We got close and Waze had us make a turn on Harris street and my wife panicked. It did not look like a journey meant for us. I proceeded to our destination and the parking lot was packed. We walked in and were greeted and seated. It was a hot day and it was open air seating. It took our bodies about 15 minutes to adjust, and become comfortable. Our server was Edward aka Bubba. He was very personable, knowledgeable, and efficient. We ordered the fried pickles as an appetizer, and were given a very generous portion. Bubba also added a complimentary crawfish and grits dish that was awesome. My wife ordered the fried catfish , and ordered the blackened Mahi. Both dishes were prepared to perfection, and presented tastefully. We received our order in a very reasonable time. We wanted dessert but they were out. Check this out though, when they do have dessert it is on the house. At Pop's Place the prices are very fair, the portions are over the top, and the service was on point and very hospitable. The restaurant is large and open but still has a definite diner vibe. And the food is fantastic. We shared a crayfish poboy and a catfish basket (both with fries). Both were excellent. The fries were only single-fried, but were cut thick enough that they tasted good (especially when dipped in there positively delicious homemade ranch... seriously, all the World Cup tourists who've fallen in love with ranch need to find this spot). We'll definitely be returning as we pass through Texarkana fairly regularly going to visit relatives in AR. All you need to do to get an idea is check out the weekly dessert specials (usually some amazing, mind-blowing concoction of a cheesecake).
