Lots of shoppers, and lots of staff stocking shelves and checking people out. They have many interesting packaged foods, gourmet items, produce, and wine. However, there wasn't much to offer in the fresh meat area. I couldn't find any pork roasts, for example. I know people really love their Trader Joe's, but for us it doesn't quite cover enough of the items we typically buy at our usual stores. And for the items that do overlap, the prices are higher than what we usually pay at Aldi.

I popped in to grab the items for the viral Dumpling Bake recipe while out running Birthday Reward errands- shared this with my checkout attendant and he was super nice and tossed in a small bouquet of flowers as a little bday add-on from Trader Joe's! Unexpected and made my day. Also if you haven't tried the dumpling bake make it! I recommend going with the chicken gyoza (healthier lower calorie/sodium option) and reduced fat coconut milk. Add in a full bag of spinach and also a bag of stir fry veggies!

Its easy to find what you're looking for - as long as they have it in stock. The downside is the required speed at which the cashier is expected to scan your items. They are expected to scan up to 1200 items per hour or up to 50 items per minute. Aldi uses a performance metric which specifically rates cashiers efficiency - specifically the speed at which one transaction concludes and the next one commences. So why, in my opinion, is this considered a downside? It's because when I shop at Aldi's, I carry my own bag and do not use a cart. At checkout, the cashier will not place my purchased items in my opened bag as they are being scanned - placing them instead in the cart which speeds the process up but is inconvenient because I then have to remove them from the cart and put them into the opened bag - which is already IN the cart - all while the person behind me has to wait until the cart has been emptied so they can use it. Will this stop me from shopping at Aldi's? Certainly not. It's a minor inconvenience. The positives vastly outweigh the negatives. Something else worth mentioning - their fruit quality is hit-or-miss. Sometimes its fabulous and sometimes its not, especially the pre-bagged produce. Again, this will not keep me from the store.

Walking over to Whole Foods was a lot easier than risking my life crossing the street here! The store was bright and in good condition. Like most grocery stores, any employee I encountered was not concerned with me and went about their business. The pasta sauce I found was naturally more expensive than across the street at Meijer, but I liked that it was from a family brand instead of some giant conglomerate. The self-checkout line was pretty long so I went with a cashier and she was more pleasant than your average Kroger employee, so I'll call that a win.

During the holiday time going in the afternoon can be a little risky I did have to stop at another store for more of the main flowers but it was definitely due to the time of year.

Although this is a bit far from my home, it's conveniently located near my work so I can pick up items after work. The liquor department is probably one of the biggest I've ever seen with many allocated items behind the counter and occasional raffles for the more rare allocations. The carts are big and noisy but I'll use the "small" ones if I can find one. The store can be overwhelming the first couple of times but eventually you get used to the layout. Woodmans is always busy but with the selection and prices, it's easy to see why. And even with the amount of product and people that pass through here, it's well kept and clean. My favorite departments are probably the huge produce and dairy department. Woodman's will continue to be a place I stop at for groceries and other goodies!

I understand but some of these seems like price gouging. There are high quality ingredients here but expect to pay. Whole foods has many similar products cheaper to be fair but this is a local place so I get it. My only big issue is if I'm running out to get one or two last ingredients there are multiple times they have run out of what I need and these are simply staple ingredients. I don't think I could afford to do all of my grocery shopping here but it's a great place to pickup a few items especially their bulk items
