I've been coming to Pike for since shortly after they opened but less so since we moved to Denver NC. For some nostalgic reason, I wanted to get a Christmas Cactus this year. My Grandmother had then as did my Mother and others in the family. Saw them back in late summer at Mike's Growers Outlet in Denver but they were very small. They told me to come back later in the year which I did on Sunday but they had sold out of the larger one and only very small ones left. They suggested Denver Produce but they did not have any of any size but the did say that Ingle's Supermarket had had them but were sold out of the hanging basket size. Tries a different Ingles on the way home in Westport but they did not have any as well. Backing up a day, on Saturday, Brawley Nursery had advertised on Facebook with accompanying photos of some beautiful plants. The back tire on my Audi had picked up a nail so had a late start and did not get there till 1:20 and they close at 1:00 pm on Saturday. They later posted on FaceBook that they still had plenty and they would be available when they opened on Monday at 8:30. 8:30 came and went and they did not open at least while I was there. It was just me and another employee and we were both locked out looking through over the gate. Went online to see if Pike had them but from the way the adv ready, you could order them and they would be ready in 2 to 3 days. Another words, it sounds like they are representing a 3-rd. party. Placed an order yesterday afternoon and got an email in less that an hour that my order was ready. In other words, they had them in stock and I could come by and pick it up because they were open till 6PM. Told them we would pick it up on Tuesday if that was OK so over lunch today, drove over and picked up a beautiful bright red Christmas Cactus. It currently sitting on a coffee table in my living room and I am very happy with my purchase. read more

Flowers and shrub always look for vibrant I'm color and well nourished. They are always well positioned and easy to access. Initially, I felt overlooked. I couldn't get anyone to come over to help me; but later I realized it was because they were all intentionally helping customers. When Tammy came over after seeing me struggle she offered to help and we walked and walked until I was able to get what I needed and not get overwhelmed. There's lots of items to choose from. Staff helps you create the look you want. Come with picture or images of your yard or work space and they can work in any budget. I'll definitely return again and again until my project is complete. Great assortment of plants, nothing too exotic, but super friendly and knowledgeable staff, which was great because I've been gardening for years, but had just moved to the area (a change of 3 hardiness zones) so appreciated the local expertise. Prices were a little high, but not unreasonable for non-big box store, and I would still go back because of the helpful staff. read more

What a delightful secluded garden, the price ranges from the pricey side but they do seem like they take good care of every plant in the nursery, I was amazed by all of the beauty of this place. My husband and I noticed that Pike opened before their April 26 grand opening date, and sstopped by to get a few plants. They are located on Statesville Road, just north of Home Depot and 131 Main. We had a Pike near us when we lived in Smyrna, GA, and loved the selection and quality of their plants. This store is similar. It has an open layout, with plenty of room to browse their selection. Their plants are well-marked to find exactly what you need. They also have a lot of staff around to offer assistance or give you suggestions. I think Pike will definitely give the other nearby gardening centers some great competition. We'll definitely return! read more

What a new little gem in Huntersville. Being a plant person with a "black thumb" I can always appreciate a plant place with a guarantee on their live plants. The workers are friendly, and the store is pretty well laid out. It's not the biggest nursery but it's definitely perfect for Huntersville! I've been in a few times for this and that and found most everything I needed and more than a few that I don't think I'll ever be able to justify. My wanderings have been mainly that; walk around a bit looking at all the pretties until someone asks how they can help -- which doesn't usually take too long. We go off to find the desired item and then I make my way back to the register looking at a whole different set of flowers and shrubs and decorations... I have to bring my lovely bride down for a look see so we can have a go at getting the front yard spruced up. Pike is a very good full service nursery so you might spend a couple dollars more here than some other places, but for those couple dollars you have access to seasoned gardeners and trained professionals for advice and support. And when you're finished planting or want to fancy it up there's a nice selection of furniture and furnishings: chairs, swings, hanging baskets, birding supplies, and bits of whimsy and sparkle to brighten up your day. Pike Nurseries has pretty much everything you'll need to satisfy your outdoor desires if you've got the resources or patience, the choice is yours. read more

What do you expect from a plant nursery? I know I want ample selection, good prices, quality products, and helpful staff--all of which I found at Pikes today. The facility is organized very well. I really appreciate the direction you receive from something as simple as signage (i.e. sun perennials vs. shade perennials.) The selection is very good, and I really like that you can walk through every area of the store and know exactly what you are looking at such as roses, ground cover, shrubs and bushes, or herbs/vegetables. They have a limited selection of gardening tools such as shovels, rakes, etc. There are also some patio furniture selections through the store. What I loved was the succulent section. Beautifully done. They also carry a wide variety of seeds for starting your own plants. Their selection of fertilizer and soil was decent but not outstanding. I was really impressed by all of the fountains and garden accessories that you can find there such as bird baths and glass ornaments. It's the punches of color and ornate details that really help these items stand out. Great selection. Overall, the prices are a little bit higher than your big box store (especially considering they use Monrovia like others.) I would say this nursery is very nice, but I'm not sure that I would give up the convenience of my home improvement stores. I will be back here, though. I enjoyed the variety and ease of shopping so much! read more

I love the environment and eclectic selection of everyday as well as exotic plants and unique decor. The layout is easy to navigate and staff is friendly and eager to help. You may pay a little more than at a Lowes but Pike is superior. Free popcorn and coffee makes easy to stay awhile. read more

No matter who I ask a question to about care for specific plants or locations of products, each employee has been extremely knowledgeable and willing to stop whatever they're doing to help me.
