Oh my - delicious. My go to was always Laduree but after having a Pierre Herme macaron I'm totally sold. Buttery caramel...orange blossom...oriental themes...no matter what you choose the macarons from Pierre Herme are delicate and you can taste how fresh the ingredients are. Definitely come here if you're a macaron lover. Even if you're not, try Pierre Herme! You might just be converted!

In the world of macarons, Pierre Hermé's creations would most definitely make the roster for the all-star team. If I had to pick an MLB player as a comparison, I would say that Pierre Hermé is a little bit like Justin Verlander: one of the best in the business with numerous accolades and distinctions on his resumé whose offerings come at you hard and heavy with no holding back. Like a Justin Verlander fastball, Pierre Hermé's macarons are bold and packed with a ferocious intensity, which is to say that the macarons are strongly flavored with seemingly audacious flavor combinations. Green Asparagus and Hazelnut Oil? Fresh Mint and Sweet Pea? Color me intrigued. I ended up buying a box of seven. Here are my thoughts: Dark Chocolate: So rich and decadent that it almost tastes like a truffle, especially given the fact that there is so much filling. The stuff of chocolate lovers' dreams. Apricot and Pistachio: I was surprised by how much I enjoyed this one. A very nice macaron with a great pistachio filling, this was one of my favorites. Fresh Mint and Sweet Peas: Light and refreshing. I think there were actually chunks of pea mixed in with the filling. And your eyes are not deceiving you, the top and bottom cookies are not the same color. Salted-Butter Caramel: One of my two favorites. It was just so ridiculously smooth and buttery with a luxurious richness to it. A bit of saltiness helped to round out the flavor. Rose and Rose Petals: The lone disappointment. I found it to be perfumy and too artificial-tasting. Green Asparagus and Hazelnut Oil: I didn't really taste the asparagus, as the hazelnut oil was quite overpowering, but this was still a pretty tasty macaron. Olive Oil and Vanilla: The second of my two favorites, this macaron offered a nice balance between the silky olive oil flavor and the warm vanilla. Very nice. Texture-wise, these little guys are supposedly not as crisp as other macarons, but I found the texture to be quite good. The cookie:filling ratio is decidedly skewed towards the filling in Pierre Hermé's macarons, and, with the exception of the Rose and Rose Petal macaron, flavors were strong and bold. All in all, I was quite pleased with my first taste of Pierre Hermé's macarons. While they are certainly not cheap (£1.80/macaron or £80/kg), they are worth a splurge if you are craving some well-made, intensely flavored macarons. Pierre Hermé certainly deserves all of the praise he has received for his macarons, and I am really eager to try out his other pastries when I head over to Paris in a couple of weeks. As the Justin Verlander of the pastry and macaron world, Pierre Hermé truly stands out and demonstrates a mastery of his craft that sets himself apart from his peers.

Horrible. I would give zero stars if I could. I tried a passion fruit and milk chocolate macaron, which sounded and looked very promising, but it tasted like a dry, stale military biscuit. Not to mention the hefty 2 pound price tag for a single measley macaron. It doesn't help that the staff is as snooty as ever. The only selling point of this place is the impressive macaron display, clearly sculpted by a professional. I think the problem is that by the time the professional is done arranging the macarons, they're stale beyond gustatory recognition.

I had no interest in Cadbury and came across articles recommending this luxury chocolate brand, so…read morewe ventured to this location out of only three. A vast range of chocolates and flavors could be found. The print on the packaging was quite distinct. ----- Espresso Shots Gift Tin: little solid chocolate drops shaped like coffee beans and flavored with rich roasted coffee (£16.95). Certainly powerful in coffee taste and yet not too bitter. Chocolate consistency was smooth with a tiny hint of grittiness from the ground coffee beans. Quality was good and best to eat a couple at a time. ----- Milkshake: choose your ice cream flavor. Add whipped cream (optional) (£5.95). My brother picked their one of their best sellers: Dark Chocolate ice cream flavor, made from a blend of three types of imported Dutch Cocoa. He thought it was good, although was too rich for him to finish. Toppings like gold sugar, rose petals, and wafer thin piece can be added at an extra cost. ----- The Belgravia store is along Motcomb Street lined with independent boutiques and restaurants. A couple of tables are outside in addition to indoor seating.

Rocco is a quaint little store/cafe located in the upscale residential part of Belgravia. They carry an eclectic collection of unique flavors of chocolates such as earl grey, scrumptious peach, almond cardamon coffee marzipan, award-winning Persian pistachio and Tawny Fig, etc. The prices are pretty reasonable for handmade gourmet chocolate. I am not a connoisseur of chocolate; but they wife seemed to really enjoy them.

Beautiful coffee shop Highly recommended…read more Good coffee Great service They serve pastries and a huge selection of chocolate. In the middle of the City of London is a great place to unwind

I have to say, I'm pretty impressed with not only how this place has survived over the years, but…read moreevolved into a full-blown sit-down café, complete with sweets and treats to compliment their strong Greek coffee. They even have the fanciest gift boxes you've ever seen outside of Fortnum & Mason. Despite once having been solely a chocolate shop, the interior gives off some posh vibes that invite you to stay awhile. Weather permitting, they also have outdoor seating for some ultimate people-watching. The coffee itself could use some improvement, but overall, it isn't terrible. They serve it with a side of chocolates, so you could chew on the sweet merchandise to cut through the bitterness of the overly-roasted java. Service isn't always the fastest if you're sitting down to eat or drink, but it's more of a "come in and stay awhile" kind of place, anyway. If you are coming in to stay a while, however, expect to pay a lot more than the price of your coffee. My £3.60 oat flat white somehow turned into £6.36 when I got my bill. Considering everything you're getting in one stop, as well as the touristy area it's in, however, you could do worse. They even have a washroom, which - if you're familiar with this part of town - can be a Godsend.

I went to a chocolate tasting event here where we tried a small number of their chocolates. Mostly…read morewe were introduced to their wide range of chocolate bars which range from a milk chocolate through to a very tasty dark chocolate. They say not to pay attention to the cocoa content and rather to the flavor. Tucked away at the back of the chocolate hall or the front depending on how you enter it the chocolate counter can too easily be lost in the cacophony of chocolates assaulting your senses. Make sure you find it though because there's lots to recommend it! With a unique set of flavours divided into themes, this chocolate is delicate and quite pleasant. It's going to be different from anything you'll find elsewhere and you'll be appreciated no matter what you select. The easiest option rather than be overwhelmed by the selection is to go for a themed box. The Kaori box is going to make you the star of any party with a selection of very different flavours you can eat alone or dip in to another flavour to enjoy. I had the opportunity to sample this at my leisure along with a few chocolates and I can report back that while not all of the box of Kaori was quite to my taste, things that I did not think were to my taste were not as bad as I thought. The balance is well done here and the Kalamansi can be used like glue so dip your stick in there before your choice of Orange and Cocoa Nibs or Matcha Green Tea and Poppy Seeds power to coat the outside. It did take some getting used to but for a gift or at a party, this would be superb. While we did sample most of the chocolate bars we ran out of time to try much else as Harrods was closing! Of the few chocolates I sampled, the white was predictably sweet but the dark pleasantly mild. There was not as much body to the dark as I have become used to but hey I did enjoy it nonetheless. The milk was too sweet for me but many people will find this the perfect milk chocolate as it mirrors more closely the flavour and sweetness many expect in a milk chocolate. All in all a fantastic event and a great chocolate so quick go grab yourself some!

There are ranges of Galler chocolate specifically created for lactose intolerance and diabetes and if you're shopping for the choccie lover who has everything, look no further. The Kaori range consists of 6 ganache pencils and 3 'dips', meaning that 54 combinations are possible, all for a very reasonable £14.50. The Elementaires have floral, marine or 'volvanic' flavours and the tablets vary in taste according to the source of the cacao bean (Ecuador, Papua New Guinea) and cacao content. The prices vary greatly so you can find a treat to fit every wallet. Go at your peril.
