It's nothing fancy, but it's quiet, has comfortable seating, some moderately decent food, plenty of outlets for charging, some TVs, and showers (extra charge) if you want them. A quick priority pass swipe got both of us in at no charge, and we zeroed in on a very wide, long, comfortable leather couch that would serve as both a couch for sitting and a bed for laying at varying moments of our stay. There was plenty of water, soda, wine, and a nicely stocked bar that was all self-serve. Food was always available, and lounge staff were replenishing it fairly consistently. The fruit, cheese, and meat were the go-to items, and even two cappuccinos wasn't enough to keep me from a ~90 minute nap. It's not the fanciest lounge in the world, but it was just what we needed with four hours to kill and some sleep to be had.

The restrooms were well-stocked and clean. The only think I would have liked is if there were outlets in baggage claim for charging up devices that have died, while waiting for your bags. Once you're through customs, there is a waiting area where I could charge my phone while we waited for the bus- if you're planning to take the bus, it might be a good idea to download the Arriva app ahead of time. The ticket machines where working, and the app needed to text me a code, so this could be an issue if you don't have cellular service.

There are two things that really took me by surprise: a) the size of the terminal. I am very glad we decided to check out of the hotel a bit earlier than was strictly necessary, because we had to hoof it to Delta's side of things, which was much farther away than we'd expected; and 2) the extreme mismatch between the sheer size of the terminal and the size of the waiting areas at the gates. By the time we got the gate, every seat - and I do mean *every seat* was taken by a human body. People were sitting on the floor or on their luggage, pressed against a wall. People were standing in front of the one store that fronted the gate, and people were blocking aisles inside the store (clearly waiting for the flight), which I'll never understand. The staff that we did end up interacting with was friendly enough, though when it came time for boarding, it was more chaos. The loudspeaker didn't work so well, so nobody could really hear what the agent was saying. And once it became clear that they were going to start letting us line up to board, it was like the good old Southwest Airlines days, where everybody made a beeline to the queue like they didn't have tickets with their assigned seats labeled. Anyway, it was fine for what it was. We did the tourist thing and got our duty-free shopping in, which was a fast and easy experience - once we settled on the items. We did get turned around once, trying to exit the duty free area, but thank goodness I saw the signs were leading us away from where I thought we needed to go. Got some good steps in that morning, at the very least...

It is normal for cafes to pre make their food and heat them up to serve, but it did not work for this burger. You can stop in and grab a drink and maybe stick with a safer meal choice..........

Cleaning is merely a suggestion in the restrooms as they were dirty. The only reprieve was the Genova Lounge. However, you have to pay to get into this lounge but gladly since it actually has some seating. I suggest if you had to go to this "airport" that you use the lounge to wait until 30 minutes prior to boarding. When I arrived, one of the airport workers inquired about how much money I had. Considering that my flight came from the Schengen area, this was not ok as I was not clearing customs. This worker should be fired. Also, taxis are a complete rip off. 27 Euros each way to a very short distance in town. Nothing coming back via Genova airport.

We made the mistake of getting off one stop early at Terminal 1 and had to wait 15-20 min for the free shuttle to take us to Terminal 2 for our Easyjet flight. When the shuttle arrived at Terminal 2, we figured the entrance for departures was where the shuttle stopped in front of... it had stopped in front of the train station area. We went outside and turned right to get to the departures entrance. Staff was not very helpful nor were the signs. Cannot rely on anything or anyone to help direct you in this terminal. As usual, with European airports, once you go through TSA, you are forced to walk through their Duty-free maze in order to get to your gate.
