Delicatessa Bar Globus - Gourmet Salmon Sandwich

Checked the menu lately and found out that they got oysters on it. Came in yesterday for a pre-lunch snack. The menu is quite interesting. Red and White Wine, Prosecco, Champagne or beer. Deluxe-Sandwiches, Pasta, Beef Tartar, Salmon, Gourmet-Platter, Sushi etc. Prices are surprisingly reasonable. But we came for the Oysters that day, just for a snack. To our surprise, three Oysters with a glass of white wine only costs 16.- here. That's quite cheap. And now the best part. These are Loch Fyne Oysters from Scotland. Some of the best Oysters we've ever tried (been at Loch Fyne a bunch of years ago). Beaten only by Moran's Oysters near Galway. So this here is a fantastic deal. The wine that came with is the Spanish Basa (white), another favourite of ours. And all for this price. We were quite thrilled. Oysters taste fresh, were opened before our eyes. Nice size, good flavours, tender. The Salmon Sandwich we had the other week was a nice surprise as well. Radish spread on the bread, topped with a really good load of high quality salmon. Nice texture, nice color, nice flavour and worth the money. Staff is nice and friendly and the atmosphere here quite relaxing. One might think it's a bit strange being located in the middle of the food market. But this is quite the luxury food market down here, the atmosphere is quiet and calm, the setting tasteful and modern. A nice place to hang out to enjoy a drink and some oysters or some other food. They also serve coffee, tea and soft drinks in case you just wanna hang out at the bar without some food or/and alcohol. A great place. Surely we will come back...and more often.

We went to twinys looking for quick bite to eat under $20 and it was a hard search unfortunately (we were tired of quick meals at coop and migros). And twinys really came to our rescue. It's a food stand so everything there is to go and there is no where to sit. The staff was very friendly, one of my friends had a food allergy and they had no issues whatsoever adjusting his sandwich accordingly. I got the chicken sandwich, their staple sandwich and I was a big fan. Would recommend getting the twiny sauce and the garlic sauce as well. Was quite a flavorful sandwich and the staff even added extra pickles after I joked it. The bread is nice and crispy and the chicken came out hot. My friends loved their salami sandwich. I would note that the sandwiches can be a bit messy, we had a few bread crumbs and pieces of lettuce fall out while eating and the sauce does start to drip. We ended up coming back for more sandwiches later in our trip as our go to quick eat spot that is inexpensive. If you are looking for a bite without spending a fortune in Lucerne would recommend a visit!

The price tag is a little more consumer friendly than most places. It's a takeout window. Easy to order and food was ready quickly. I ordered the large chicken schnitzel with garlic sauce and a side of pommes for 20 CHF. Served on a baguette, the sandwich had multiple cutlets of schnitzel throughout. They go heavy on the sauce and Im here for it! The sandwich was filling but a little messy. The fries were good, nothing remarkable, but good old heated up precut frozen fries. We took our food down to the water and ate on a bench. It was great. In fact, we were so full from our sandwiches we decided to skip our sit down dinner a couple hours later.

The inside is naturally lighted by the large windows surrounding this restaurant. At the back there are some comfortable over-sized leather chairs to sit at. When we entered we had to wipe down our own table and chairs even though it was 2pm on a Sunday and mostly empty. While not dirty, it was not 100% wiped down. While the kitchen is closed at 2:00pm, you can still select one of their many sandwiches to eat either cold or hot. It just means you cannot order any of their pasta or pizzas from their menu. There were two people working here, but one of them was taking a break, which left the other girl running around trying to catch up. She looked tired, and while the service wasn't horrid, we still walked up to the counter to order our sandwiches, drinks, and pay. The sandwiches were very good, the bread was perfect. Following we selected one of the several favoured hot chocolates from their long list of Italian hot chocolate drinks. My friend and I each had the pistachio flavor. It was fantastic! I would come back just for the hot chocolate. They also had a large menu of teas and coffees. I have consistently found the sandwiches to be very good here, but the service, and cleanliness mediocre thus loosing a star.
