I've done all kinds of exercise programs: yoga, Bikram's yoga, land aerobics, water aerobics, tai…read morechi, Feldenkrais Method, and more. Oddly, I never tried Pilates. Well, I hit the jackpot with this studio recommended by one of my good friends. I've had Amanda and Doug, both excellent! Doug shines amongst the brightest in terms of the many instructors and trainers that I've had. He's the only person aside from my doctor that can accurately describe what chronic fatigue feels like. That is simply amazing considering he doesn't have the condition himself (that I know of). His empathy is genuine, not superficial. In spite of all the instructors I've had, I've learned more from Doug in two sessions about managing my energy than anyone else. My session today was very seriously life-changing. When I walked out of that studio today, I had more hope for the future than I've had in years. Instead of being fearful of physical decline and inability to do things, I felt like I had a legitimate, sustainable way to increase and maintain my energy. I am genuinely grateful that I found Simply Pilates and am looking forward to continuing there. Highly recommended! Note: During my first visit, Amanda explained that they do Classic Pilates, not Contemporary Pilates. That means they do exercises created by Joseph Pilates without modifications. A distinction like that is important to me because form is very important to me and I know I'm learning something that can be replicated if I go to studios in other states or countries.

I booked a private session for a group of 7 after calling multiple studios in the area. CA Yoga…read moreBarre had great reviews, offered plenty of amenities, and easy parking (free lot in the back), plus the cost of a private session was very reasonable, so I thought, "let's do it!" There was also mats and all equipment provided, which made it easy for a group traveling from all out of town. There are also showers (unheard of for boutique barre studios I learned) and a large locker room. However, no towels, so we ended up not using the showers. Courtney (the owner) was very friendly upon meeting her. She was kind and allowed us to semi decorate the studio for our occasion (simple balloons). We chose the barre option when asked to choose between yoga or barre. She first assessed the average experience of the group and I believe the modified the exercises to fit the needs of the group. There was adequate stretch between each series. Maybe one piece of constructive feedback is for hands-on adjustments (or verbal cues) since not everyone in the group knew what they were doing the entire time, but that's one small point out of what was a very wonderful experience. Everyone had a good time and said the workout was enjoyable. Would recommend CA Yoga Barre, at least for the private session, for those looking for an extra something for their programming!

Perfectly located in the university area across from Gammage Auditorium. Sharla gives very exact cueing and very detailed word pictures to help you understand the moves she teaches. She is also great at giving personal attention, (you feel like the class is just for you, even if there are others present!) I have developed such a strong core with her! Pilates has really helped smooth out my muscle as well as celulite. (the mat classes can be very challenging! and the reformer classes I find to be more theraputic than anything) Not only does she teach pilates, but she will be offering TRX classes, as well as booty bar (which btw, not too many people teach this in Az yet....but wait, it will be the next big thing!) She also offers body rolling classes, which is where you roll your muscles out on small balls....the effects are amazing! Those classes have really helped me with some shoulder issues I've had. It's basically like a deep tissue massage that you give to yourself. I'm so happy that even more people will now have the opportunity to taught by one of the best Pilates instructors in this area!

I've been to many places for massage however my therapist was so extremely educated with the musular system she even found knots that I didn't even know I had in my shoulders and back. She was worked the areas that I needed and was able to release knots right on the table! She was seriously spectacular! Her playlist was soft and relaxing, which is an important key to any massage because I just melted into the table. Once I was done spending time with her, I was off to get a facial (yes, they even offer facials at the center!) Melissa was my aesthetician was extremely friendly. I came to Rachel at a time in my life when I needed workout training, structure and accountability and Rachel has provided all of that and then some within this year. I can count on one hand how many training sessions that I was unable to make within a year because Rachel made my training fun and do-able. I'm also amazed at the stamina that I now have and the things that I'm now able to do with my body that I wasn't able to do when I first started. My back, ankles and knees no longer hurt me and give me problems. My legs and arms are physically stronger and allows me to do day to day functions without any struggle or pain. One of the many things that I appreciate with Rachel as a trainer is her knowledge and ability to assess and customize the perfect training as well as nutrition plan for you; all trainers do not know nutrition as well as training and believe me good nutrition is 80% of weight loss and healthy living. It is also comforting to know that I am not just another paying customer in a group of hourly/daily trainees but that Rachel has actually sat down and assessed my daily/weekly workout plan before I start my weekly training, she watches me to ensure that I am doing the exercises or using the machines correctly for my safety and to overall ensure that I meet the training goals that we discussed at the onset of our training relationship. If you are looking for that one in a million knowledgeable, punctual, reliable and experienced trainer you should definitely give Rachel a try, I promise you won't regret it and I'm not one that is so easily impressed.
