The wait wasn't too bad and I suppose it's better to let people know it's full than try to squeeze in people instead. Most of the reviews were underwhelming. I am here at 7pm writing this review and it's getting cleared up now. I'm giving it 4 because the buffet was better than I thought. Maybe it's my first time in Italy and in general this country has good produce and ingredients. But for me, some items surpasses the typical crappy, salty airport food. Grilled eggplant with basil and olive oil, mozzarella, cakes and vegetable dishes were fresh, tasty and delicious. Bare in mind, after 20hrs of travel and still going, I'm just happy to see fresh veggies. My Aperol spritz, great! It's not a fancy lounge, but it hits the spot for my priority pass usage. TL;DR - unexpectedly decent drink and food selection. Don't bother coming up if you want just want to sit or work.

Plenty of seating, a wide variety of European newspapers, food and a full bar service await. It definitely beats No.1 lounge in Gatwick which is crazy busy and full of kids. I get the impression that the Piedmonte lounge is only for those with Business class tickets or relevant level airline loyalty cards, not pay and enter like Gatwick. Sounds snobbish but if you want peace, quiet and not to have kids running around then this is the place to come before your flight. Clean, tidy and great service then if I'm back here (hopefully business class!) then I'd happily hang out here pre-flight.

The food section can get a close snug when it's crowded. Portions go quickly so many were hovering round, waiting for the refill. It's nothing fancy, but it's quiet, has comfortable seating, some moderately decent food, plenty of outlets for charging, some TVs, and showers (extra charge) if you want them. A quick priority pass swipe got both of us in at no charge, and we zeroed in on a very wide, long, comfortable leather couch that would serve as both a couch for sitting and a bed for laying at varying moments of our stay. There was plenty of water, soda, wine, and a nicely stocked bar that was all self-serve. Food was always available, and lounge staff were replenishing it fairly consistently. The fruit, cheese, and meat were the go-to items, and even two cappuccinos wasn't enough to keep me from a ~90 minute nap. It's not the fanciest lounge in the world, but it was just what we needed with four hours to kill and some sleep to be had.

The restrooms were well-stocked and clean. The only think I would have liked is if there were outlets in baggage claim for charging up devices that have died, while waiting for your bags. Once you're through customs, there is a waiting area where I could charge my phone while we waited for the bus- if you're planning to take the bus, it might be a good idea to download the Arriva app ahead of time. The ticket machines where working, and the app needed to text me a code, so this could be an issue if you don't have cellular service.

Not terrible, as far as international airports go. You get all the things you expect: duty free…read moreshopping, an overly-ambitious cloud of perfume and cologne sprays, lost tourists, loud noises, chaos. Nothing different. There are two things that really took me by surprise: a) the size of the terminal. I am very glad we decided to check out of the hotel a bit earlier than was strictly necessary, because we had to hoof it to Delta's side of things, which was much farther away than we'd expected; and 2) the extreme mismatch between the sheer size of the terminal and the size of the waiting areas at the gates. By the time we got the gate, every seat - and I do mean *every seat* was taken by a human body. People were sitting on the floor or on their luggage, pressed against a wall. People were standing in front of the one store that fronted the gate, and people were blocking aisles inside the store (clearly waiting for the flight), which I'll never understand. The staff that we did end up interacting with was friendly enough, though when it came time for boarding, it was more chaos. The loudspeaker didn't work so well, so nobody could really hear what the agent was saying. And once it became clear that they were going to start letting us line up to board, it was like the good old Southwest Airlines days, where everybody made a beeline to the queue like they didn't have tickets with their assigned seats labeled. Anyway, it was fine for what it was. We did the tourist thing and got our duty-free shopping in, which was a fast and easy experience - once we settled on the items. We did get turned around once, trying to exit the duty free area, but thank goodness I saw the signs were leading us away from where I thought we needed to go. Got some good steps in that morning, at the very least...
