For funsies, we decided to pick up a dozen cupcakes to take with us. Talk about variety! But first, the customer experience of walking in: You are IMMEDIATELY hit with the smell of cake. Sweet, delicious cake. I imagine that's what heaven smells like. It's a small space, but the group makes the best it can with social distancing. Everyone is wearing a mask, and a hand sanitizing station is by the door and also by the register. All the cupcakes are protected by glass, and the colder sweets are protected in a clear fridge. And as appetizing as the cold cakes looked, c'mon. We were here for the cupcakes. They're legendary in the Valley. Our selection only had one duplicate: The lemon blueberry. And honestly, these massive muffin-sized cupcakes are huge. They're huge, dense, moist, and did I mention huge? They maintain their cupcake flavor without coming off as too muffin-like. And with eclectic toppings like HOT CHEETOS WHAT, decadent brownies, cherries, and candy corn (they can't all be winners, I guess), there's something for everyone here. My absolute favorites, in no particular order: Red velvet (Classic, delicious, traditional), strawberry (not cloyingly sweet, still fruity), German chocolate (ohmygodddd), and chocolate with a massive brownie plopped on top (guaranteed to satisfy your resident chocoholic). You can watch the bakers making the pastries and breads fresh through the glass window behind the counter, and everything we had was fresh, artisan, handmade, and tasty. Day-old banana bread -- very good, even a day old. Chocolate croissant -- not a ton of chocolate, more of your traditional size with just a little inside. Strawberry cream Danish -- very tasty and fresh. Cream puff -- super moist, with perfectly tender dough. Really good bite. Cinnamon roll -- very large, so don't underestimate the size. One note: the cream/icing on top was just too much -- too sweet and too heavy-handed. It would've been better served on the side to dip into, because the parts where we took off the cream off were really good. (We microwaved it for a minute once we got home.) Coffees -- a couple of solid coffees, nothing too crazy. One thing to flag: for five or six pastries and a couple of coffees, it ran us around $50. Pro tip: This isn't somewhere I'd take the kids.
