We had been to Pick's Drive In ages ago, and passing through Cloverdale at lunch time, decided to see how the new Roadside compared. Quite nicely, as it turns out. My wife had the Pick's Mini with cheese and I opted for the Roadside Burger, also with cheese. With these I added a Chocolate Shake and she tried the Heath Bar Crunch shake. The burgers are next level, this Wagyu is some high quality beef. The buns were OK; have to try the pretzel bun in the future. My wife was in love with her Heath shake, couldn't get enough of it, and said it was the best shake she could remember! The chocolate shake was great as well. You still order and then they call or buzz you when it's ready. Service was quick and friendly. We ate at their large outdoor area with lots of picnic tables. Can't ask for more; glad to see Pick's has retained their mojo. read more

Burger was really good. We had the original and the blue cheese one. Onion rings, perfectly seasoned. Very flavorful well drained... Service absolutely needs some work. After the gal called me up repeatedly to get the milkshake, and ice cream cones... I asked her what did I tip for? She replied to me you didn't. I said literally I gave you a $15 tip. Why are you not walking our food over to the table? We are your only customers.... She rolled her eyes and ran into the back. Guess they need a little more training in customer service and what it is. We paid $107 for two burgers three shakes two fries and two onion rings. We used to go to the old Pick's when camping at Cloverdale KOA with our kids 20 years ago. It was always hot and dusty and food just mediocre. We stopped by the "new" Pick's today after Yorty Creek and were pleasantly surprised at how good the food was, and how clean the updated space is. The new owner is a fourth generation Cloverdalian turned VC and the love she put into it shows. We both ordered the 1/4 mini burger for $9.50 (plus $1.50 for cheese), and the Wagyu beef cooked medium rare was buttery and delicious. It's served with fresh lettuce, tomato and mayo, and you can add other condiments from the bar. The fries/onion rings are served with a side of blue cheesy ranch dressing for $5.50 and were more than enough for two people. Onion rings were crispy and very tasty, and husband liked the fries which were thin cut. They have multiple seating areas with umbrellas or shaded, with misters near the counter, and dog friendly with bowls for water. There is also seating at the counter and they serve beer and wine. Service was prompt and friendly and locals seemed to frequent it too. Cost was $36 for 2 burgers, 2 soft drinks, fries/onion rings and we are full. I really wanted to love this place. First, the good: The facelift is impressive. New fencing, fresh paint, updated signage, more outdoor seating... it genuinely feels like someone put a lot of care into bringing Pick's back to life. Service was also excellent. Friendly staff, and they thankfully let me test the beer I wanted before pouring a full one. Good thing too, because it had almost no carbonation. So, short story long, my wife and I came for a date night. We ordered one burger, one hot dog, split an order of fries and onion rings, and each had two drinks. The Wagyu Beef with applewood bacon was good on the burger. But at $18 for a burger alone, I'd call it... small. Maybe average-sized at best. (Yes, yes... insert your own joke here.) The hot dog was also small to average sized for the price. Tasty, but it's a tough comparison when Costco is over there with a giant hot dog and drink for $1.50. The biggest issue was the value. Sides don't come with the entrees (wild with that price tag!) and one split order really isn't enough for two people. Ordering multiple sides starts getting expensive fast, especially when you're also buying drinks. By the time we were done, our bill was over $100. To put this in perspective: one burger, one hot dog, one shared side, and four drinks. That's it. At that point we didn't feel like trying dessert, but I hear the milkshake may be worth the extra expense if you got the slush fund. To be fair, I understand restaurants have high overhead and it's 2026, not 1966. But when you're paying that much, it's hard not to judge every bite against the price. I left thinking, "That was good..." and also, "I'm still hungry." One other thing: since outdoor dining is the plan, splurging some of that inflation on a few fly traps would go a long way. We spent a good portion of our date swatting away uninvited guests. Their slogan on their site is, "PICK'S IS BACK, FOR GOOD." & I sincerely hope that's true. Cloverdale deserves great local restaurants. But if Pick's wants locals coming back again and again, the prices need to be a little more appetizing. Right now, there are other burgers nearby (albeit without as inviting ingredients) where you can spend half as much and leave just as full--or fuller. I really do hope they succeed! I ordered the double burger and added cheese. No sides or drink and my total was $20 with 20% tip. The burger was great and the woman behind the counter was super friendly. It was convenient to walk over with my pups, order a burger and have a quick lunch. They source their meat locally and it has a nice beefy flavor. Spicy chicken sandwich was perfection. The chicken was ideal thickness and crispness. The flavor of the pickled onions was a special touch. The fries weren't wiggly and the onions rings didn't pull through when bitten. My husband ordered the picks cheeseburger. He also loved the pickled onions. Juicy burger. Being new to Cloverdale, it's exciting to have new food options in town. In short: good service, good food, great milkshake My order: Pick burger, French fries, chocolate shake. *Fries: well salted with a good crisp. *Burger: good seasoning. Milk bread bun reminded me of Hawaiian bread in a good way. Picks red relish was a nice pop of flavor. *Shake was the standout. Good consistency. Not too thick. Not too runny. Just the right amount of chocolate. served w a boba sized straw that made sipping smooth & easy. The chocolate dipped soft serve cone looked amazing and apparently the Pick's Pilsner is brewed by Old Caz, so will have to give those both a try next time. Pick's Roadside is a cute little burger joint in Cloverdale that we have been wanting to try for awhile so my wife and I decide to take the short drive down from Ukiah to check it out on a beautiful spring day. It's very inviting and clean. The staff is friendly and helpful. However, as many others have said, the food isn't worth the price. The burgers are OK, but not great. My wife got the veggie burger, which she said had too much Chipotle sauce on it for her liking. Otherwise, she thought it was good. I ordered the Pick's burger but added a second patty, and I'm glad I did. They are reported to be 1/3 lb., but I found them rather small and fairly dry. If I had ordered one patty, it would have been too much bun for the tiny patty. With two patties, it was about right. The fries were reported to be very salty, so I had the seasoning on the side. It was very salty. I'm glad I had it on the side. The chocolate malt was OK, but too dark for my tastes. It was presented well. It had a good consistency, too. Overall, the meal was OK, but we paid over $70 for two burgers (one with two patties), a small order of fries, and a chocolate malt + tip. And we didn't even order drinks other than the chocolate malt. If we had ordered sodas, it would have been more like $90 for two people at a burger joint! It certainly wasn't worth the $70+ we paid. Don't get me wrong. I like to eat at gourmet restaurants, and I'm willing to pay for good food, but Pick's had the gourmet pricing but not the gourmet flavor. I could take my wife out for a prime rib dinner in Ukiah for about $5 more. Paying this much for a so-so burger at a burger stand is ridiculous. I heard about this local revamped establishment on The Wine Road podcast so I thought we'd give it a try. We live in Orange County, California, but a few times a year we travel to Ft. Bragg to visit friends. On our way home, this past May, we decided to stop at Pick's for a quick bite to eat. My husband and I ordered the basic hamburgers and fries. The meals were SO fresh and delicious! The hamburger patty was not overcooked with just a bit of pink, very nice and juicy! I think this is the best hamburger I've ever eaten! The article spoke about their homemade buns, but the whole hamburger was on the small side. Our dinner cost $77. We got two burgers, one milkshake one root beer, one onion rings, and one fry. The service was fine, the people were nice... but the pricing pretty outrageous. It's a friendly outdoor atmosphere. The real issue is the food. Two regular burgers and one veggie burger, and all three of us got the poops. Was so excited to see Picks reopened... great new spot for the town. Like all new food places, and a new team they need to work through the learning curve -and as they go, so go we. But finding only Wagyu burgers at a high price, and no other option in my opinion will eliminate a lot of customers. Have stopped by now 2x, and both times the flavor of a wagyu meat was lost to the sauces and onions. Give us options, a regular burger at a lower price, or for those that want it- a wagyu burger with sauces & et al- then don't complain about the prices. I like that Picks kept it an old school hamburger joint. We had a burger and a hotdog and they both were really good. Had a milkshake which was great. The only thing the french fries had a little bit too much salt and garlic on them. Other than that, everything was great and definitely will be back. read more

This is a follow up Picks burger review to one I provided a few months ago where I noted that some work needed to be done. Well, I recently revisited Picks and ordered a Picks burger and milkshake. My thought was let's try again and see how it goes... and.... Excellent burger, very excellent milkshake! Like, OMG this is good. Worth it. I did not order fries because I splurged on the milkshake but when I return (and I will) I will order fries. Side note; I wonder how a Picks burger would taste with a fried egg on it....hmmm...
