My last day at Moses Lake it was recommended to me to visit Pillar Rock Grill. Not going to lie, best meal of the trip was right here. Yes, it is off the beaten path and outside of the area where most of the restaurants seem to be located but it isn't that far. There is plenty of parking and the view of the golf course and all the squirrels made me pleased. My co-worker and I sat outside on the patio underneath a large umbrella. Our waitress was wonderful. She was engaging, attentive, friendly, and funny. All the employees wore masks and still I could easily pick up how each was feeling and acting despite the lack of the lower half of face to go off of. She provided us with paper menus that had a variety of sandwiches, salads, and wraps. I opted to go with a bowl of their crab bisque and their salmon and rice. I also ordered a glass of the raspberry lemonade. The lemonade was huge! I mean, that was the largest lemonade I have had in years! I ended up drinking a quarter of it and then pouring my water in it to lighten the sweetness. I prefer it not as sweet as this was, but it was very good. My only mistake was ordering both the bisque and salmon. It simply was too much food. The salmon was cooked perfectly and was roped with this tangy sauce that was delightful. But that bisque is where it's at. It was rich and creamy with a little bit of heat. The large chunks of crab meat was delightful. I can't stand vegetables and I found I didn't even think twice about them as I downed this bisque. While I was overly full I was also very happy.

Nice little golf course restaurant! It's beautiful on a sunny day. We had the Benedict and Corned beef hash. They were both good. The hash was more hash browns than a traditional corned beef hash, but the flavor was great!

When the wings showed up, I was highly disappointed. $15.50 for that?? My Monte cristo sandwich only cost me $13.00. Pillar Rock, y'all need to do better!

Fantastic brunch!! My mimosa was yummy, and my hubby said the coffee was really good, too! His chicken fried steak was so thick, and my breakfast burrito was full of thick chorizo! We were given a bonus biscuit from our attentive waiter, and now I know what I will be ordering next time, the Biscuits & Gravy!

I ate here for a work related function. I'm from out of the area and didn't know this was a restaurant at a golf club. I saw no sign or other advertising that would have let me know that this was a restaurant. The food was good; I had a corn meal crusted walleye that was smothered with an andouille sausage mix. Very tasty.

Nor is the state covered under the famous and most respected Michelin's Guide system. Face it, this state is not known for its food. Moses Lake is the anomaly to all this. Micheal's by the Lake is the surprisingly upstart. This is a much needed relief. The oasis in this culinary desert. We came as a large group to celebrate my in-law's birthday. They sat us down in a privet dinning room in the back. Most places you would think we would of been ignored and forgotten by the staff. At Michael's by the Lake we pretty much had our own wait staff. They were very friendly and attentive. The food was exquisite! Everything was done perfectly. Especially the mozzarella sticks. All in all, my family have nothing bad to say. So far, Michael's by the Bay is the best restaurant in Washington State!

I have seen cleaner bathrooms at no name truck stops on the interstate highway. Is this where the restraint staff is expected to wash up before preparing all of our meals?! After seeing this I m honestly concerned what the kitchen must look like.

They leaned a little sweet (expected with the fruit), but they were still really fun and flavorful. I was in the mood for something lighter and went with the California Salad. It was a huge portion, packed with chicken, blue cheese, and fresh toppings. Super crisp and satisfying. My mom ordered a cheeseburger, and it was massive! The bun looked fresh and the cheese was perfectly melted. It came with unlimited steak fries, and when she asked for them extra crispy, the waiter brought them right out -- no problem. If you're looking for a solid burger with good drinks and friendly service, I definitely recommend Rock Top!

When I quietly brought the issue up to management, the server really didn't seem to care. Buyer beware. Please see the article release below. This is not the first time they have had fairly significant health safety violations. MOSES LAKE - A recent food safety inspection at Sumo Hibachi & Sushi in Moses Lake resulted in a score of 76, with multiple violations noted by inspectors from the Grant County Health District. The routine inspection, conducted April 15, 2026, identified several food safety concerns, including improper cooling procedures and temperature control issues that inspectors said could increase the risk of foodborne illness. Among the most serious violations, inspectors observed prepackaged noodles at 90 degrees stored in a walk-in cooler after being heat-treated but still sealed in packaging, preventing proper cooling. The report notes this "creates conditions favorable for the growth of harmful pathogens," and the noodles were voluntarily discarded during the inspection. Inspectors also found cooked eel being stored at room temperature--approximately 70 degrees--instead of being held at safe cold temperatures of 41 degrees or below. The report warned that improper storage of time/temperature control for safety (TCS) foods can lead to rapid bacterial growth and potential foodborne illness. Additional violations included missing date markings on salmon and beef removed from original packaging, incomplete parasite destruction records for certain fish, and improper storage of utensils, including tongs submerged in food. Staffing and certification issues were also noted. Following a change in management, inspectors found no employee with a certified food protection manager credential, which is required. In addition, one worker was found to have an invalid food worker card. According to the inspection report, several issues were corrected on-site, including the disposal of unsafe food and proper storage of utensils. Other violations were given correction deadlines, and a follow-up inspection has been scheduled for May 5, 2026. The health district emphasized proper cooling procedures in its report, stating that cooked foods must be cooled from 135 degrees to 70 degrees within two hours and then to 41 degrees or below within a total of six hours to prevent bacterial growth. Inspection records show this is not the first time the establishment has faced issues. Previous routine inspections scored 65 in September 2025 and 45 in February 2025, with follow-up inspections conducted after each.
