No real taste. Side rice and beans were okay, but nothing special. Smal scoop of guacamole was added. Flour tortillas were good. Meat was tender but very chewy. Had very little flavor and a small serving for two. Basically, it was hardly enough to make 2 tacos each. Meat and onions only. Cost was $48.00? Check your bill before paying, ours rang up at a higher price on the bill. They corrected it after we asked about it. But we had to show them the menu to prove our point. Overall, this place has potential. After so many good reviews maybe cost have been cut? They need to do better. Plenty of great restaurants in the area. I might as well have ordered something else with fajita meat on it. Then I ordered the Mexican Flag enchiladas and didn't like any of it. Just not a fan of any part of it, the red or green sauce. Then the beans on the plate look gross to me. Service was great - waiter was good! ...but the place was dead.... I assume it was either just the timing or it makes me wonder if they just don't meet the mark for the food. Hate to say we will not bother with coming back here.

Today my husband and I experienced Picositos for the first time. He has many years of experience in the kitchen, and I have many years of eating, and we are tired of the local fare. To chalk it up simply, the food is amazing. Everything is quality made and all the ingredients are clearly fresh. The tortilla chips are very light and non-greasy, the salsa is very fresh, peppery and robust, and the free queso is addicting!!! My husband had to ask the waiter if someone's mother was in the back rolling the tamales... They are completely homemade, authentic, and AMAZING!! From our appetizer to their amazingly delicious sopapillas, everything about their food is superb. This is one of the only Mexican restaurants I've been to in this area with authentic Mexican food.... most have a generic, plastic taste to all of it. To top off all of the great food, the staff is super friendly, and though they're attentive, they do not hover!! The waiter had tons of knowledge about the origin of the food and was really on point with the service. This hidden gem definitely needs to be unearthed!!! read more

My favorite Mexican restaurant. The salsa is always hot and fresh (and just plain awesome sauce). The service is fast and friendly. The chicken in any of their dishes is amazing. They have great lunch specials, and free chile con queso a little after that. All of the dishes I've had there are delicious, and I really hope they stay in business for a long time. read more

I've eaten here multiple times over the past 6 years and keep going back for multiple reasons; the staff is great, drinks are strong, the food is great (fish tacos are probably my favorite), and the cost is very reasonable. read more

As a Latino who grew up eating Mexican food daily, I don't hand out praise easily. I'm a foodie with high standards, and I give honest reviews with no fluff. That said, El Jarrito is one of the best spots we've tried so far in Magnolia and even compared to places we've had in Houston. I'm giving it a solid 4 out of 5. I ordered the chile relleno plate. Normally it comes with either cheese or ground beef, rice, and refried beans, but I customized it to one cheese and one ground beef with charro beans instead. They gave me zero pushback, which I appreciated. The cheese relleno was better than the ground beef one in my opinion, but both were good. The rice was actually better than most places around here. The charro beans had good flavor, about a 3 out of 5 for me, but could have used more meat. We also ordered hard shell ground beef tacos. They do not offer shredded meat, which would have been nice. Flavor was good and my wife enjoyed them, but they use pre made taco shells. If they homemade fried those shells, that would have taken it to another level. Our friend had the combo, cheese enchilada and taco, and she loved it. The enchilada was solid. Now let's talk about the salsa. The house salsa with the chips was fire. Fresh and warm, which is different in a good way. My wife had never had warm salsa before and really liked it. The guacamole was fresh. We asked them to keep it basic because we have a toddler and did not want it spicy. They nailed it. We added our own lime and salt and it was perfect. We ordered three micheladas. The cups were on the smaller side, but the mix was good and the mugs were ice cold. No complaints there. Service was quick, attentive, and friendly. The place was clean and we were taken care of right away. Overall, based on flavor, service, willingness to accommodate, and feedback from everyone at the table, it is a 4 out of 5. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to exploring more of Magnolia, but for this neck of the woods, this spot holds its own.
