We had Piedmont Strings perform the musical program at our wedding ceremony in front of the Swan House at the Atlanta History Center. They did an outstanding job! I have to thank our wedding planner, Jordan Xu, of Emily Jordan Events (https://www.yelp.com/biz/emily-jordan-events-atlanta) for recommending Piedmont Strings to us. Initially, I thought of hiring Cobalt Strings because I knew them through other events (https://www.yelp.com/biz/cobalt-strings-atlanta). However, after receiving pricing from both groups, Piedmont Strings came in at a significantly lower price than Cobalt Strings. In our planner's professional opinion, having worked with both groups, she said both Piedmont Strings and Cobalt Strings were "equally fabulous," so that's how we decided on Piedmont Strings.
Piedmont Strings performed 30 minutes of prelude music, from 5:30pm to 6:00pm, while guests were seated on the Swan House lawn. They then played key pieces during the ceremony, from 6:00pm to 6:30pm. We got to choose what songs they played based on a long list of their repertoire on their website: https://www.piedmontstrings.com/repertoire-1. Here's what we chose for each part of our ceremony (my wife chose most of the music):
* Prelude:
"Skinny Love" by Bon Iver
"Skyfall" by Adele
"Paradise" by Coldplay
"Set Fire to the Rain" by Adele
"Shake it Out" by Florence and the Machines
"Yellow" by Coldplay
"Young and Beautiful" by Lana Del Rey from The Great Gatsby
"Take a Walk" by Passion Pit
"Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane
"Shake It Out" by Florence + The Machine
"Love Me Like You Do" by Ellie Goulding
"Flightless Bird, American Mouth" by Iron & Wine
"Bittersweet Symphony" by The Verve
* Entrance of Wedding Party:
"What a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong
* Bridal Processional:
"Your Hand in Mind" by Explosions in the Sky
* Recessional:
"Viva la Vida" by Coldplay
We initially paid for a trio that cost $475 total for one hour. That included a $100 deposit and a $25 administrative fee. The administrative fee increased to $35 after we booked. Less than two weeks before the wedding, I decided I wanted to add a fourth musician so the music would sound even better. Manager Stephen (violin) was able to accommodate on short notice. I paid an extra $185 for the fourth member. So, the final total to Piedmont Strings was $660. We also interacted with founder Jen (Jennifer) (violin/viola) and our day-of contact was Bill (cello). Everyone was great. The whole team was professional, friendly, responsive, and a pleasure to work with.
We were able to request that Piedmont Strings' musicians dress in tuxedos and formal dresses at no additional cost. That was great because our wedding was black tie attire.
Piedmont Strings was beautifully interwoven into our wedding trailer which you can view here (link is to exact time Piedmont Strings appears): https://youtu.be/qCchwS6dAZs?t=104. You can also hear some of their music from our ceremony in our full wedding film here (link is to time the ceremony portion begins): https://youtu.be/CI_EuQh3J1s?t=220.
They were perfect for our Swan House wedding and what we had envisioned.
I highly recommend booking the full quartet, especially for an outdoor event.
Thank you, Piedmont Strings, for being an instrumental part of the best day of our lives. No pun intended. read more
