Another young woman at the front desk continued to make rude remarks without giving my mother a chance to speak. It's extremely disappointing and discouraging to witness staff members show such little care or compassion for a patient's well-being. Although I am a patient of Dr. Knafo, I've only spoken to her 3 of the minimum 9 times I had appointments. The other visits I was seen by two other female doctors. Now this isn't a big issue if you are going for smaller concerns like check ups and well woman exams but I had a continuous stomach issue that the lack of consistency in visits very negatively effected. I ran the same tests multiple times and explained the same symptoms/reactions to the doctors each visit and we ran in circles. I understand this is a family practice and not a specialist, but at some point it's up to the doctors to admit they don't know and refer me to someone else. It took a year of this before I broke down crying and begged for them to refer me. I would like to commend Dr. Knafo on what she is TRYING to do. When I did get to meet with her she was very caring and serious about my mental health. ( I have anxiety and depression ) Although, I believe this effected her judgement a little too much, I often felt like she wouldn't take my other physical health concerns seriously until I started taking medication as she strongly urged for me to start taking lexipro whenever I saw her. I've been doing well with my mental health, and would often express to her the reason behind my being so wound up and on the verge of tears in her office is because I was a 19 year old college student battling a mystery issue and running the same tests every visit. I visited Legacy Community Healthcare in Montrose twice for testing and eligibility (I am currently unemployed with zero income). After testing hiv negative the second time, I went downstairs to the Pharmacy at Legacy to see if I could get my Prep or a starter round of 10 pills. I was stopped at the reception desk and told that they do not do it that way here and I had to pay $20.00 to go into the pharmacy. I said that I did not have it since I have only $18.00 in my bank account . I was told to call Gilead pharmaceuticals myself to make sure everything had went through ok and that I would bereceiving my meds by FedEx or picking them up at a pharmacy near where I live For 2 weeks I have called Gilead myself and they have all of my previous records ,but, have received NO information from Legacy Healthcare in Montrose. Gilead has called Legacy with me on the line for a conference call and we continuously get answering machines to leave contact information and they will get back to us. It is going on one month and neither Gilead or I have received any calls from anyone at Legacy Healthcare in Montrose. However, I did receive a text message from Ambetter insurance billing saying that I owe $64.00+ . WHAT? It's been a month and no one has returned any calls to Gilead Pharmaceuticals or me and I have received absolutely NO Prep, and they want me to pay their bill? Gilead has sent me the enrollment form themselves and reached out again to Legacy HC Montrose and has received NO response. She takes notes in your patient file so she can engage in conversation during the few minutes you have with her. If you don't get to see her, she's staffed her office with a few other doctors. It's like she has them admit headshots with their resume because the entire staff is gorgeous. Decor is nice and personal. There's portraits of children/families all over the office. Be prepared to pay for parking in the attached garage. UNLESS... you want to park over at Hermann Park and take a nice 1 mile walk to the office.

She never hurries me or makes me feel like she doesn't want to see me. I like the fact that all tests are run in the building, so there is no running all over town for blood work, X Rays and such. I am so glad that a friend recommended her to me. She no longer takes new medicare patients. Another huge plus for me is that she is always on time. I have never had to wait more than 5 minutes after my appointment time. The only negative aspect is that you have to pay for parking. This makes me feel like the Group is money hunger.
