He was responsive, reliable, flexible and professional through every step of the process. Derek truly has the gifts of imagination, creativity and passion all perfectly blended with charm, wit and most of all an incredible ability to listen to what you want and interpret and transform it into breathtaking memories. We couldn't be more pleased with the abundance of photos, at a very competitive price, all with the convenience of online viewing and ordering! We would put Skewed Patella at the top of our list for ANY future event...hands down.

Derek Parks (Skewed Patella) photographed our wedding last year. Our day was far from typical, as…read morewe experienced an unprecedented "derecho" storm which left us without power for our ceremony and reception. We had no AC, no lights, no music, no running water, no showers and no flushing toilets (well water!) Derek braved the 100+ degree heat and faced the day's many challenges with a positive "can-do" attitude. He went about his work in a quiet, unobtrusive manner and provided an honest and natural representation of the day's events. Derek must have encountered all sorts of obstacles with lighting (or lack thereof), excessive heat, etc. However, he was unflappable and completely professional, allowing the happy couple to remain blissfully unaware and to simply enjoy the day. We were so impressed and delighted when we saw our photos, because Derek managed to capture all the joy and wackiness of our unusual day and created something wonderful! Our wedding day was unforgettable, and we will treasure our photographs and the memories they inspire forever. Two enthusiastic thumbs up for Skewed Patella!

You should be aware that the owner (Mary) is not the photographer. She has no knowledge of, or…read morecontrol over, the photographer's work. I cannot recommend this photographer. I paid $450 for professional photography for my daughter's first birthday, a once-in-a-lifetime celebration that cost over $7,000. I trusted this photographer to capture such a special occasion, but the final gallery was extremely disappointing. Many of the photos were taken from low, unflattering angles, had poor composition, or were unnecessarily repetitive. Several important moments were either missed or not captured well. What was even more disappointing was the response afterward. When I raised my concerns, the photographer claimed that the angles had been "edited to eye level." That explanation made little sense. While editing can adjust exposure, color, and cropping, it generally cannot change the original camera angle or perspective. A photo taken from a low angle cannot realistically be transformed into an eye-level shot through editing alone. The photographer also failed to avoid obvious reflections in people's eyeglasses. Can you imagine paying $450 for professional photos, only to receive images in which bright white glare obscures people's eyes and faces? Instead of acknowledging the problems or offering a reasonable solution, Mary, the owner, refused to take responsibility or provide a refund. This was my daughter's once-in-a-lifetime first birthday, and after spending over $7,000 on the celebration, I expected professional-quality photographs that would preserve those memories. Unfortunately, both the quality of the photographs and the customer service fell far below my expectations.

Mary was exceptional to work with -- she was highly responsive, helpful, and ensured great communication, which was vital given our quick turnaround. Kevin was also wonderful. He had excellent communication to understand what we were looking for and captured the event beautifully (at two different locations), all while being incredibly empathetic and kind. His professional and respectful approach made us feel very comfortable during a difficult time. Many thanks to Lasting Impressions Photography for delivering high-quality photos for our family that we will cherish.

After doing some online research and talking with a few photographers I decided to work with Stacey. We met in Old Town Alexandria one Saturday afternoon in October. I was nervous at first but shortly into our photo session I felt at ease as Stacey is friendly, professional and fun, not to mention amazing at what she does! She was also great with our greyhound and got some adorable shots of him. Stacey has a wonderful eye for light and color and found a lot of unique backgrounds for our photos. Our online gallery was available after about a week and a half and the results were fantastic! Soon after, Stacey scheduled a free consultation with us to view all our photos on the large computer screen that she has and to help us pick out which prints and framing options we wanted to put up in our home. She even helped us decide how best to place the photos on the wall. We received all our prints last week and have gotten our framed prints up on the wall, we couldn't be happier! If we were staying in the area I would absolutely work with Stacey again in the future.

I moderated a panel last week and a panelist I was being introduced to said, "yes, the woman with the most amazing head shot." Yesterday morning we did our 5th(!) family mini session shoot with Stacey in a garden next to the Capitol. It's wonderful to get these beautiful shots of our children growing up -- and have some shots with me that I love that aren't selfies! Years ago Stacey took an iconic (among our family and friends) photo of my son sulking off to the left of the Washington monument when my husband and I were were standing to the right smiling while pregnant with our daughter. That same day Stacey was able to joke around with our son and get the best shots of him smiling and enjoying himself. Our daughter enjoys the shoots just as much. Thank you, Stacey!

FillmanFoto is the best of the best. You will most certainly get a deal when booking with Sarah,…read morebecause her rates are outrageously reasonable considering the amazing pictures she will take for you. Her pictures are always sharp and well-staged (while still looking natural), and every person and scene looks the best it possibly could. Sarah is a pro at catching a person, animal, or scene at just the right moment so that it looks magical, and her editing is such so that it doesn't look fake. Most important (to me, anyway), Sarah has a professional and friendly demeanor that makes you at ease right from the start, so that you don't feel uncomfortable being in front of a camera for hours at a time. I worked with Sarah when she shot boudoir shots of me - this could have been very awkward, but instead I forgot she was even taking pictures because she was so professional. The pictures turned out beyond beautifully, she was quick in editing them, and she brought all of her own equipment so that I felt comfortable shooting in my own home. I have recommended FillmanFoto to everyone I know, and she has taken stunning pictures for them as well (regardless of the event and the people in the shots). I can't wait to recruit her for my engagement and wedding shoots!
