Found this place by accident on a recent road trip to Niagara-on-the-Lake. They didn't have a whole lot of the "Old Tyme" candy I was expecting (based on the sign out front) but they did have an amazing selection of nuts and chocolates. Prices are very reasonable, too. We picked up a few things but I haven't tried any of them yet. Will probably stop in again next road trip!

    A must visit...

We have been driving by this place for years . This time we went in . It was peanut heaven so many kinds of peanuts beer nuts , sour cream peanuts , chocolate nuts , It's a must visit you will go nuts in this place Great prices .

Picard's Peanuts drives me NUTS! I love how I can sample most of the different flavours and varieties before I buy. But that can be dangerous too as there are so many that I like and I might be overloaded with nuts! Beer Nuts (does not contain beers) at $2 a package! That would go well with all the crafted beers I picked up from Oast House and SilverSmith just down the street! Definitely worth dropping by when you in NOTL and loves peanuts and snacking!

All kinds of flavored peanuts, sour cream, garlic, lime, chili pepper etc. Even potato chip covered flavored peanuts. Most were really tasty. Crunchy flavorful. You could sample a couple before buying. There were also sunflower seeds in many flavors. Lots of chocolate boxes. Also gift baskets with nuts and chocolates looked lovely. Now the best part was the ice cream! Not too many flavors to pick from but they all looked real good. Didn't know about this place until today. Just a few minutes drive from the "downtown" of Niagara on the Lake.

    Delicious Nuts!!

I love this shop! It's nothing fancy but very cool. They had lots of samples around store and the flavours and quality of their peanuts was exceptional...and so fresh! Their prices are very good. The selection below was only $15. So reasonable for a specialty store. Totally worth a visit if you love crunchy yummy nuts. My only complaint is they need more locations. In fact, this is the type of shop I would have loved to see on Queen Street (NOTL Heritage District), it was the only store in NOTL I enjoyed visiting because it was something different.

Maybe next time, when I can bring a cooler! We ended up getting a milk chocolate chip cookie, cream cheese cookie, plain butter tart, pecan butter tart and a cheesecake cookie dough bar. The cream cheese cookie was by far my favourite thing we got. So much so, I'm currently looking up recipes on how to make cream cheese cookies lol. The butter tart was delicious but omg sooo sweet. I really should not have ate the whole thing at once because it was a little much lol. Note, only eat half in a day lol. I wasn't a fan of the cheesecake cookie bar. I love cheesecake but I didn't love the blend with the cookie. I'm sure someone else would like this but it wasn't to my tastebuds' liking. Finally, the milk chocolate chip cookie was perfect. Warmed up for 10 seconds made it even better. Has a bit of a crunch on the outside with an ooey gooey chewy centre. A perfect cookie. All items cost around $20, which I think is fair as we got 5 items. The woman helping us was extremely kind and friendly, which took this review to 5 stars. She was so sweet. I'll be sure to stop by again when I'm around NOTL again.

The Black Lager, Nut Brown Ale, Tropical Situation, Altar Ego, and Extra Special Bitter were what we tried and they were excellent! Food is superb here too. We started with the Whipped Feta which we tend to get a lot when it's available at different dispensaries and this one was easily one of the best we had. My Buffalo Chicken Burger was so delicious, crispy, and the Gorgonzola cheese added a lot to it as well. My wife ordered the Tofu Tacos which she enjoyed and liked even more when she added pickles that I didn't want from my burger. Wasn't as messy as she thought it was gonna be too! Our fries were nice and crispy and very well seasoned as well. Staff was excellent and gave great recommendations and we had great conversation with him. I know the menu has changed a bit since we went, so we're dying to try the new menu and new beers! Again, highly recommend stopping here!

I decided maybe Virgil was close enough to try it, and oh my goodness - I understood at once why poutine is so popular. If you also hail from a poutine-less area of the world, fear not - done well, it's a great dish. The beer was also excellent. I can see why The Black Lager is Canada's most award-winning Schwarzbier. There are some really good schwarzebiers in my city, and Silversmith's is right up there with them. I also have a Nut Brown Ale, and a small size of the Motueka, both of which I would get again. They know what they are doing with their food and drink. And the atmosphere is really good as well. The old-church-turned-brewery is beautiful. I'll let the pictures in other reviews do it justice. The service was good. It was relatively busy the night I was there, but the service was still quick enough and even a bit conversational - I recall one of the bartenders worked at Silversmith in the warmer months, and travels southeast Asia in the colder months, which is pretty cool. I would likely be a regular if I lived in the area.

The Harvest Barn also serves as a great alternative to the supersized Mega-grocery stores which are all too commonly found in suburban cities across North America (which also tend to import their produce from all over instead of fresh, locally grown food). Outside they have picnic tables if you feel like enjoying the sunshine, and also a small kids play area (ie. small wooden train) which is great for distracting the little rascals or hyperactive adults. They also have Fruit Baskets, Deli Trays, and Sandwich Platters. No big deal, I'm a patient person. Once it hit 10 business days and still no email regarding it being shipped, I sent a quick email. No response. So a few days later, I sent a message through their website. No response. Another email a couple of days later. No response. Finally I call them and am told that Daniel will call me back... I get an email that basically states "Sorry for the delay, I refunded your shipping, it will go out Friday thing Monday morning.". (Huh?! Oof). Again, no tracking number, no contact, no product. I emailed again to ask for a tracking number. No response. It's a month later, and no product. I call again, get a lady who says she will talk to Daniel and call me back. To her credit, she calls me back that day. She says it will be sent Monday, with express shipping, and I should have it by Wednesday. (Ontario to Alberta - doubtful). I ask her to send me a tracking number and she says she will personally call me on Monday with it. Well, you can guess what happened at this point. No call, no email, no product. Now I'm REALLY fed up (like I said, I'm patient, but over a month of getting the run around has finally worn it thin), and why won't the guy in charge even bother to speak with me?! I call back, speak with her again, she says they had three packages returned to them and mine was among them. That makes no sense at all to me, I'd sure like to see what the (non-existent) tracking said on all three of those. She says Daniel will sort it out. NOTHING. We're now into February. I call back, speak to the first gentleman again, he assures me that Daniel will contact me. Righhhht. I wait another week before one more phone call that went unanswered during business hours - they probably have call display. LOL. My next call was to Visa to dispute the charge. The next day I get an email with a short apology stating that he will refund me. No explanation as to why they haven't sent it. Over a week later, on Feb.13th, I finally received a refund. I don't even know if he provided it, or if Visa did... My bet is on Visa. What a joke of a business. Get your act together!

Not a great experience with their service and mediocre food. We arrived at 7:30pm for our reservation on a Tuesday evening and were seated right away. There's a 3 course for $80, or 2 course for $75. We ordered two 2 courses and two 3 courses between our table of 4, and one lager. Appetizers came at 8:20pm. The waiter told us right before the appetizers were served that there was a group of 20ppl right ahead of us, hence the slow service. The main hall was full of the 20ppl group, but our dining section had 3 tables, including ours - so it doesn't seem that busy as it was mostly empty. He did not check in with us during this 50min wait time between sitting down and appies arriving, nor did he bring the lager, or give us a heads up about the wait any earlier. Not off to a great start. APPETIZER: Pate shortbread cookie: I quite liked this one, the sweet buttery shortbread crunch, with a salty creamy pate filling and a dab of jam on top. There's prosciutto and greens on the side. This dish was the definition of sweet and savoury. My friend got the cold soup and loved it. MAIN: Arrancini: mix of mushrooms and veggies, rice, deep fried in a ball shape. THIS WAS HORRIBLE. There wasn't much flavour to the arancini themselves, nor in the sauce. There was some sort of marinated mushroom, and that was good but the Arancini was so stale, similar to how a food court pre-deep fries their items and leaves it in a hot tray. They were not crispy at all, and had a hard chewy exterior. -I asked the waiter if the arancini was supposed to be crispy, he said yes, they are deep fried so it's supposed to be crispy. -I said it tastes quite hard and chewy instead, not crispy. -He said something along the lines of "Is there something you'd like me to do about it?" -I was very disappointed but didn't want to cause a scene so I said no. I couldn't finish it. Overall, super underwhelming restaurant for the price point. (P.S. the winery part is great though, I'd recommend the tasting and grab a few bottles, but I do NOT recommend the restaurant)
