When I first walked in, I was taken aback by the amazing artwork that clearly, was all original works made by the artists themselves. I was greeted promptly with a free hug courtesy of Andrew Poss and my experience from there was everything I'd hoped my 48th tattoo would be. I was a little apprehensive to veer from my steady tattoo artist, Kenny Brown but Andrew did not disappoint. I decided on a traditional dragon. Paul really knocked it out of the park. after a quick consultation he had a badass design ready for me. Called in advance asking if they could do a small tattoo on my finger. Was told yes, walk in'd tim 5:00. It's 3:22. Upon arrival, I show them what I want which is literally 3 dots and 3 dashes. Then they LITERALLY told me and my boyfriend that I couldn't get one because I didn't already have arm tattoos. Meanwhile I'm wearing a sweater and they have no idea what I have under. Awful! Tried to get in touched with the guy on the shop he told me he should be there! He wasn't there and it happened twice, he was in another city he said sorry that I should be compensated for this..... Third try came to the shop, made a deposition of 100$. Then the week came it was tattoo time but my daughter got sick I had to cancel, did so 2 days before the sitting. Came back into the shop and the ppl were acting rude and I told them that I want to schedule a time and I already made a deposition. They said it was a while ago and if was asked if I wanted to make another deposition of 100$ and schedule! I don't think so! This isn't about the money it's about how u handle your business and customers that's comes and see ya! I also ask to get my 100$ back and he said no! But ofc it feels like a theft hope this can help anybody! Save your money and go somewhere else! read more

Brenden did a globe piece on my girlfriends arm and it came out so well. He did some improv with texture lines across the continents that were shaded in from the outside to inside. Took him just over two hours and he was so good at keeping her calm and laughing to take her mind off the tattoo. A little while before father's day it was discussed and decided to get my father in law, Mike, a tattoo.. everyone chipped in and we went to get him a gift certificate at Charleston tattoo company. We went here because we had previously been customers and always had a good experience. Well the dude there tells us "all the former artists are gone, it's just me now.. new management" I looked at some of his stuff online and it was good work of all types..I mean ALL TYPES! He sold himself on his Facebook as someone who can do ANYTHING.. so we proceeded to get the gift certificate and take it to the father's day celebration. Mike, who has always been really awesome towards me, busts his ass for his family, takes care of his friends and is generally all around a great guy who deserves to have something special, was really happy with this gift..he's been wanting to get a tattoo in honor of his sister who passed away.. he wanted a turtle because she always loved them. Those of us who have lost someone and want to honor them can totally get the feeling right? So Mike goes to the shop about a week later and wants to discuss the plan with the artist, Garret mallekoote (I think I spelled that right, either way it's on the Facebook page for Charleston tattoo company).. this dude, Garret, tells Mike something along the lines of "the color won't work on your skin and you have to pick something else cause I won't do this on you" about the image Mike has picked. Mike then pays the man $100 deposit to set up an appointment and is told to email another design to Garret's email address and they'll work on a design and set up an appointment. All that was around the first of july.. So.. July 10th after hearing nothing back from his email Mike tries to call the shop.. Garret's on vacation from the 9th to the 18th.. ok we all get that and all..we all need a break, no biggie.. The 22, almost a month since taking money this is where things stood.. Garret took $250 for a gift certificate to do what he sold as "any style tattoo, I can do" Told Mike not "hey man maybe we should think differently about design" but "NO, I WONT DO THAT" Mike paid a deposit for an appointment that hasn't even been acknowledged since the dude took even more money, $350 so far he's gotten and hasn't spoken to anyone for more than maybe 30 mins! Garret refuses a refund for any of this.. said mike can "pick something he can/will do or eat it on the money" Hasn't responded to the email he told Mike to send at all..not even a "busy BRB" kinda thing Kinds messed up right? Imagine this is you or someone you know dealing with this crap.. So yesterday I go see Garret..he basically told me several different things like "never got the email..I get 100 emails a day, can't respond to them all" see that story change there? "I can't do that type of tattoo" so I say "why do you show it on your Facebook if you can't do it" he says "his skin won't hold the color..it'll cost more than he wants to spend.. it's not my style..." And several other excuses about why he refused to discuss this particular idea with Mike. He called Mike a liar several times..saying he didn't email, didn't show back up when they had discussed him coming back (yet remember the email was about the appointment! The email he "never got") and so on.. So ya see where there's a lot of bs leaving this guy's mouth right? Especially since Mike had a witness, receipt and business cards with email address! So..this "professional" is holding Mike's $350 and basically refusing to do anything unless it's what he wants to do.. meanwhile he's trying to establish his business, taking new clients and probably doing this to others as well.. taking money, not providing services.. pretty crappy! So I'm asking anyone willing to do so..please share this story, leave reviews and comments of what you think on here, the Facebook page for CHARLESTON TATTOO COMPANY and anywhere else you can think of.. Google, Yelp (if that still exists, lol) etc.. This man should NOT be selling things he won't do as stuff he can, refusing to do what is asked of him once he's taken the money and ignoring people who have paid for his service then bashing the person they've done wrong by saying they're lying!! Not horrible at tattooing, but the guy who I worked with was very unprofessional. I went in with a design that I had drawn of an elephant with a lotus flower and he suggested that instead I just get the Ganesh, can you get more ignorant? Definitely don't recommend this place. read more
