room. Mediocre at best. Poor customer service. The only positive is the location relative to the hospital, which is probably the reason they overprice the room so much. They take advantage of people who are there to see their ill loved one. We went to the restaurant, reviewed the menu and left instead of ordering. The prices were outrageous for the food offered. read more
