Despite the lack of happenings here you can find some food and drink stops including Starbucks. Also for United club members there is a club. Luggage came out in a decent amount of time. Rental car garage is right across the street so no bus is needed! The car rental center looks new. Don't forget when you leave, you have to go through Agriculture security.

I had dropped or left my wallet accidentally there, in search of the Uber pick-up spots which were located elsewhere. Needless to say the security in the downstairs arrivals areas weren't so helpful and they kept telling me to talk to and refer to another person inside and outside. Nobody actually assisted me with searching for my lost/ stolen wallet. Finally I talked with a Officer in the area, who took down the description of my lost item and gave me their "lost & found" number. Today (09/29/2026) I come to give a huge shout-out and my biggest gratitude and THANK YOU to the supervisor/ worker with the Hawaiian Airlines: Dani Dolan-Decker. She was persistent, determined, and genuine in ensuring that my wallet was returned to me. She said she noticed it at Gate A15 Terminal 1, somehow someone must've brought it upstairs. Dani called the USO and somehow got a hold of certain military personal based on my CAC and was able to get in contact through our tight-nit community to reach me and have me come to claim my wallet. I am forever blessed that Dani Dolan-Decker came to the rescue and ensured I was reunited with my wallet. ALL my cards were still there, my iD's, my CAC and my $173 were still inside my wallet when she handed it to me at the Airport.

We called to inquire about appointment times and the employee told us that the last tour leaves Waikiki at 4:30 p.m. They do not have their own designated parking lot so we opted to park at the Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center, while planning to eat dinner at one of the restaurants after this bus tour. It was a short easy walk to meet the air conditioned tour bus along Royal Hawaiian Ave. near the former DFS Galleria. Basically, you pay in advance on their website and just show up at the bus that's waiting curbside. The host greeted us and checked Rod's ticket confirmation/receipt before he showed us to the best seats on the bus (bigger windows). When all the ticket holders arrived and boarded the bus, we were asked to fasten our seat belts. He then showed us how to adjust our Virtual Reality headsets to our comfort. Once the headsets were on, the host taught us how to take photos during the tour. With your right hand, you clench your fist, and that signals the headset to screen shot the Virtual Reality scene that is currently displayed. Take note, the best full screen Virtual imagery is towards the end of the bus tour. So if you are gung ho and snapping a bunch of pictures in the beginning, you may run out of memory space. The VR headset will stop taking pictures once you've reached the storage capacity. After leaving Royal Hawaiian Ave., the bus route includes driving by Kapiolani Park, Diamond Head, and back onto Ala Wai before pulling up to Royal Hawaiian Ave. The VR scenery changes from deep ocean with moving marine life, an erupting volcano, and a floral realm, to a paradise skyline complete with rainbows and fireworks. Obviously, being adequately staffed makes a big difference. But the separator is TSA personnel in Honolulu are generally more courteous. In this day and age, to see the numerous non-international travelers who get turned away because they are in the wrong line is a little mind boggling. The signage indicating this is a TSA Precheck line are pretty clear and obvious. Travelers get disgruntled when they get in front of an agent only to find out they were in the wrong queue - but, hey, do that in major west coast terminal and see how much more unpleasant the experience is.

I remember when hubs and I rode Skyline from the end of the line in Kapolei when it first became operational. Today I saw the beginnings of the rail making its way towards Down Town close to Aloha Tower. It will be exciting once it is in operation at Ala Moana Shopping Center. Whenever we are heading out from the Daniel K Inouye Airport the Skyline with its white canopies is massive and attractive. Progress? It sure seems to be taking a long time for completion but sure and steady.

Station guides notes escalators though I didn't see any just stairs which there are two levels to reach the platform and elevators of course and after viewing majority of the stations my legs are exhausted so I decided to take it since this station is less crowded. Escalator is nicely air conditioned and smooth is no wonder many are taking it versus the stairs. Love this stop and know it will be put to great use and the cool open air makes a nice relaxing place to wait for your ride...just wish it has more seating at all stations. Thank you!

After travelling to Waikīkī several times in our 30's, my hubby and I decided to get settled on the island. So, we lived in Waikiki from the turn of the century in 2000 to a major earthquake that knocked out power to the island for days in 2006. We haven't been back since, but I returned to the island in 2023. I was shocked with all of these changes in these years. I vividly remember there was a major rain event on Oahu that caused the biggest sewage pipe to bust. Raw sewage flowed into Ala Wai and to the ocean. There were no canoe paddlers for many months. We lived in a plantation-style house and we had sewage back up. The city workers came to clear the clog for us. Memories... Before we left the island, my friend told me, "There will be changes next time you come back. But one thing won't change. That's the people of Hawaii." Thanks for being genuine. Y'all kept the aloha spirit intact. You've been through covid pandemic and Asia economic crisis. Waikīkī is still thriving. I looked beyond the homelessness at Ala Moana Beach Park and some beach benches. The beauty of Waikīkī remains in the view of this former Kama'aina (longtime resident in Hawaii). Aloha! p.s. Not just a Tourist Destination…read more.. If Pearl Harbor is the Number One attraction on the Island of O'ahu, then Waikiki is Second on the list. In my opinion, Waikiki is almost like Hollywood. There's a lot of traffic, many tourists, and a lack of parking. However, Waikiki is more beautiful than Hollywood because of its exquisite sunsets; stellar beaches with soft, beige sand; gentle, tropical breezes; clear, calm, warm ocean water perfect for swimming; and blue, sunny skies with fluffy white clouds and occasional rainbows. Recently, merchants in Waikiki seem to be luring Hawaii residents with validated parking. For example, Royal Lobster will give patrons three hours of parking in the Waikiki Shopping Plaza; and International Marketplace will validate with a purchase of $10 or more. Some hotels will advertise Kama'āina rates for certain holidays and weekends. Staycations are becoming popular since TSA and an airplane flight can be avoided. Dining options have increased with food courts such as Stix Asia (Waikiki Shopping Plaza) and Waikiki Food Hall (Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center). There are also fine dining establishments like Azure, Hy's Steakhouse, and La Mer. Mahalo to the local staff who share the Aloha Spirit with the tourists and residents alike! We appreciate you for your hard work and adaptability towards all cultures, lifestyles, and situations! My friend, Emi, reminded me that we're so lucky to live in paradise. People save up and - at times - use their life savings on a vacation to the 50th State. We don't have "snow days", "winter" clothes, smog, nor chains for our tires. We do not have to defrost our windshields nor shovel snow. We do have pure drinking water from Artesian Wells. We have a natural source of Vitamin D (sunshine). We are the Healthiest State in the US (according to a Forbes list posted on 1-17-23)! That's why we (Kama'āina) should be thankful always and not take our Island Home for granted...

It was AMAZING! Clean; Comfortable; Full kitchen; close to shops,restaurants, the beach... Van Paige- Reservations and Chieko Dow- General Manager are so professional; accomodating and just down right Friendly! I have booked a room twice since then and each time has been a perfect experience. Van takes the time to explain in detail what you can expect. Any questions/concerns he answers his email in a timely manner. As long as you follow the rules your experience will be a very pleasant one - every time. Thank you Chieko!
