I was also nervous how my kiddo would handle this situation. She was 5 and very excited but also very anxious. James was extraordinary with her. He spoke to her directly but kindly. He didn't sugar coat what the steps were but kindly spoke to my nervous 5 year old about what was going to be happening step after step. She did so well and was SO proud of her ears. Piercing price waaayyyy too expensive for me, I should've just said no once I found out how much it was... but my piercer is in FL and this one had good reviews so I was like okay whatevs. BUT I have never, NEVER paid so much for an ear piercing, even at the priciest piercing place I've been to. 45$ are you F***ING KIDDING ME. "CoVID related," but still. Even high nostril piercings I got I only paid 35 each for. During CoVID. It's absolutely *astounding.* Not really happy with the placement of my piercing either. I mean I trust piercers to do what they do, but ik how I wanted mine; the result doesn't match my vision and I would just take it out, but ik I can get more to fix how it looks so it's fine whatever and also I'm not about to waste the 50$ I can't even believe I paid for this ear hole. Not in a decade of piercing shops have I ever EVER seen prices like that. The alternative jewelry I got was also too expensive for me - justified by CoVID, "of course," but it's literally JUST plain stainless steel. No gems, no extra snaz, just HQ metal *not* from China. K cool. NOTE: Don't justify the price with quality because a higher price does NOT *necessarily* guarantee better piercings/experience. My shop in Tampa is definitely superior (no offense) with MUCH better jewelry options, phenomenally educated piercers and not as pricey EVEN during CoVID. Forreal THE best I've experienced, only got a piercing today because I don't want to wait another x months for it; Tampa lead piercer is 30 years strong, I'd like to meet one that can say that. Just saying there's nothing special about this place, it's just expensive and not low quality, plain boring lame jewelry. Again no offense, but my thoughts. Went by on Saturday 3/15 to get dermal piercing jewelry changed out. I had two I wanted to change the jewelry on, one on my wrist and one behind my ear. I'd intended to get my other wrist and other side of my neck done as well. After calling to confirm this could be done, when I arrive I'm told "Oops, sorry we're out" so he couldn't do the piercing. Gee buddy, don't ya think when I called you could have checked first?? I was not happy and as I was about to leave, he said he would at least swap out my jewelry for me, free of charge. Upon looking at the one behind my ear he said he wouldn't touch it. Said it was super infected! Freaked me out!! He did agree to change the jewelry on my wrist one. That was a nightmare. He couldn't get the jewelry off. He tried to twist off with his fingers. Then he tried with a tool. Then he tried yanking HARD two times before finally giving up. Here's the kicker. I headed straight to another dermal piercing shop, and the woman got it off EASY CHEESY!!!!!!!!!! Thanks to this idiot apparently turning it the wrong way, my wrist was swollen for two days (4 inch area) and BRUISED! Awful experience. Oh AND fyi, the woman who was able to get the jewelry off said the one behind my ear was a bit tender looking but certainly not infected. She replaced both of my dermal piercing jewelry AND was able to perform the new dermal piercings I was hoping to get. I will never return to Piercing Perfection and I hope others read this review and think twice. read more

I went two months ago and got my nose pierced and has a wonderful experience. This past weekend I came by there to get a ring since ample time had passed for my nose to heal. Went by FRIDAY the 13th during business hours. No one was there. No sign, no warning nothing. Found their Facebook page and asked if they would be open the next day. They said yes until 4pm. Went Saturday at 1PM and surprise NO ONE WAS FREAKING THERE. I called their number multiple times no answer. Afterwards I went to my original Facebook post and let hem know that I did come by and I got no reply. No apology nothing. There was no announcement on their page about being absent either. There's nothing I dislike more than having my time wasted. Want to get pierced? Call first. Or just hope they feel like operating a business that day. Gladly I was able to go to another business on Rivers Ave and they were more than willing to work and change my piercing out. read more

The actual person piercing (Katie) was professional and informative. The manager however, was NOT! Before the COVID-!9 shut down, I got my nose pierced. Due to the shut down, I could not attend my follow up appointment to get my piercing looked at, etc. My nose ended up getting an infection! I had no choice but to remove the piercing myself, which resulted in my piercing closing up. I called the manager, in hopes of getting my nose re-pierced (free of charge), once restrictions are lifted. HE OUT-RIGHT REFUSED and was completely non-sympathetic that I had waited YEARS, to get a piercing that cost me $101, only to get what looks like a permanent pimple! I have another welt-looking bump in addition, that I will have to see the doctor for, leading to me paying MORE in medical bills! He also refused a refund! I am in shock of the poor quality in customer service! It's just a no-brainer to take care of your customers! The likely-hood of me purchasing more jewelry, referring, possibly paying to get more piercings would have been more profitable than being greedy and risking a LAWSUIT! read more

I used to use a different place in Charleston for all of my piercings. They weren't bad at all, but the difference is that James actually makes sure to take care of his work. He'll pierce you (for a great price) and then set up a follow up appointment 2 weeks later to check on the piercing and assess any issues (or any questions) you might have. I loved my regular shop, but after seeing James, I'm glad I took the chance by going to him. I would recommend him always and he will def be the only place I go for piercings from now on. read more

James is a pleasure to work with. Professional, sincere and great at his craft are some words I would use to describe him. He has very thorough knowledge and lots of experience. I have three piercings by him and everything has always gone very smoothly. His shop is clean. He is great about reassuring you and discussing your concerns before proceeding. He's the only piercer I've been to in the Charleston area, but I don't see any reason to look any further. I've been to his shop about 6 times for various reasons and he has never been anything but courteous and attentive and everything has always been fine. I got my tragus pierced by the local shop apprentice, who seemed shy and very nervous. The initial piercing went fine however after a couple weeks the piercing became irritated and the shop offered to change my earring. This seemed like a great idea until the apprentice placed an 18g earring into my tragus when it was originally was pierced with a 16g. When i noticed the mistake i tried to tell her that the earring was the wrong size, instead of listening to me she decided to argue and insist that what she put in my tragus was the "right" size. I ended up having to go to another shop a couple weeks later to have an actual 16g earring put in place for my piercing to heal. My point is, If you want a good piercing done at this shop request the owner or you'll end up having to spend more money in order to fix something that should have been corrected the first time. read more
